All i got to say is this. I am from Moncton, NB, where there is 60 Eng and 40 Fr. I have lived here most of my life. The French are fucking stupid. They are rude as well. I got more capabilities in a working career than any Frenchman, yett I can't get a job because i am not bilingual!! Pick a stupid Frenchman over a qualifed English everytime. And by the way this is not Quebec, where I have to learn French.
You really have no leg to stand on here. I just provided you with an exorbitant amount of relative information that proves without a shadow of a doubt that I am correct.
Who cares if Quebec borders Ontario? St Lawrence Seaway travels over 3700 km all the way through Ontario and most of the way to Winnipeg and yet the commission itself is based in Quebec, weird, no? I didn't say it was 100 % french, I said 100% of the the people who work there are french. I did tell Harper and he even said that Canada IS NOT a bilingual country. Our own PM said that!
3) Not the point. I have more experience than most of the people currently working there, the only part I don't have is the french. If I am not working with the public why do I need french? Please, enlighten me. However, you comment is spoken like a true fucking hypocritical french frog. Want a government job? Try speaking ENGLISH because the way you guys speak english is ATROCIOUS!
4) What good is moving going to do? Even in Alberta you need french to get a government job
@albertabeefcowboy84 Thanks for the insults; I actualy teach English in Quebec and had many experiences where English Canadians started bashing French people while I was there because they thought I was English (so my accent probably isn't that bad)
Why do you need French for a non public job? Because a French co-worker, paying taxes, should be allowed to speak French at meetings to better express some opinions that are sometimes hard to translate. If everybody is bilingual, no-one will mind
See? Why would you want to work under such conditions? The French despise the English because they want to split from Canada and form their own country.
"Why do you need French for a non public job? Because a French co-worker, paying taxes, should be allowed to speak French at meetings to better express some opinions that are sometimes hard to translate. If everybody is bilingual, no-one minds
That's not the point. I pay more taxes than most people in Canada. Quebecois pay less.
"And about 100 more answers to your posts but I'm tired and:"
Typical lazy french bastard. I took hours to give you my information, which you know is correct so at least you can attempt to answer on ALL my posts. If you don't, well that just proves my point even more.
Bet you don't even HAVE a government job so exactly why I am even talking to you is beyond me.
@albertabeefcowboy84 I worked for National Defense for a while so I do have some experience and know (from experience) that it is not bilingual. I never complained though, understanding that Canada is 80% English. Rather than whining like some people do, I did my job. After my second degree I moved on.
No, I will not take time to answer all your posts in 500 character posts. Sorry but I have real work as well.
I worked for DND too, as did my father and his office was inundated with french competing with english all the time. He grew tired of the tirade because it was always the French who won jobs, not because of their education but by what language they spoke.
Quebec people don't work. They get everything handed to them on a silver platter because they have a french name. They get hired automatically within the government not for education skills but for language skills, even though they are probably as poor in english as I am in french.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Don't say too much, you have a tendency towards exageration (Qc people paying less taxes = BS... and being unemployed: 7.2% exactly the Canadian average in July 2011 (ww w.statcan. gc. ca/subjects-sujets/labour-travail/lfs-epa/lfs-epa-eng.ht m) ) Enough please...
I didn't say Quebec people pay less. You seem to have a tendency of putting words in my mouth. I said Quebec people pay less taxes than ME. Nor did I say that Quebec people are unemployed. I said that they don't work. That may be a semantic difference in your opinion but let me explain. Most government workers are french, and the majority of all government workers said that they finish work in 3 hours or less and spend the rest of the time on social networking sites.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Ok so Quebecers work less? Why was it EASY for me to get a job in Alberta BECAUSE I was a Quebecer since ALL the employers I have had overthere (4) said the same thing: "We like employing Quebecers, they are hardworkers!" (I have construction, tourism and teaching work experience in Alberta).
