  • fuckin' fascism !

  • this is a great tale from miller.and it is sad to see that the greek and the turkish still find an opportunity to attack each other.Spartans were great warriors just like the Trojans or the Huns. They dont look gay to me :)and helenic pride,if you are proud of your culture, which you shoud be,dont insult other nations.somehow we have soooo much in common man!

  • Because many of us are angered by your people and what has taken place...hopefully you can understand why. I am not saying that it is appropriate to insult someone because they are Turkish but some of us don't know which other way to react. Just so you are aware we have a lot in common with the rest of Middle East as well, soooo...

  • looooooool

  • Spartans were Gay? All of us are the sons of Spartans? This is interesting information I'm glad you have shared your intelligence and knowledge with the rest us, given the fact that all your people have done is murder, lie and steal.

  • you're the king of lamers.

  • imba trailer....

  • beat the persians but not the ottomans lol

  • well if east doesn't want to look like totaly dick suckers they should just know when to quit instead of attacking a nation they know is superior.

They do it all the time first it's Greece now America

  • Are we forgetting the many other empires? Oh and we're comparing the ancient Greeks with modern Americans? And the Persians with Al-Qaeda? AND we're using a totally non-historical document to back up our evidence?

The persians weren't the only ones who tried to conquer the "world". Remember the Romans? The Conquestadors? The Ottomans?

  • its like lotr

  • bravo usrobotics fuck the gayreeks

  • these kind of films are showing that east is evil and west is good, all of them are propaganda against east..

  • "OK"

  • this film looks like age of empire

  • so tell me why r the persians look like orcs and uruk hai where were exist in lotr

  • hahaha what an idiot

  • this is a fuckin holywood shit.

300 gay spartan killes 1000000 persian oooohhhh what a legend what a bravery

i think i m gonna pissed on it

  • I saw this movie today it was pretty good a nd gory. if you like slow motion you found your movie..go see it

  • what a deeply foolish trailer, killing people is not that easy, it effects some dumbs

  • What exactly does "it effects some dumbs" mean? Are you dumbs?

  • the advertising budget for this film is off the charts... i love the story-line but i think the movie might suck... usually when they spend too much money on the advertising they dont spend enough money on the movie.

  • fascinating!!!

  • amazing i havent seen such a great trailer in years

  • What moron flagged this?

  • looks like god of war

  • god help the ****er who talks during this movie. imagine the ass kicking he's gonna get

  • lol tru dat

  • dude this is so cool:o

  • west culture still masturbate with this tale, but it's been more than 2000 years... find something new...

  • hey faggot "western culture" enjoys this legend as much as you would enjoy it in the "easterN" world. we just have better graphics. We have digital animations while you have grandpa's sound effects ;) good job keeping up with us East

  • why are you masturbating yourself with western technology

because you r an idiot who cant use brain individual.

you only watch what is happening in the world

  • "because you r an idiot who cant use brain individual." Learn to speak english before you start an arguement. asshole.

  • This rocks! I'm definitley gonna see this movie!

  • Well I am a hottie...And I COULD use a vacation to this so called "wonderful world..." you speak of...

  • waht is this "wonderful world," you speak of?

  • Because they didnt have toilets and toilet paper back then, and showing people taking a shit in an epic movie would be a first in the history of filmmaking.

  • Well shit, I'm convinced!

  • I want to see how they would go to take a shit and how they would wipe their asses.

  • I want to see how they would go to take a shit and how they would wipe their asses.

  • ...I think I need to change my panties. o_o

  • this movie looks bad ass, as were the spartans. Hellas!!!!

  • Oh cool, it's been a while since they came out with a good movie about bowling.

  • Dont get me wrong. I have many many persian friends and have great respect for your culture, history and contributions. I just like to debate history! :-)

  • the story of "300" is History, as true as the WW2! This movie shows the battle of the "300" as some Hercules mythological fiction with beasts that never existed...

It's like showing Thomas Jefferson flying an F-16!!! LOL

  • That's why they call it "historical fiction."

  • Give Them Nothing, But Take From Them Everything!

  • It not a spartan who gave up the back route, it was a local greek villager named Ephialtes.

And of course the 5000 greeks lost the battle. But they ultimately won the war and took at least 20,000 persians with them.

