@Busdude97 they are very primitive. they pick a random direction and then continue on that until they hit something or they get to the perimeter wire and then they pick a new random direction. as a computer scientist specialized in AI it's rather unimpressive. I've considered offering my services to make a far better system but I expect them to be stupid enough to say no. in fairness it will take some cash to develop but once done it will be cheap to make and so much better.
@DanFrederiksen I agree with you. I'm always hesistant to invest in these robot devices until they have some sort of intelligent mapping. I wonder how good the robotic vacuum cleaners are nowadays. Although it is primitive, as long as it can cover all the lawn by the time it grows back it doesn't matter if it's autonomous. I wonder what sort of maintenance costs are involved in these automowers, without having to spend hundreds on special 'Husqvarna Automower Blades' etc.
wow...what if it ran over tht kids foot...does it have a safty mechanism, to reverse, because by the time that senser thing hits the kids ankle it already chopped off his toes
I got one of these last spring. When its set up right and the garden slightly modified to suit - it works very well. The effect looks like the grass has stopped growing.
- So if you dont have a lot of crap on your lawn, it runs with zero maintance for weeks. All you have to do is check/change the knifes from time to time (can last a season if they dont hit rocks and other hard stuff) and adjust the running hours to match the growth.
When the grass grow faster after rain you have to add running hours to cover the lawn.
Our run for approx. one hour a day. But when the grass grow fast it might need to run 3-4 hours a day. first in spring and late fall we sometime turn it off for some days. Electric usage is like 20$ a year. (with probably high danish electric pricing).

Yes I would actualy say it look more like "pro landscaping" than "decent looking".
But you need to time the daily run time to groth rate.
