They may not have the best voice in the scene,but they surely know how to take the listener on a time-warp trip. Fantastic melody. Pity the live performance ommits the "Beachboys" style backing which,in my humble opinion.gives this songs it's strongest element.

It's hard for me to write this band off as being "music for hipsters" when they arguably released one of the best pop albums of the last few years. I was blown away when I heard Album last December. Very well put together CD, in my opinion.
I agree. They are timeless. Hippies in the 60s, punks in the 70s, college rockers in the 80s, and fans of lo-fi rock in the 90s would all love this. So will the people of the future, I imagine.

I don't think he's gay because I think he's singing this song in the point of view of a girl. If you had the album there's a picture of a different girl for every song so I'd assume each song is for a different girl in his life. But that's just what I think. No big deal if he's gay though.
@Reint25 its not technically relevant to an extent, but infact it does help understand were the artist is coming from to understand certain things about them, sexual preference is one of them to SOME people. To take this song totally on its own and understand it is only done by some people, others try and just try and find the meaning from the artist.

The lead singer is not gay. In fact, the song is about the lead singer meeting up with an old girlfriend a couple of weeks after they broke up. Instead of the girl being all depressed like the lead singer was, she started telling him about how she's got a new boyfriend, hangs out at the beach, eats pizza and drinks wine, etc. He's just complaining about the fact that HE doesn't have these things. Hence, "I wish I had a boyfriend, I wish I had a father." His father left his family when he was 1.

I don't think he's gay because I think he's singing this song in the point of view of a girl. If you had the album there's a picture of a different girl for every song so I'd assume each song is for a different girl in his life. But that's just what I think. No big deal if he's gay though.

@Reint25 its not technically relevant to an extent, but infact it does help understand were the artist is coming from to understand certain things about them, sexual preference is one of them to SOME people. To take this song totally on its own and understand it is only done by some people, others try and just try and find the meaning from the artist.

The lead singer is not gay. In fact, the song is about the lead singer meeting up with an old girlfriend a couple of weeks after they broke up. Instead of the girl being all depressed like the lead singer was, she started telling him about how she's got a new boyfriend, hangs out at the beach, eats pizza and drinks wine, etc. He's just complaining about the fact that HE doesn't have these things. Hence, "I wish I had a boyfriend, I wish I had a father." His father left his family when he was 1.