Thermopylae is regarded as one of the greatest last stands in history - hence the movie.

And yes, king Leonidas was beheaded - a tendency still popular in that part of the world today.

  • I was talking about Marathon and later Thermopylae. Long before Alexander. The persian empire was supposedly at its height when it went after greece under Darius and 10 years later by his son Xerxes. Both invasions lost by persia.

  • leo230 I know that frenchs say that" As strong as a turk" and in chinese writings it is written that Huns have strong body and ırresisteble in war. So put the turks on top of the list

  • BELIVE IT OR NOT. The first and great two civialisation were in egypt and abysinia known now as ethiopia. this two civilisation brought so many things we use today in our life. for example numbers were discoverd or created in egypt where as the abysinians were the first christian empire in afrika.

  • Make no mistake I'm not Anti-Greece if we keep on this naivety that we were the first and/or the only people to have a civilisation and offered something, people wont appreciate what these men from the european peninsula offered to humanity and what they did to protect Europe as long as they could through out history. please throw naivity in the wind

  • A few things:

    * I cant help but feel annoyed when there are Greeks who reckon that only Greeks had something and everyone else had none, there we civilisations older than us eg Japan there a 12,000 year old pot was founded there, the most ancient Greek artifact was 7000 years old.

  • noone gives a fuck about japan. They were still living in villages while the greeks built a civilization and waged war on its enemies.

  • r u retarded?

  • You are obviously retarded since you think pots = civilization heavily influenced by war, religion, and philosophy.

  • What are you talking about? I was just going to say that you forgot to capitilize the J in Japan

  • You just cant exept that there were civilisations before the Greeks cant you? pottery or craftsmanship are signs of a civilisation not just warfare, religion and philosophy. Its not fair when you say that no-one cares about the Japanese, and how you call JNS retarded. Its becase of people with your naivity and fascism that gives us Greeks a bad name man you should know better!

  • We're in a whole new discussion. Rome was war-like and fierce much like Greece, and they were remembered and revered much more than the later, older rome, lost in its opium of "peace" and "stability" and corruption, ultimately crumbling to internal bickering and external forces. Conflict defines humans, war makes and destroy. Much like anything else, Japan was irrelevent in its beginning, but once it turned into the fearsome feudal society that it is famous for, it commanded respect.

  • As I understand tinthaninja, yes the Romans and the Greeks did reach their overall pinnacle before the Japanese true? I'm not questioning the quality of the Roman or Greek civilisations. What we must be aware of is that there were civilisations before us better or worse or even. btw excuse my name I came up with it at a time were the turks were really hostile towards greek related material and I dont know how to change it

  • well don't worry about it, I'm just questioning the merit of the word "civilization." The greeks indeed had something the others didn't have; much like how egyptians and sumerians had something more than the isolated tribes did, and it's power from war. It's paradoxical isn't it? the greatest achievement of man (society, civilization, language) is forged from wars, but it is also destroyed in wars. Fucking human nature lol

  • LOL a very valid point you made, sometimes the worst times bring out the best in us or it can be the worst.

  • As for the merit of civilisation friend,Unless I'm terribly mistaken is structure and advancement, eg a barbarian or the caveman before him were scattered and not in a civil society, they didnt grow out of primitive habitats and have sophistication not too much of it anyway.

  • fuck that english

either write understandable or dont write anything in english greek moron.

  • Yes fuck that english

  • True they may not have had such beings, but you have to take into accout that the period it delt with was full of demi-gods, spirits and other non human influences.

  • All you persians, europeans etc. were well known for having a reputation of running away from battle.Like the Persian King who fled famously and cause his army to lose.Europeans are famous for losing to German barbarians and the gauls and later on the Algerians, Libyans, Somalis, Sudanese, Afghans etc.

  • ALl of you people pretending your country is the bravest or is descended from spartans are fooling yourselves! The toughest people in history were the Japanese,Mongols and Celtics.

  • You will come home with this sheild or upon it

    - A Spartan Women equips her son

  • "You either return carrying your shield, or on it" as Spartan women used to say

  • THIS IS GOING TO AWESOME

  • Insane, and inspiring, that a movie trailer about a battle fought 2500 years ago can provoke this much debate. Thank you, good people. Fight in the shade!

