Bill Bendix was an underrated performer who excelled at both comedy and drama.
Too bad he couldn't have stuck around longer.
Great supporting cast as well! Henry Kulky as Otto had a very successful career as a pro wrestler then actor. He went by "Bomber Kulkivich" in the ring. Henry often played really nasty villains but had a great comedic side too. His last role was that of CPO "Curley" Jones on the first season of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
The nine color episodes of the seventh season (1956-57) broadcast on NBC were: 1. “A House Divided” - April 12, 1957 2. “Return to Blue View” - April 19, 1957 3. “High Cost of Riley” - April 26, 1957 4. “Babs Comes Home” - May 3, 1957 5. “Father-in-law vs. Father-in-law” - May 10, 1957 6. “The Stray Dog” - May 17, 1957 7. “Vacation Plans” - May 24, 1957 8. “Homeless Otto” - May 31, 1957 9. “Summer Job” - June 7, 1957 Hopefully, a series boxed set in the future will include them.
According to one of the websites online, some of the latter episodes were telecast in color. I wouldn't have thought any of the shows were, but that's what was stated, unless the party has their facts incorrect.
It was in this season that a number of 'Life Of Riley' episodes were filmed and broadcast in color...but not this one. :( First aired on the Ides of March, 1957.

I've never seen an episode of The Life of Riley in color. Were any included in the syndication package over the years on CBN & such?
Don't know why your comment was marked as spam. Likely some joker playing with the keys.
As always, your knowledge is fascinating on classic tv :-)
