as it is at this date 4-2-11 the "megashed" is now not tesco but co-op and yes it's big.
but i do not think it is an eye sore! will it be good for andover? only time will tell but just look at solistice park in amesbury. things are not very good at the moment but i see good things for the A303 area.
Think of the jobs for the local community and the construction jobs, most people who object to this have paid off there mortage and they do not have young children to think of.When the eccomony is bad you need work like this.
Typical middle-class snobbery and racism. Better employment? Higher skilled? If there was a demand by businesses to come to Andover I think they'd already be here. Don't you? There is a big demand for "low skilled" jobs. Look, the council are building 5,000 houses. Those people need jobs and no, I'm afraid they may not all be the "type" of people you would prefer but that's better than having a higher unemployment rate.
Its not being a snob, and its not racism. Its being a REALIST!
We don't want the council building 5000 new homes for our already over populated town. But do you think the people who already live here get a say in things like that? I don't think so. And if we do, it doesn't matter what the majority vote, local shit council do what they want anyway.
Basically Office depot are making people redundant, Stanner stairlifts are rumoured to be making redundancies. So please, if you still want to have an Andover then you would welcome the Tesco airfield construction with open arms.
I would never welcome it with open arms. Its a big ugly monstrosity. I'd welcome a business park on a smaller scale with decent prosperous jobs. Not cheap labour, shit jobs, and a huge increase in foreigners to our town.
Many of the people who will come to live in Andover in the new homes will already have jobs. I believe that we need a better balance of jobs in the town, and the proposed Business Park would complement the existing industrial estates.
Why? What's the difference between loads of cars driving to Andover than a few lorry's? And what are the local government going to do about the lack of lower skilled jobs for the working class people in Andover?
There are a lot of people who need those, what do you suggest we do about them?
topseysasha says a few lorries - a few thousand lorries would be nearer the mark. With under 1% unemployment in the town, shortage of jobs is hardly a current issue We should be thinking of what sort of place we want Andover to be in the future, does anyone really want it to remain a pocket of low-paid low-grade jobs within an otherwise prosperous county? Also big distribution centres have a reputation for taking on a lot of foreign workers so as to keep wage levels rock bottom.
It will just mean a load of low skill shit pay jobs for foreigners! We really don't want an ugly oversized warehouse here. If the site is going to have something built on it, because lets face it, the government and everybody with a bit of power is on a mission to destroy every last bit of countryside England has, a SMALLER business park with decent prosperous jobs should be built
Decent prosperous jobs don't just get built. They get attracted. If you look at other towns and cities with decent jobs they all have the "lower unskilled" ones to go with them.
Hi i live in andover on the weyhill road if you build this tesco warehouse will have lorrys coming down past house and the weyhill road is always so please dont do this
Can't you raise this in the Commons? TVBC don't seem to care at all about Andover considering what happened to the Guildhall, so without outside involvement I fear this may go the same way.
Thanks for this; the House of Commons is not sitting at the moment, and we don't return until October 8th. One option would be to ask the Minister to "call in" the application. Best wishes, George Young

Thanks for this. I am much happier with the bid from the Co-op - more land for other uses and jobs, less traffic and a less intrusive building

Andover already has a surplus of non-skilled jobs, why do we need more?
Surley there are plenty of other areas in the UK which are screaming out for something like this?
My guess is that Andover is being preped as a migrant overspill dumping ground, just like it was with London in the 60s...

I agree that Andover needs a better mix of jobs, and the Business Park should be used for what it was planned for - not for a giant warehouse.
