  • This may be his best song because of its complexity. It is forlorn but somehow optimistic. It is hard to put both of those things in a song.

  • beautiful

  • I am very glad, and also very lucky to see Chris Knight at all my sons school functions.. Goes to show this man is an awesome story teller but also an awesome father..

  • sounds great

  • @watk089 We do consider him an honorary Texan. He plays a lot here. We appreciate great song writing down here. Well some of us. ( : We are seeing Chris this Friday here in Dallas. Been going to see him for the past 10 to 11 years.

  • I just discovered Chris a couple wks ago (bad thing is I'm from KY lol) I'm addicted to his music...hell of a songwriter!

  • No Shit Sondra?I wasn't being literal, I've been familiar with chris knight since he put out "Chris Knight" his 1st CD, I was turnin' wrenches in Dallas, and all I did with what little off time I had was hit the music scene all over the state, He ain't no Texan, that's like sayin' Fred Eaglesmith is a Texan! He's a Hillbilly Poet, I been up in the hills in north Alabama, and had not heard or seen any of his stuff in several years, and this hit me in the gut! Don't try to teach me, OK?

  • WOW!!! Chris just sang my life in 4 minutes and 19 seconds, I'm 45, and I lost my old man a year ago, and he's the daddy in This song, and I broke myself on him, and others in my days, and this has to be one of the best Songs I have heard, especially live like this with Chris! This Blew me away, I been listening to it over and over, and it just gets better!!!!!!!!!!!

  • didn't think I'd like it at first, then BAM!!! it hit me, great song.

  • "Hear people sayin' like father like son/Don't think about it much but I worry 'bout it some". Damn. That's fantastic.

  • @Moose6340 My dad was far from an f-up, in fact he was quite an admirable man. But he died of cancer when I was 25 and he was 56. Guy Clark once said that good songwriting leaves holes in the lyrics in the right places. Well, you might see how the holes in those lines work for me.

  • Chris Knight is one of the best song writers ever. This is what music is supposed to be!

  • Great song..says alot to me..

  • i think this guy should teach others to write better songs that tell stories like this that are true to most

  • @silhouettefaux in this video he's tuned half a step down. im sure you know this man but its Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb, and this is a great song!

  • I just discovered this song and Chris Knight and so far I love it. Does anyone know if he came from antother band or anything? He has a great voice.

  • @sondra6980 No i dont think he did, he writes a lot of songs for other people. Hes originally from Kentucky but hes considered a Texan to most.

  • how does he tune his guitar? All the tabs don't line up with the 3 music fog videos....standard tuning doesn't match?

  • @silhouettefaux its 1/2 step down, and you have to think, this is through comp speakres, and you might be playing a diff guitar(i.e. sound diff)