  • OK, maybe this is was a little much.

After all I do agree that civilization did begin in mesopotamia and you cannot overestimate the contributions of the persians.

  • People need to stop crying about Persia vs. Greece.

  • I can name countless ancient greek philosophers, mathematicians, historians, sculptures, writers, scientists, playwrites, astronomers, etc... and your saying this is all persian!? Who do yo think you're kidding. People werent born yesterday! If the greeks did not had persia their ass in 480 bc we would have had none of this today!!

  • You are true. Arians are from Persia (actually IRAN wich exact translation means "land of arians" in English)

  • Persians were the real mether of culture not Greece

  • Noone doubts the fact that they did offer lots of things to humanity. But so did greeks. Actually greeks, or better Athens, provided much more but since they DID provide even a tiny little piece of "culture", they were useful to all humanity

  • You are brainwashed- because of this you are saying something that is not true. This does not make you a liar beacuse you actually beleive that what you are saying is true.

  • This is Sparta!!!

    Awesome

  • this is cock would you want some

  • I don't care what you say.We rocked that day.Greek is the mother of culture and wisdom.Envy us suckeeeerssss...

  • Molon Labe!

  • WHAT!? These things began in greece. Pick up a book, and not one written by CAIR. And quit stealing others history!

  • Don't be jealous!!! :)

  • lots of mutations on the spartan side though lol

  • holy SHlT this song goes sooo well with the trailer

  • FUkin love this movie

  • Epic to the highest levels!

  • what music is used in this trailer? so awesome and goes well with the trailer :D

  • "Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails, from the album The Fragile.

  • bu ne yav? bişii anlamadım

  • Ill Cut "LATUKALATUKA" Into Your Back Bitch

  • The male human body (under rigorous physical training ofc) was somewhat idialised, for its appearance and might it conveyed (Mind was also excercised, balance was sought under the motto "Healthy mind in healthy body"). To the porn-minded ones dissapointment, no sexual intercourse was included.

  • Wikipedia isn't exactly a f@#%ing godly enlighted encyclopedia you know. The very guy that claimed homo/bisexuality was present, may be a short-minded prick that wanted to convey his twisted view of something vastly glorious. But most probably he's just an ignorant.

  • hey stayelusive if i rape ur mam will that be alright?huh punk

  • alright

  • wikipedia:Bisexual relations were commonplace among Spartan women, negotiate with their husbands to bring their lovers into their homes, men both allowed and encouraged their wives to bear the children of other men. that was the coolest place ever:))

  • These comments are silly. Seriously, who cares about sexual orientation? Back in the days of old, way before christianity, homosexuality was common and well accepted. Get over it.

  • 300 Spartans

    700 Thespians Over 1,000,000+

    400 Thebans vs.

    *approximate*

  • cool you know your stuff :P i do too lol hey, micheal curtis ford writes awesome novels about greece and rome, you should check his stuff out , my favourites and i reccomend these to you are, The Ten Thousand, Gods and Legions, The Last King. go check em out :D youll love em

  • that friggin sucks so they all died and one killed himself for cowardice? in what way? didnt he fight all those persians?

  • Awesomeness at its best

  • The song is Just like you imagined by Nine Inch Nails.

  • gd song but the 300 movie one is remixed i think. but still a good tune

  • Nope. That's the original version.

  • Fleet crew 517,610

    Infantry 1,700,000[2]

    Cavalry 80,000[3]

    Arabs and Libyans 20,000[4]

    Greek puppet troops 324,000

    Total 2,641,610

according to Herodotus this is the total sum of the Persian army.

  • Spartan's KICK ASS!!

  • Astounding

  • true... there was 300 Spartans, 700 Thespian volunteers and a hostaged group of 700 Thebians... only 2 Spartans survived and the Thebians surrendered. The one surviving Spartan killed himself to atone for his cowardice and the other died in batle a year after against the Persians.

  • this is Frank Miller at his best... the Battle of Thermopylae fought 480 years before Christ in which the Persian army of 2.65 million fought against a group of 300 Spartan warriors in a mountain pass for 3 days, and suffered over 20,000 casualties! The Spartans were the greatest warriors ever to come from the old world and were raised from 7 years of age as fighters.

