The fact of the matter is the rights we have are God given and no law or government or elected official can remove them. The government has been breaking it's promises to the American people since day one. When our economy causes riots in the streets those same government officials will be running for cover. The only thing I'd add is that it's not only the content of the NDAA that strips authority from the Constitution, but also the very act of passing an unconstitutional law (any such law) which we can reasonable expect to be permanent, and be enforced. I'm not prone to totally rule out a peaceable return to moral government, but it seems less likely all the time.

There are new laws being proposed in the house and senate (H.R. 3166 supported by Charles Dent of PA), (Sl 1698 supported by Joseph Lieberman, CT) What these bills "do" is effectively strip a person of their citizenship, and EXPORT THEM. (where, I don't know. It could be an "internal" gulag similar to what the Soviets did to their dissidents and supposed "criminals".) Let's hope that these are not psychiatric hospitals like the Soviets had. Check this out.

This may be a good thing. Naomi Campbell had a point about --if the military becomes able to arrest US citizens they can arrest congressmen too. She rightly pointed out that in the history of the world, once the military takes over police duties the first people arrested are the current government officials. @JInks232 from the "requirement" to be placed in military prison. The NDAA is similar to "Lettres de cachet" arrest warrants that could have been purchased in pre-Revolutionary France. Once you are arrested nobody will ask questions. You will not be able to test issues of interpretation.

Hey Warren, I am looking at the right bill? I found this language in the 2012 NDAA, S.1867.PCS, Sec 1032 REQUIREMENT FOR MILITARY CUSTODY. Item (b)1.
" b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens- (1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States."

The fact of the matter is the rights we have are God given and no law or government or elected official can remove them. The government has been breaking it's promises to the American people since day one. When our economy causes riots in the streets those same government officials will be running for cover. History shows that leaders like them will be found hanging from trees by the hand of their disgruntled citizens very soon. We are free and don't let anyone even think of taking that away.

This is a really significant (and spot-on) message, Warren. The only thing I'd add is that it's not only the content of the NDAA that strips authority from the Constitution, but also the very act of passing an unconstitutional law (any such law) which we can reasonable expect to be permanent, and be enforced. I'm not prone to totally rule out a peaceable return to moral government, but it seems less likely all the time.

@UNDERDOGTAHOE Well, drones are a little off-topic so I hope Warren doesn't mind a diversion - but, years back as an IT specialist, the professional literature I followed painted a pretty clear picture that, after 9/11, the Dept. of Defense was trying to design robotic soldiers, of which drones are arguably an aerial prototype. A hard-to-damage fighting machine that knows neither pain, fear, fatigue, nor compassion has the potential to dramatically alter the conduct of war in terrible ways.
