It's so funny Elena back then would definitly slap the shit out of Damon or be like what's wrong with you? like in S2 ep 1 but the Elena know in season 3 would've most likely kissed him back, this scene is hilarous cuz Damon did'nt expect that if it was Katherine even though she said she likes Stefan better would definitly have let Damon kiss her.

Elena, is nothing like Kathrine. Kathrine only messed with Damon so she could turn both the brothers who were in love with her. (She knew Stefan would never leave his brother) Kathrine is just sexualy manipulative but truth is from my perspective she only ever loved Stefan. And Elena she's human, feelings happen. Who wouldn't fall in love with both Damon & Stefan?

Well, the necklace is filled with Vervane, which is an herb that protects humans from vampires: Vervane makes it so that vampires can't compel humans to do whatever they want (they can basically perform mind control on humans by looking them deep into the eyes) AND if you drink Vervane, your blood will also poison them. So, without Vervane on her, Damon could've looked deep into Elena's eyes and could've compeled her to kiss him (and like it). Get it? X

I think if you live a 150 years, you pick up some seduction tricks+you get a budload of confidence, so I think it's mainly because of his general hotness and arrogant air surrounding him. I think he only uses the compel-trick if he wants to feed from them and keep them quiet about it (like he did to Caroline who fell for his looks).
