I think it is so funny how all the malamute and husky videos always contain these debates about which one it is! Everyone wants to sound like the dog breed expert and forgets to just enjoy the video! She is adorable by the way :))
oh that is too cute.. Reminds me of my malamute that I used to have, and how she was with her favourite toys.. but she unfortunately passed away recently.
Oh my goodness! How this oh-so-cute video brought such a smile to my face! I didn't think this poor pooch was gonna get her head out from under the dresser but, at least she finally got her toy! :)
i was wondering if anyone could help me as i am sure that most of you keep this type of dog and i have done a considerable amount of research on this breed
The first one is can i let one of the lead as i live in the countryside with only a few roads and large open spaces and luckily no sheep.
The second is do i need to reinforce my fence down into the ground to stop them digging?
Thank you for taking the time to read this and post a reply
My malamute is a good escape artist, so a good fence is a good idea, as they do love to dig. Living in the countryside is a great place for them, especially for plenty of exercise. The only thing is that my malamute tends to attack certain dogs, so I'm weary of letting her off the lead. But I wouldn't hesitate if I didn't live in such a built up area, so I think you will be fine being in the country.
Mals have an high migrating instinct, and love to roam. Also their predatory instinct is pretty high too.
While i don't do it, nor recommend it, It can be done. With A massive amount of training and time, and bonding, it could happen( also depends on the dog itself).
And secondly, YOU MUST REINFORCE THE FENCE!!! My Mal Zeus(Ironic) has literally ripped(by pushing) the chainlink off the frame of the fence and slide underneath. I personally had to cement the bottom of the fence to the ground.
Reading below, I see there was a debate as to what kind of dog this is. I own a Malamute and a Siberian Husky. This girl is ALL malamute. When you put both breeds side by side, there is no doubt! Your little girl is gorgeous! Awesome video.
i really love that kind of dog; they're so lovely. unfortunately my house is to small for one and i don't have time to walk one frequently. i have a spanieXcollie bitch and she's perfect

uhm...a husky is a general term for sled dogs. within the group there are several breeds with the term 'husky' in their name, but mals are a kind of husky. also the siberian husky has patterns like that so wtf are you talking about
@LUVDWF01 well, if it was a full grown dog maybe you were right about the skinny part but this one is 16 months and female. I think that when she is fully grown she'll be twice as big as a husky
Its a malamute, you can tell because of the curled tail and the darker fluffier coat. Anywayd BEAUTIFUL dog!! Sooo cute

@harpmassage Yes, indeed. Mals also tend to look Husky-like at that age.

@kyedhenfemale mals are nothing like huskies/ys.
Husy is a breed and malamute is a breed, if you want a term for them, at least call them sled dogs of snowdogs
