Sanwa makes an arcade video splitter called a VC-J2. In addition to passing through the arcade video signal to the arcade machine, it outputs an s-video signal which can be used for recording.
I used a Sanwa for this record, but Seimitsu's LS-32 is quite good as well. I got Death GM without learning Sanwa, so you can definitely excel with either. These days I think I like Sanwas better overall, but it's largely preference and neither will hold you back.
JLF, balltop. This came standard on a brand new Astro City arcade control panel so I didn't order the exact part, but I think it's a JLF-TP-8. I'm pretty sure all the JLFs feel the same once they're installed though.
oh. do they sell these machines in the us? or at least have them in the arcades because i played tgm2 in the arcade and it said some shit about how its not suppose to be outside japan or something.
I am ashamed when I play too. I can see myself playing the first two seconds like you and then I kill myself because "it wasn't fast enough". Only that you are faster than me ;)
Heh. Probably 80% of the people who watch this won't even reach GM rank in TGM2+ (let Death Mode). Me as well, being somewhat in the low 500-600s in there.
Every time I watch a TGM3 video I really like to listen to the relaxing music which starts at the level 300 segment, so a nice contrast to the constant (yet still somewhat easy) rotating and dropping blocks.
Nice work. Is it essential to beat the staff roll sequence in order to earn the Grandmaster rank, or is it awarded beforehand)?
Not only to you have to beat it, but to get GM you have to earn a more difficult staff roll where the pieces are invisible immediately after they lock. Also, it takes more than survival... You have to beat it in style to get GM.
Heh, but that's good. Arika sells a coin muncher to the arcade owners, and the player has 'something to do' with a new challenge, after he beat the two arcade games before in the series.
If Arika make/made a TGM4, I really would be surprised if they would still increase the number of tetrominoes dropped per second (what refers to "speed")? Actually it would be interesting how much a human is able to handle. In the video I noticed you only made minor errors, you did very well (kudos).
Yes, the average number of tetrominoes dropped per minute or per second are the usual measure of speed. TPMs of about 230 are the record for a human playing in a perfectly speed-tuned environment. The theoretical machine limit in those environments is a bit more than twice that (about 540).

What kind of joystick where you using at the time, and would you say the ls-32 is a good joystick for tgm?

Exactly what Sanwa model do you use and do you use a balltop or bat?

Cool that's what I have. Do you use a diamond gate?

I do. That's the way game was meant to be played.

Where can I get some of the songs from TGM3?
ALackOfLife 2 years ago
I noticed the "Hardening Drops" theme gets remixed in TGM2 and 3, pretty cool.

are you playing on an actual machine or emulator (rom file)?
thizzboy99 3 years ago
An actual machine. Also it doesn't have roms it has a hard drive and emulation doesn't make sense because it's on the Taito Type X platform.

thizzboy99 3 years ago
Nah, they were never officially distributed outside Japan. Though there are a few here and there, the most well known TGM3 being in Seattle.
Oh and for what it's worth TGM3 doesn't have a territorial warning message. Not that those have legal implications anyways.

ok thanks.
