Ever since I was a Mormon I was told that the Christian Church is false because Joseph Smith said that the church that he was attending was contending with one another Methodism vs Protestant vs Baptist. Now since I became a Christian I keep on hearing about Arminianism vs Calvinism vs all the other ISM out their in Christianity. When I talked to a Calvinist he said that I am not saved. When I talked to the Arminianist he said I am saved.
@travismification Don't worry about what all the "isms" say. You just need to read the Bible and obey it. If you want to know whether you are truly a Christian or not, read 1 John.
On the word "Draw" Pat said its translated as "Drag", but in the KJV its always translated Draw (or Drew).
It is the EXACT word Jesus uses to say He would Draw ALL men to Himself. Note in both verses, the issue is of us coming to Christ, first Jesus says we can't without being Drawn by the Father, then second He asserts that He would Draw ALL men to Himself
In Jn 5:19 Jesus confirms that the works He does, are done by the Father, This clearly teaches that the Father Drew ALL men to Christ
The Calvinist almost got me by saying that Psalm 58:3 was mistranslated, to bad he was lying through his teeth. He said it should say "Those speaking lies, go astray as soon as thhey are born." rather than "They go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies."
All these Bible translations, however, disagree with the Calvinist: NIV, NLT, ESV, KJV, ASV, DBT, ERV, WBT, WEB, YLT... the only literal translation that supports him is the NASB.
If one doesn't believe that man is not a sinner, one is not reading the Scriptures. The Bible clearly teaches that " 'the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 'I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.' " Jer. 17: 9-10, Ps. 14, Rom. 7:7-25, Rom. 8:10-11...
@worshipthelord17 Who said that man is not a sinner? The question in this debate is whether or not man is "born a sinner". None of the verses you reference come even close to proving such a thing...
yes, we can feel who is under which spirit by the kind of attitude they exhibited. This guy called Pat is the best example of Calvinists who think that they own heaven. It is a doctrine that was made in the age and ear of racial superiority of the Europeans over against all other people; this is almost very close to Nazi mindset.
Christ knocks on every heart, We need to open the door for Him to come in and clean our filt!!! pat you put your footin your mouth, when Skelly asked you about Cain!!!
I finally got a chance to listen to this debate, kudos to kerrigan. The MAJORITY of the verses Pat quoted regarding SIN were GREAT verses about how TRAGIC sin can be, but it had nothing to do w/ the debate. He quoted John 8, "Whoever commits sin is a slave to sin" EXACTLY! You BECOME a SLAVE AFTER you COMMIT sin. But Calvinists have it backwards, Jesus did NOT say, "You were born a SLAVE so you COMMIT SIN". Original Sin has produced unbiblical Doctrines and Leads MANY to CALVINISM.
Great video! Thanks guys. Question: If we were all too dead to respond, then why is there so much scripture written to the sinner? If the sinner is too dead to hear it, then why does God speak directly to the sinner in scripture? If TULIP is true, shouldn't all scripture just be instruction to believers (which it is not).
is it really upsetting that in the first 10 minutes I wanted to rebuke this Pat guy... for misrepresenting scripture within his first obvious proof-texts? ugh... it hurts my ears... but I will keep listening.
Pelagius wasn't the first to come up with the idea... I have a feeling this Pat guy has never picked up anything from the Early Church Fathers, because it would be quite frightening to see your beliefs being accursed as gnostic...
I agree. If you listen to the radio show that was the follow-up to the debate, where we talk about the debate, you will hear me say this. I only got a chance to say about half of what I wanted to because I was dealing with "straw mans" the whole time.
If you are going to debate someone, you should definitely know their position(s), otherwise you really aren't debating THEM...
It is very clear what spirit is at work in both men debating.
Pat displayed these traits: uncleanness, lewdness,idolatry,...hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, lots of straw man arguments and false accusations
Kerrigna displayed these traits: peace, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control.
Praise the Lord for men like Kerrigan who stand up for the truth against these false teachers
Patrick calvy guy blames for what he is guilty of..wickedly prideful twists & reads n2 scripture & asks just for a partial as a "yes - No" answer like a lawer defending a theif ..cornered retaliation {EVEN when PLEADS for this jeopordizing salvation} yet slides into a willingly blind prideful provocative hate toned discourse - there is no way he cant see the error..unless God sent him dellusion to believe a lie..well, he does sound head strong onto willing deafness. So that just may be the case
The thing I can't understand is that I don't like Calvinism, Arminianism. All I want is what the bible Say.

@travismification I don't like either of those as well. That's right, just believe and obey the Scriptures!

I make peace and create calamity. God doesn't create evil He creates what is good and what is good can spoil and become evil by choice.

"It's only those who receives the grace from God, he just dispproved Calvinism."
48:45-58
He just proved your point again.

At 28:55-59 Pat proves Kerrigan point that God holds men accountable by his own actions.

Pat so misrepresents Kerrigans position on the issue so he lost the debate in 5 minutes.
