@TBConsumption except that this is still cruel. We always states it's the parents being cruel to their children when we do this to children. We also state the same that it's cruel for pet owners to do this to their pets. Why do these birds have a moral circle that separates them off from other animals, just because we keep the other animals as pets.
@ianhargreaves80 these ducks and geese naturally over feed themselves before migration. their bodies are designed for it. cows are not meant to be overstuffed. neither are pets. it's how the ancient egyptians discovered foie gras in the first place. (dan barber discusses this, look up the video online.) the animals are not miserable. check out hudson valley foie gras, those animals have plenty of space, and are free to roam their entire lives, even during the gavage feeding process.
