i dont know much about blue october, but i downloaded this song on itunes and had to check out the song live. I fell in love with this song the first time i heard it. if i had to guess this is one of those songs that was written from experience, unlike most of what is out there, its not just puff

We also dicovered them by accident, about three years ago at Fourth Street Live in Louisville. We thought they were just some "local" band, because every person in the crowd was singing along word for word... I couldn't believe how good they were. They have the BEST live show of any band, that most people have never heard of. They take performing live seriously, and NOBODY leaves disapointed..!!! Listen to "What If We Could" for a great hard rock song... AWESOME ..!!! Great Video...!!!

OMG!! Awesome!!! I just recently discovered this band when "so you think you can dance" choreographed a dance using one of their songs. I don't remember which one but I took down the name of the group and I have now bought two albums and can't stop listening to them!! I have rarely fallen in love with a band so fast! How come we don't hear more about them? Of course most of my favorites are not mainstream. Tom Waits being my altime fav. This song live is so full of emotion, just Awesome!!!!!!

Not true. It's not really about anyone specific, just anyone he hurt when he was using. But if you had to pick one person he wrote it about, it would his ex. It completes the three song story of Ugly Side (when he meets her) Calling You (loves her but is using behind her back) and Hate Me (she helped him get clean but it ruined what they had.)

It's generalized. It's really for everyone he hurt. But the whole mom thing, is he's just reflecting on his life in general. Going down the hallway and each room has a different memory from his life. And, that was actually his mom in the video, which is cool. But look up the "Blue October Frontman Asks Ex to Hate Him" interview. Or some other interviews he's done about it. He has some real good stories about things that inspired the song.

I just think, the song is a plea for everyone you hurt to hate you because you're going to commit suicide and if they hate you, they won't be hurt, because well, you've hurt them enough. "never say you love me just to put it in my face" kinda like "never say you're rich just to put it in my face" she has something he is still trying to achieve. the song's about his mom but you are right, music is interpretive and people use it for whatever they want. enough said. peace!
