You are doing a great job Gibran. Being a good photographer is one thing but being able to successfully inspire and train others is quite another. You are good at both.
Question: in the pic with the boys back to back, you've mentioned the shutter speed as 1/1250. Didn't you mean 1/250?
Thank you for your videos, you do a great job at explaining. I have a question about the family shoot that you show in this video. What focus mode did you shoot in when you were shooting the two boys together? If you use AF- S where do you put the focal point? If you did not shoot in AF-S did you shoot in AF-C because the little boy was moving around a lot? Thanks for your help.
@mancinoljm I use AFS every single time when I'm doing any portrait. That's the only correct choice. I use AFA ONLY when I photograph people dancing and I do a over head shot where I cannot see anything in the view finder. But in this case, it will always be AFS. Boy was moving but I took the picture when I he stopped for a second. If he were running then I wanted a picture of him running then I may have tried AFC but my timing is pretty good so 99% of the times I can easily use AFS
Thanks for the video really helped!! What do you think of the sigma 70-200 2.8 for portraits? Also any tips for shooting family photos with a Nikon D7000 and Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6
@Avershindmave000 Sigma is not bad but 200mm is a lot specially on a crop sensor which means you'll need fast shutter speed to eliminate camera shake. If can manage a prime lens then get 85 1.8 for portraits IF you're shooting from distance. Prime lens will give you great quality.
@borthwick2 Thank you much. I think the sound is great everywhere. People just need to move their ass and increase the volume if they're using an outdated system. If someone was giving away free diamonds to a bunch of people, someone will bitch about getting the small piece. That's how our world is. People are never happy even when they get stuff for free. I do this for those who appreciate and want to learn so Thank You! :)
I don't understand how any one is having problems with the sound. My laptop's volume is at 22% and I can hear every word said by the kids, the parents and by Jibran. I have Youtube's volume at less than 50%.
@ThePhotographybysimo Def check your sound card. This was tested on 4 different computers including a crappy ancient laptop and there were no sound issues. In the newborn baby video I was whispering because the baby was sleeping but int his.. you're the only person with this issue. Even at my school's outdated computer this was fine. Def check the sound card or get new speakers.
Great videos but the sound does need work, maybe you need to check your computers. I have $200 headsets on multiple PCs with ASUS XONAR Essence STX sound cards ($220 card), nearly the best you can get. Sound is very very very low on each pc I checked and also my laptop.
But that is the only issue, great vids keep up the good work.
@Quirkitized Thank you! On my main computer the volume is not even 1/8 power and and YouTube's volume is not even half and I could hear everything. Perhaps I'll do a video on this so people actually believe me. I spend hours on these videos and the last thing I want to do is mess up the volume. Also, this was tested on some of the shittiest computers my school has. We're still using Tube monitors just to give you an idea. It was fine. I can't make it any better. I'm sorry to disappoint you guys.
I can see I would not be able to remain calm working with children like this one..! My hats off to you for how easily you can create such beautiful work through such adversity. I would have suggested locking the little one in the trunk until we were done...!
@rodbo lol. Shy kids are worse. You can't catch them smiling or doing anything silly. With hyper kids it's hard to get group shots because if one kid listens to you and smiles, the other is looking some where else or moving hands etc. You basically listen to them first and let them play while you take some candid shots then you let them hold the diffuser IF they let you take a shot. It works most of the times.
what kind of lens do you use ?

@sachunjyo Thank you much! Yes, it was a mistake. It's 1/250, not 1250. I just fixed it in annotation. Thanks for pointing it out.

One more great video from you. You mentioned 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. Nikkor lenses?
javajanu 3 months ago
@javajanu Thanks! Yes, I only use Nikkor prime lenses for portraits. I've also posted more family shoots if you want to browse them.

what is that white sheet like thing which the kid was helping you to carry around? how and what did you used it for?
utubekhiladi 3 months ago
@utubekhiladi It's called a diffuser. It blocks the harsh sunlight hitting the face. It eliminates the shadows and gives you much softer sunlight.

It's no problem. The audio is just low, it's not like it's monotone or not audible. It's just low, so I turn up the volume :P
Keep up the good work, don't worry about it too much just threw my 2cents in.
