cats should have the opportunity to cover waste while situated outside the dump zone. this container design might be convenient for cat owners but I would never make a cat endure this unnatural arrangement. cats need working room to cover droppings !! lazy pet owners should not subject animals to the least messy method for their benefit. situate a $20 battery vacuum near the litter box and bend over once and a awhile. i never found litter tracking a problem.
@DesignerAviaries You know, sometimes it's not just because an owner was simply "lazy". I have two cats who use this litter box, and my reasoning for getting it was because I also have two dogs that I could not get to stop eating the cat poop. I tried so many things, until I saw this. I thought there was no harm in trying it, and my cats both took to it wonderfully in a matter of days. So please, don't just assume that pet owners are getting this litter box due to laziness.
@DesignerAviaries this isn't lazy the cat own has more work if you ask me ... an open box would be easier on the owner but they chose something that was best for both the owner AND the cat. And besides ... doesn't look like the cat was having any issues!! Like someone else said ... I don't think cats really care!!!
does it stop some of the litter from coming out? my covering action and whatever stuck on their paws gets everywhere! this looks like at least the digging action wouldn't get everywhere? and she pees lifting her butt. this looks like it wouldn't get into the wall as much?
Neat idea ... but it's basically a Rubbermaid storage container with a textured lid and a hole cut in the top. Still, about thirty bucks for this is still better than $180 for that stupid ModCat thing. Thinking I might give one of these a try, since one of my cats isn't too keen on the current cat box (the kind with a lid and a clear plastic swinging door), probably because it traps the smells inside...
@darkwriter77 I was thinking the same, buy a plastic container in target, make a hole on the lid and cover it with rubber ....Ready to go. a fantastic idea, so the cats won't let too much sand out.
This box is awesome for cats who kick up litter doing their business. It also prevented my dog from getting in and digging out poo treats - gross but that is what he used to do.
that litter box is not bad it is fantastic

This would be great for my little kitty. How much?

I have one and I returned it because my automatic litter cleaner (my dog) couldn't get to the cat treats. BAD IDEA!

Great idea. However, I have four cats, not all of who are friendly toward each other. If I only had one cat, it would be ideal.