Once again: your prejudice and reality are different things.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Ask a couple of contractors, hotel managers, principals... you'll see what the reputation is (and don't just ask one if you do... go for a reliable amount and they will tell you: harworkers.)
Tourism: Lots of money and free time in the airline business, enough to study at university full time while living in 2 different cities/provinces and traveling around the world. Great job, just didn't challenge me enough at the time. (had to be bilingual; English + another language)
There is no money in tourism so I caught you in another lie since you said you made a lot of money. Airline stewards don't make great amounts of money. Travelling around the world? Probably to the same two cities every flight.
@albertabeefcowboy84 LAST proof you don't know much about the world: try 48$/hour for an airline (between Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, all of North America etc.) and in case you didn't know: in some restaurants in Alberta (outside your usual fast food hangouts) some people spend 1000$ or more per meal just on wine (yes, some people are richer than you!) and tip accordingly.
Get your facts right (i.e. better sources), get a life, get out of your basement, travel and live a little.
I know more about the world than most people since I was on airplanes since I was 3 months old. I rarely eat at fast food joints and of course some people spent upwards of $1000 on wine. I am of the top 0.5% richest Canadians so there is not many people richer than me unless you want to go outside Canada.
My facts are right, if you don't want to believe them, that's your problem. I have a life, unlike you, thanks. I am not in my basement, and that's probably where you are.
@albertabeefcowboy84 I said I wouldn't reply anymore but I had to call your BS one last, very last time. Please only reply with an insult and don't try to justify yourself again.
IF YOU ARE PART OF THE RICHEST 0.5% OF CANADIANS, WHY DID YOU BEGIN THIS WHOLE ARGUMENT OVER HOW YOU COULDN'T GET A JOB FOR THE GOVERNMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE???
Was it all lies and BS or just madness?? Don't know, don't care anymore. Have a good life!
Obviously because the richest Canadians DON'T work for the government. Nope, not lies or BS. Seeing that I couldn't get a government job, I formed my own corporation and put most of my taxable income into it so instead of paying 50% taxes, I am only paying 16%. Smart, right? If you don't care then why did you start this whole charade when its obvious that I am right. The truth hurts doesn't it. LOL! Stupid french liberal..
The difference is I spent my own money travelling, you went on somebody else's dime and you were working. BIG difference. I have traveled the world already and when I get some time off work, I plan to do a lot more of it. I live a little everyday and I have done things that you only dream of doing.
Why would you want a degree in tourism? There is no money in that. Teachers have a good pension when retiring and have 4 months off a year so that is a good job.
Its not prejudice if its true and it is. All my facts have been proven.
@albertabeefcowboy84 This is as bad as some people here who believe in bad English and good French. You do the same, just reversing roles. I treat those French people the same way by telling them a different language is not a disease, it just opens your mind to different cultures.
I would suggest you go live in Quebec for a while and experience it for yourself. I believe I can guess your answer but if you ever do, I'll buy you a drink and introduce you to evil separatists who all speak English
There is NOTHING in this world that would entice me to enough to move voluntarily to Quebec. NOTHING. I used to travel there often enough and have experienced enough to know that I don't like it.
Well, with the death of Jack Layton and that french separatist leading the NDP, I hope we finally see Quebec separate from Canada.
Its not really bilingualism, its frenchification. Our own Prime Minister, Steven Harper, has even said that Canada is NOT a bilingual country.
You want equal status in french? Here's an idea, move to France, because most Canadians do not want you here. You are destroying this country with your language barriers.
English is the worldwide language of business and finances so why should french be promoted outside of Quebec? So much of our debt is directly attributed to promoting bilingualism.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Concerned about money? How much would it cost to hire two groups of employees: some French, some English? More than hiring all bilingual ones. Nobody is forcing you to learn French, but for some jobs (i.e. jobs where you will serve French and English people) you have to be bilingual.
Go back to France? I'm 13th generation in Canada from Portugal, my neighbor (who doesn't speak English) is a Donovan... no link to France.