  • that means each spartan killed about 67 people DAMN

  • I agree emaz1in. anyone know the music plzz post

  • dude the music is really good! and so is the movie, i can't wait to watch it on cinema, damn!

btw does anyone know the name of the music?

  • "Just Like You Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails from "The Fragile" double album.

  • Even if they used the more realistic numbers of 1400 vs 200k its still a cool looking movie. Can't wait to see it. And I hope for those of you guys on here that are from different countries know that the U.S. government doesnt represent the views of all americans.

p.s. I dont know about other countries history books but in the U.S. we're taught about ancient greece including the Spartans and how they were great warriors.

  • i am pretty sure that there were only 300 spartans, but 600 others, from different citys.

  • yea 300 spartans and then some other greeks such as the thespians and some others

  • hahaaha in US you are learning how would be a real idiot too

    lol

  • I am in 2nd grade.

  • holy freaking damn WOW. looks like a great movie

  • I don't understand why its so hard for people to give credit where its due. It does not matter whether they were gay bisexual or anything else. What those 1000 men (don't forget the 700 thespians that died along with the spartans)did something extraordinary. They were bad ass!!! which is why we are still talking about them. There names are engraved in history because it deserves to be. That will never change!!!!

  • i have much expection for this movie, like to be a great movie

  • awesome video. The movie must be good. I think that this would be a good movie about Greek history not like the others that showed Alexander the Great being gay.

  • Alexander the Great was bisexual. We learned that in history class.

  • What history class is that? In Greece they never tought this to us.

  • putthekotdown in what schools did you go to? Messopotamiafor example, remember? if you didnt pay attention you shouldnt make comments....

  • No i don't remember and untill today that i'm in A Lykeiou I haven't read in a school book that Alexander the Great was bisexual or anything like that.

  • in greece also they dont tell you how you had been fucked by turks for years

    gayreeks :DDDloll

  • you cocksucking little punk don't talk about my history. You exist because of Greeks mofo. Now eat a burger, drink some cola and wacht southpark. Men don't talk at all. You don't know history. Go masturbet you little jerk.

  • Yeah I m gonna watch that fuckin movie looks like the best historical war movie made ever.

  • Looks like some awesome stabby action! SPARTA!

  • I can't wait for this movie

  • "Our arrows will blot out the sun."

"Then we will fight in the shade."

When I was a freshman in college and our Honors History professor told us about this quote, I had to chuckle. What balls those guys had. I can't wait for this movie to come out.

    Love the NIN music too.

  • This movie is based on the Battle of Thermopylae a battle of ancient Greece that allowed democracy to spread throughout the world.

  • hellenicpride4life

I' ve never heard that persians were a gay nation, but in platon' s book they were fucking each other. You are blinding your eyes to not to believe it. I don' t give a fuck about your claim. Hellenic, If ı were you I wouldn' t be that PRIDE:)

  • Do you know why persian army is wearing masks? To not to be a jack off material to the spartans:)

  • fuck you duke u piece of shit the persians were gayer than anyone you're probably one

  • This movie looks cool.

  • So many use posts as a vent.

I, and Im sure many others, dont want to hear your BS!

    Talk about the video...

    Otherwise, shut the f*ck up!

  • the only thing anyone should say on this comment board is how bad ass this movie will be and u should shut up with all the homo talk who cares its a movie about 300 bad ass dudes beating the shit out of thousands of other bad ass dudes and there is a rhino just striaght horning people now lets just talk about that nothing else

  • hey ucdavisdude, shut the fuck up fucker, stop spamming with gay shit, i hope she come over so i can fuck her brains out

  • thats how his comics are

  • then after about 5 years they would let the student come back. in order to become a full fleged spartan, they would get tortured for like 3 hrs with a guy standing in their face. if they even twitched from the pain, they would be sent back out on their own.

  • to become a spartan, you were picked at a young age, about 10. trained for a few years, then sent into the world to fend for themselves. their main way to get food/water/shelter was to steal from old spartan veterans. they just sit out kicking the shit out of little kids that were trying to steal from them.

  • ok this is how badass the spartans were

about 90% of spartas pop were slaves, the other 10% were either nobles or memebers of the spartan army

this means that in a riot/rebellion, 1 spartan warrior had to be able to take out at least 9. chances are they could probably take out more.

