Go look up highlights of the US U-17 beating brazil, in this new circle of u-17 players,many are from MLS academies. MLS is just now competing with the FMF and you should hope MLS grows because that makes our region better and makes the champions league more exciting.

MLS is investing in young players from the academies and overseas. A lot of young colombians are coming to MLS. Also the MLS is finding cheap young talent, many of them come from England, Colombia and Africa contries. England has so much talent because these kids are getting loss in a league investing in overseas.

One of the biggest reasons that I think that is because we don't have a local continental tournament as prestigious as the UEFA Champions Leauge (of course, there are many other reasons too). The US national team? I don't see any real boundaries for it not becoming world class.

At present, it doesn't compare much to stronger leagues, so that's why they haven't, in the past, done so well against Mexican teams (though recently, the Mexican teams are beginning to struggle or lose to the MLS teams). About the UCL, I said that to mean that European football is recognized as the best there is. That fact makes it pretty difficult for any non euro league to claim the same.
@luigi8468, well, currently the US national team is an average one and the MLS is a weak league with perhaps only two or three average teams. As for the future of US soccer, we can only speculate.

Go look up highlights of the US U-17 beating brazil, in this new circle of u-17 players,many are from MLS academies. MLS is investing in young players from the academies and overseas. A lot of young colombians are coming to MLS. Also the MLS is finding cheap young talent, many of them come from England, Colombia and Africa contries. England has so much talent because these kids are getting loss in a league investing in overseas.

One of the biggest reasons that I think that is because we don't have a local continental tournament as prestigious as the UEFA Champions Leauge (of course, there are many other reasons too). At present, it doesn't compare much to stronger leagues, so that's why they haven't, in the past, done so well against Mexican teams (though recently, the Mexican teams are beginning to struggle or lose to the MLS teams). About the UCL, I said that to mean that European football is recognized as the best there is. That fact makes it pretty difficult for any non euro league to claim the same.

Also Copa Libertadores have only two main countries who have strong teams Argentina,Brazil and Maybe Chile. The Argentina league is not as strong as it used to be and Brazil is geting stronger.
