  • Nice film. <3 Sarah-Jane Potts.

  • The girl that plays Emma, didn't she also appear in that channel 4 show Sugar Rush a few years back?

  • Where was this filmed?

  • @vocazone We filmed in Cafe Arlington on Southwark Bridge Road, London. I'm not sure if it's still there; if it is, it's changed it's name.

  • @guyducker Thanks alot! :-) And great work by the way ;-)

  • I just finished watching this film on on the PBS program "imagemakers" there are many films that take a lot longer to get that message across and without the subtlety of this piece. I could say more but others already have.

    Very good film thanks :)

    Very good film thanks :)

  • Is the bus part of the story or is it fairly irrelevant? Just curious

  • Good idea, saw it coming a mile off though

  • Wonderful film; very atmospheric and well paced.

Super quick service for the new coffee at the end too! Kidding. Great stuff.

  • this is a really good sort film. i am at college doing a film and tv course one of the things that we have to make is a sort film and this has really inspired me. love sarah jane potts

  • wow, i really like that

  • that was really good

  • that was a really good quote when he said something like " if i didn't catch up to you, i might not see you again". it got the audience thinking

  • will and emma had terrible hair, other than tht it was good

  • great film. What camera did you use?

  • That was great :3 Good story and great cast.

And it was a mini SR reunion which is always great :)

  • hey! that girls from waterloo road!

  • Well done.

  • haha yea sugar rush reunion- LOVE sarah-jane potts. amazinggg! hahaa (NKismynextgoal) love the comment.

  • Sugar Rush Reunion!

  • isn't that the guy that was in 'sugar rush' playing saint's ex bf?

  • very sad...but very true for many of us who have missed a chance :'(

  • Why do I keep falling in love with Sara Jane Potts and all kind of lookalikes (short haired, round faced, understanding melacholic eyes, this 'I'm softer than cream' appearance)...who are, sadly enough, very often lesbians.

Strange. It's like evolution made faces and appearances too link with the inner side of a soul :-)-)

  • i totally understand you. I keep falling for the same line of guys. It is a pattern. Something's gotta give.

  • haha nice comment ^^

  • sarah jane potts.... :D

  • woah' thats sad :|

  • Great short film. I agree about the waitresses line about asking if you want something and the thoughtful look he gets as she walks away.

  • nice...

  • have you used royalty free music? or this something that was made for you? x

  • The music was written for the film by our lovely composer, Deborah Mollison.

  • theres something about this film that really strikes a chord for me, i know exactly what this guy is talking about, its gotta be personal experience, i actually wish he'd got to know her...

  • I think the line at the end was supposed to be the moral of thee entire thing. The waitress said"just ask if you want something". And he never had the chance to ask Emma out

  • Well done for spotting that, very few people do!

  • please anyone...what is this film about??

    I don't get it...

    but it looks so sad.

  • I really like this video.. Really nice..

  • i loved the bus fitting the window. good work.

  • beautiful. i loved it.

  • i am a little confused but i <3ed it and everyone if you don't get it then just ask someone..... :)

but don't ask me cause i am not the person to ask!!!

  • Very interesting, good way of making a very valid point.

  • well that was cool - and more artfully done than telling mark.

  • Very nice work, Guy! I had to watch t twice because I thought I'd missed something (no pun intended). A sweet way of saying take life by the horns 'cause you don't know what's just around the corner. Thankyou!

  • Wait... I didn't get that. I got "Telling Mark", but not this. I'm confuddled.

  • Beautiful.

A stunning piece of art, a message we all need.

    Thank you.

  • Oh that was perfect. And really makes you think about using the time we have wisely and not wasting it. I love your work.

  • I LOVE these british films.THey always seem to be touching my conscience.

  • Missed, telling mark n delusion are three of the most shortest yet profound short I had seen since a long time. Awesome! Decker u write and direct them. They are incredible, the story lines, the use of background sound, the subtlety of words and mood. Congratulation and please keep up the good work.

  • Great short

  • I've just subscribed after watching "Delusion" and this one is even better (to me of course, I'm not a pro when it comes to filming techniques)... I can't believe you've managed to make me think about so many things in two short films lasting about 15min altogether!!!!

  • This is great, your use of lighting is again stunning :) Subscribed.

  • Really good last line. It was well chosen.

  • Im noticing a theme in his films...

  • You are...wierd. The name is an homage to a band

(btw, there are no delusional girls in either of his films, a delusional guy, yes, but no delusional girls)

  • what that heck is your problem? She was only stating that she's noticed a theme in his films. so rude

  • Don't feed the troll guys.

  • I'm sorry that i did that, but being random and way off base makes me realize this: you being spontaneously messed up brings more response than talking about the actual subject. sorry. I'll stop being the attention whore now. Sociology experiment and all that.

  • True, it's the Youtube way. No worries.

  • Yeah, good film and all, but you gotta check your script man. 1 thing that needs to changed in the script is this: no coffee ever costs $1.50 per cup in any coffee place! everything else was cool.

  • There speaks someone who's never been to London - I was somewhere yesterday where you had to pay £2.10 for a coffee, that's just over $3!

  • I hope you do understand that i said that in good Humor. I mean the film is awesome. Its got that intense feeling to it. I just tried to break the tension by putting "ice-breaker" humor all the while making me look like a jerk. Intentionally.

Here's another example: 2.10 pounds is stil .60 more than the 1.50 mentioned in the movie! what, are the saudis drilling for coffee grounds nowadays?!?!

    -n'joi.

  • Don't worry, I didn't think you were being picky. That Austin Powers film was right when they showed Dr. Evil's organisation having turned from crime and running Starbucks instead because it was more profitable!

  • Its not dollars! lol

  • Good call lucisue. I didnt notice it the first time I watched it.

  • this really seems to display the importance of detail within short films. Nothing extra, everything had a meaning. Beautiful.

  • dreamer? or was it his pickupline?

  • nice save @ 2:04

  • wonderful job! you really know how to layer depth in such a short film! 5*

  • i would love it to see one of his actual movies.. i think it would be a hit.. ^^

  • What I cannot believe is that such a great short film would only receive 631 views.

  • I liked this one very much, and absolutely prefer it to "Telling Mark."

Very simple, yet you managed to contain so much depth and precision in remarkable brevity.

  • there's a definite theme to this guy's films

  • i don't get it =]

  • its pretty much about how this guy hears about a co-workers death, and although he didn't really know her, he felt bad. after hearing this, he sees emma, the dead girl, walk by the cafe he was working in, and tells her that everyone thought she was dead. he then catches up with her, and tells her about how he felt guilty and that if he hadn't stopped her and not invited her, then he could have never gotten the chance to know her. when she hears this, she says, "well, i'm here now," and they show

  • his reaction, and then an empty chair opposite of him. so she was dead all along, but thats where the beauty lies; shes actually dead, but thats what it could have been if she were alive.

    get it?

  • Oh maaan...that's so sad! ='(

  • I liked this one too. It is sort of like a Twilight Zone, with perhaps just a hint of "White Noise" what with the laptop computer and all.

  • Subscribed.

  • I enjoyed both of your short films. They had similar premises, but the emotion is what makes them shine. Great work!

  • yeah!

  • that was awsome im subscribeing that was just great

  • I really liked this short film.

The actor who played Will and the actress who played Emma were also in a TV programme called Sugar Rush.
