Check this race out here on youtube. Just type in the search box: (2002 6-Speed Maxima VS 2009 Maxima)

Remember the 2002 maximas came with only 255hp and 246lbs of torque to your 2009 max that has 290hp and 261 torq. The 2002 max wins this race everytime.

I love the maxima, but I have to say I had a 2002 maxima SE with a automatic. its 0-60 time was 6.2 seconds and its quarter mile was 14.6 sec. My 2002 was faster than the 2009 all day. This new CVT transmittion I can't stand in the new ones. The best maximas were from 1996-2003. all of thos were made in Japan and were made better than the 2004-2010 maximas which are all made in the USA. So if a 2002 and 2003 maxima can smoke a 2010 with only 255hp at 246lbs of torque, then somethings wrong!!

@wsteagall Only a 6spd Manual 2002 will run with a 2009 with CVT. A CVT will destroy a 4spd or 5spd Automatic, especially one with 35HP less. New Maximas do 0-60 in less than 6 seconds and run low 14s on the 1/4 mile. A 2002 Auto will be lucky to break 15. Seriously, drive a Maxima wit CVT and your opinion will very likely change.

@arcenal352 are you serious ? Now i've seen 2002-2003 maxima with the 4sp auto do 15 flat in the 1/4. Intake and exhaust would make you do 14.9 easy maybe 14.8 .

@wsteagall 1999 was the last year Nissan Maxima's were made in Japan. My 2011 Maixma SV has a turbo which makes it 340 hp and somewhere shy of 270(ish) ld of torque....i dont think your maxima would win...just saying. Even though the new ones are made in TN. The parts are still shipped from Japan. Engines are still made in Japan.

i wasnt really sure what he meant, because aside from the obvious difference, a noticeable difference is that you always get power when flooring it. if you see a 0-100mph video of the g35 sedan, youll see that 3rd and 4th gear are both very long so when the car shifts, theres about 3 seconds where the acceleration is lacking because the car isnt in the right rev range

like, if your just a normal driver, and dont really pay attention to the car you get, and it can get you from point a to point b, would you know the difference whether a car was an auto or CVT? i ask because my dad got a rental lexus hybrid with the CVT(his first time driving one) and didnt notice a difference at all.

i guess you wouldnt really notice the difference when driving normally except for the fact that you dont hear the gears change...a normal driver who doesnt know about gears or any shit like that would never notice at all...its surprising how much low end power it has, like i said, normal driving the revs almost never hit 3k because its so quick to accelerate with little revs..great on gas mileage for the amount of power your getting