  • The Spartans were all soldiers. The slaves were calling eilwtes and they were NOT Spartans, they were slaves that Spartans captured them from wars.

And the true Spartans are the Doria that came and Conquered Sparta long after the Troyjan war. That means that the Spartans that fought in Troy were NOT the Doria, but they became their slaves after Doria's invasion.

  • Check out the video on my page

  • amazing video, I can't wait to see it. Surely will blow away all the other movies of it's kind (Gladiator, Troy, etc). It's gonna be sick.

  • this is film from comics not exactly real history...relax idiots...

    bir türk dünyaya bedel...

  • oh and ..immortalguard you dont know anything about history so i m not gonna bother with you anymore i ll just say that we didnt fight only with turks.

  • This is why i m so proud of being Greek.

as far as the gay thing-this is said bye ppl that envy our history and dont have one of their own.-

  • 100% TRUE

Please, just be proud of your history (as I'm with mine -I'm spanish), and don't let that the typical American envy and lack of personality affect you.

We were glorious, and I'm sure we'll be it again.

  • Hey look! Another ignorant statement from a moron on youtube. What a surprise.

  • maybe the briefmans are gay.

  • Follow up;Of them all. number 3 was on the Spartan Hit List. Remember, women, though given equal right in council (akin to housework in their thinking)were excluded from combat training. Since a spartan soldier could expect 20 plus years in the field, not much of a homelife relationship developed.

    Queer by default?

Not exactly, they just didn't put the moral ethics to it the Christians did.

  • As far as the "Gay" thing goes, there was no such thing as homosexuality in Sparta.

    What? BUT BUT BUT....

    Relax.

    Sex served as a tool for 4 purposes in the time of our heros;

    1. Procreation

    2. Power

    3. Philisophical exchange and bonding

    4. Gratification of urges.

  • Maybe there weren't homosexuality. But a vast majority of spartans were BISEXUAL. And the pederastic love was very common (an "erastes" or older man with a "eromeno", or nearly teenager boy).

BTW, spartans really didn't mind about who the hell you just fucked if you have brought 2 or 3 childs to the world to enhance the Glory of the City.

More objective documentation and less christian lies. Please. Thx.

  • Do you even know if the dude was a Christian? He may have just read an abridged history. It would make no since for Christians to try and say there were no homosexuals in Sparta or Greece because the Bible documents ancient cultures that did bisexual and homosexual acts.

  • Yes. But you forget that they document them as pathetic sinners. They don't have any interest in documented great gay warriors, or armies (aka, sacred band of Thebes).

  • That's not a fair statement; God told the Israelites not to do the things that other tribes were doing which included homosexuality. However if a Christian was to look upon a homosexual as pathetic it would be hypocritical because of the many sins he or she has on is or her own head. That's a shortened reason for why it's hypocritical.

  • There are few text detailed descriptions of the battle but for those that care, I'll mention a few;

    Herodotus: Histories (VI)

Salamander: Warfare In The Classical World.

Will Durant: The Life Of Greece (Vol 2 of The Story of Civ).

  • Wow, Immortalguard, do you take this movie or the comments allayed to it as a peronal affront?

    Don't.

    Historically most of us are aware that numbers were exaggerated. Don't get wrapped up about it. As far as THIS BATTLE IS CONCERNED THOUGH;

-300 is the amount of troops Leonidas had with him

    - ONE MILLION can be possibly dropped to 100 thousand, with the 10 thousand Immortals as a hard number.

    Odds still suck though eh?

    Boys did well.

  • One of the most renowned battles in history dramatically brought to the theatre. I am in awe.

  • Heh heh, Blacksun `942 is so right, HE should not get excited over this one;

    It has historical background

    It has Operatic licence

It has a cast most women will wet their pants over

It has an awesome screenplay based on an epic comic

It has a music score worthy of the better end of your iPod.

It has been produced to kick major ass and damn the critics, screw the Oscars (just like Cin City).

So walk away Blacky boyo, walk away....

  • You Greeks, don't come back to me with you are a Turk reply. I ain't Turk. But weren't you guys rescued by Brits and Frenchs, otherwise, you would have been crushed by Turks like hell??
