I read that Nelvana is supposed to be the name of a Canadian superhero character. But I've never seen or heard of a superhero with the name, and I'm Canadian...
Yeah, Nelvana was the original name for the female superhero back in the 1940's, created by Adrian Dingle. But Michael Hirsch, Patrick Loubert, and Clive A. Smith took the name for the company in 1971. I don't know why they use a Polar Bear as part of their logo, when they probabally could've used the superhero!

My favorites are the first, second, and third logos. The third logo has a beautiful chime chorus.