Really? How much money on printing bilingual signs? BILLIONS of dollars!! If no one is forcing me to learn french then why can't I find a job where bilingualism isn't required? Why does working in the government require you to be bilingual when you are not in direct contact with people? My ancestors discovered North America, so its cool that both yours and my family go way back.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Bilingualism is mandatory because if you ever ask for a promotion/transfer and are denied for not speaking both official languages you'll complain to your union and cost a lot of money then for not being able to fully assume your new position.
Air Canada (for which I used to work) is a great example of that: they are short on French speakers in all departments because they accepted non bilingual employees for a long time. The government is trying to prevent that.
@albertabeefcowboy84 (second comment) Costing billions? Come on! Signs are not bilingual all over the country (I've lived in 4 provinces and visited 9). Being forced to offer French classes to non-bilingual employees who want promotions is expensive though. Easy solution: hire only bilingual employees.
A friend of mine works on a comittee in Ottawa with 10 officialy bilingual economists yet she is not allowed to speak French because the "bilingual anglophones" don't understand French! Fair?
They are bilingual in Ontario even though Ontario is not a bilingual province (explain THAT one). Bilingual employees are theoretically francophones so that means that anglophones are being left out of most jobs. Easiest way is rarely the right or best way.
Second comment: Yes, that is extremely fair. If you want french, move to Quebec. French has no place in Ontario. If she cannot learn to speak english then she should be living AND working in Quebec.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Eastern and Northern Ontario has many French speakers. In many communities you walk into a store and are greeted in French and signs are not bilingual thoughout the province. And for that friend of mine: she lives and works in Gatineau so she is in Quebec.
It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government.
So what if there are many french speakers in Ontario? They CHOSE to live there, then they CHOSE to speak english. If I walk into a store and I am greeted in french, I walk out and they don't get my business. "French and signs are not bilingual thoughout the province." Wanna bet? They so are. "And for that friend of mine: she lives and works in Gatineau so she is in Quebec." So which is it? On a previous post you said she works in Ottawa then you now say she works in Gatineau.
Not everyone can retain multiple languages at once. Its not an intelligence issue. Also, language training is not free and takes a lot of time to learn. People, especially older, more experienced people don't have the time to train in it.
"It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government." If that's the case, then francophones must be the stupidest people in Canada!
"It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government." As well, from the way I see and hear french people try to speak in english (badly) then I say that they are not bilingual at all since no one can understand what they are saying in english because their accent is atrocious. I would rather hire someone with actual job skills rather than hire someone who has no skills and can speak english and french, wouldn't you?
@albertabeefcowboy84 Being able to speak both languages is an essential skill for those jobs. If you don't have it, you don't get the job. Not bilingual = not competent for those jobs.
As for the accent, would you say Irish, Indians and Australians shouldn't be allowed to get those jobs either?That would be ridiculous!
Qc made English mandatory from grade 1 elementary through college (cegep), It might be why we're at an advantage there (and it was proposed by the evil separatist PQ ;o) )
Being able to speak both languages is not a job skill. Its a language skill. You let me know when you find an Irish, Indian or Australian that speaks french and then we'll talk.
Quebec made english mandatory and they should! English is the language of business and economics the world over. If quebecois didn't have french, they would be left behind. I was in french emersion (in ontario) for 4 years and I have taken french every yr in high school until OAC.
However, since I haven't taken it or used it since then, my french has collapse into rudimentary knowledge now.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if the french had the job skills to go along with the language skills, but sadly they don't and still they get good government jobs. However, you can see how well the government functions (poorly\0 because of french workers/managers who really don't know what the hell they are doing.
@albertabeefcowboy84 Your accusations are based on no facts, just on intolerance and your own personnal "victimization".
Rather than saying: "to get this job I will do this..." you say: "I'll never get the job because..." Do French people say "We'll never get the job because 75% of the time we'll have to speak English" ? No, they get off their a** and do what they need to do to get the job.
