@Danielion55 Because if the Zerg brings Mutalisks with his ground army, then he has no response to the Mutalisks if he only had Hellions.

@Danielion55 turrets are mainly defensive as they can't move.. as zerg normally doesn't go a lot with invisible units no turret are needed and wasting engineer bay and turret minerals is not really good as you will need those minerals.

@Elprise1 it could be that he got the limited edition, because they came with an add-on in the game that added some extra parts to the thor to make them look much better then if you just bought a normal copy of SC2

i try this startegy once n it was a success ! :), but one thing to make this startegy better. i tweak it a lil bit. do a barrack, n then factory built, pump 1 or 2 marine frm ur 1st barrack n after dat immediately add on tech lab. once it is complete immediately exchange that tech lab wif ur factory n research pre igniter n start building ur 1st hellion at the same time. add a 2nd factory, push out wif at least 3-4 hellion 1st rush for max damage.

this does not work.  ive played it all day and had zero success. it might look good in theroy, but in real world games it does not work. lings come much sooner, followed by baine, or roaches. terran can not keep up. right now there seem s to be no defense for mass mutta attacks. going to try turttle and hope for the best going thors. see if that works

@rakilgour were u scouting the entire time? ur strategy should not be the end all be all. if u see ur enemy going for units that counter wat u have, then counter them. keep scouting and try not to let the enemy scout too much.

Jaabberrwocky and 00CloughRN, you're wrong! it's not about having the right strategy when your a noob player, it's about executing your build order and having a lot of shit! If you for example build ONLY marines then they will be able to kill anything thrown at them if you have large enough numbers. It's about macroing..

i hate those thors.....kills all my zerg units....then he has like marines or helions and then my lings are screwed.....besides a good roach surround, the parasite or broodlords i really dunno how to get a good counter.....thinking come in with bane then lings

@CrimsonSun77 If you can surround with zerglings, that's a pretty solid counter. If not, send your zerglings in first anyways and then follow up with your attacking units so the thors will waste time killing the zerglings. If you have a considerable amount of mutalisks, do the same as above but just make sure to magic box them over the thors.

@snipa120 Ultralisks MAY work but really they would break even with a mass of thors unless REALLY microed well. Brood Lords are a HARD counter to thors because of the wimpy dmg thors do to them plus the mmass of broodlings even as little as 7 brood lords can produces will effective eat shots from thors, block their walking path, and deal great amounts of damage as they swarm them. Thors don't like zerglings, well they wont like broodlings either. Hellions can't attack air so yea, brood lords.

@snipa120 Roaches are a hard counter to hellions and don't do too badly against thors either. Cost for cost, it's about 5 roaches to a thor in total resources, and 5 roaches can definitely down a thor. Or neural parasite half the thors. That's always fun. These are lower tech options anyway. Scouting is key though. Don't do guesswork.

@M16A1srawesome Nothing, keep making Thors, alot of thors will counter even magic box. Marines are useless because the Zerg will just make banelings and vikings are terrible against Mutas.

@Asyllaa haha psy viewer? This tactic of course allows the mutas to take less damage however, Like in Psy's video, he had like 27 mutas vs 4 thors the mutas still were deterred, and 4 thors can take down 15 mutas in a magic box, nuff said.

I really love what you're doing here. You give off GREAT analysis about potential things to come by and that's what new players (like me) really need. Build orders can only do so much; proper response to your opponents win you games, whether you did it intentionally or luckily (like me again :P)

I really liked how you went through scouting information and the logic behind the assumtions you made. ie. Probably going to be speedlings, because no lair/bannling nest. Thor + Helion is overpowered.. as a Zerg player there is no counter to that. If you build roaches, marauders own them, if you build hydras, siege tanks and helions own them. Zerg will be dead before he can get Ultras or broodlords.

@700007123 If you know, you will get attacked by Thor + Hellions, you can counter with roaches and Infestors.

Terran cant just techswitch on the spot to marauders, as he lacks mass baracks, cos he spammed factories. Just like he cant just switch to vikings and valkyries, once he has committed to mech, or like he cant mass units rapidly if he started 1-1-1 destiny cloud fist.

I was going to splash out on some cheaper, older games, but your strategy guides have got me completely hyped about this game so nice work! How long do matches generally last and is it a case of usually having one chance to attack and/or counter before you run out of luck? I only ask because my only real experience with strategy is Dawn of War 2 (campaign), Sins and a little Total War! Cheers

the length of the game relies on you and your opponents play style

if you push early it could be an all or nothing

different strategies usually bring different lengths to a game