If you expect to have everything handed to you without making an effort, maybe you are to blame..
French training costs money. I have spent over $ 75 000 for my education and am still paying more to finish my 3rd degree. Do you honestly think that I will be able to afford to pay out MORE money for french training AFTER my 3rd degree? If you do, there's no question you are an idiot. I have worked my ass off to get my 3 degrees so of course I expected to work for the government in any capacity. However, on my interview the first question they asked is, "Do you speak french?"
I replied with no and they said I basically cannot be hired because I don't speak french. I have loads of experience in what they required. In the job ad, they said bilingualism was not a requirement, but it was an asset. I may not speak french but I have more experience than many people who applied for that job and the person who got was it someone with a french name, no degree in anything, but spoke french! Does that seem right to you? If you truly think yes, then you are a moron.
French people don't have to say "We'll never get the job because 75% of the time we'll have to speak English" because they will AUTOMATICALLY get the job anyway. Look at the lists of government management positions. Not ONE english name in the whole list! Is that fair? The people in those positions have no job skills - only language skills! Language skills should not count for job skills!
@albertabeefcowboy84 I fail to see facts in your reference article. How does that prove anything, where are the numbers (e.g. French people working in government positions etc.)
Continuously depicting yourself as a victim of the system and insulting people are good enough reasons not to hire you, regardless of your training.
You want to learn French? TRAVEL! 6 years in English Canada and about 20 countries visited helped me learn a few things not taught in school.
I gave you all that if you would just look at all the f a c e b o o k groups I referenced for you. Where had I ever swore at a potential employer? I am not the only "victim". ALL anglophone Canadians are victims as well. There are thousands if not millions of us who are tired of this double standard of employment.
I have traveled the world and probably more versed in different cultures than you will ever be.
@albertabeefcowboy84 So please, provide numbers (actual facts, reports from reliable sources with adequate support) to the following claims:
- Quebecers get everything handed to them (don't mention equalization payments unless you have stats on how much Canada saves by Qc paying for its own: immigration services, police services, student loans/grants etc.)
- Quebecers getting all the jobs (stats of employees by province and first language please)
I just gave you all that! Don't tell me you can't read as well! Just assume I am right from the beginning because it would save me time proving it later!
h t t p://w w w.f a c e b o o k .com/groups/C L F group/?view=permalink&id=10150258820753357
@albertabeefcowboy84 Once again: where are the numbers? I canshow you tons of similar articles arguing the opposite with a simple google search. Blogs abd columns are based on opinions not FACTS!
Show me numbers/facts as to how the evil French people control the governement in Canada and then I will agree with you.
Look up any the AUDITOR GENERAL OF CANADA's many reports on the topic and they may open your eyes to REALITY (not your semi-racist friends/sources' fiction)
Funny how you call US racists and yet when you demand equality you call it preserving your heritage and when we demand the same, you call us racists and bigots.
@albertabeefcowboy84 So I see that one of the articles has numbers saying the annual costs to the federal government are about $500M for language training so now do you see how hiring only bilingual employees would save us all money?
Then there is that $7B cost they "believe" it costs for what? Extra paint on signs around airports and national parks? Or do they include the salary of every single bilingual civil servant? (which they need to do a job anyway)
You are missing the point. If we scrap bilingualism completely from Canada then we would have no reason to spend money on language training and bilingual employees.

@albertabeefcowboy84 This article mentions that Canadians visiting Quebec have to pay to see a doctor, that means Quebecers also have to pay when outside their province (I have paid those fees before in Alberta and BC, then filled in a form and got my money back; very simple process.) One of the reasons Quebec pulled out of the program is that there was a flow of people from NB and Ontario coming in to get French service they couldn't get in their province and it cost us a lot.
That's BS that people in NB are not getting service in french. Every service is in french there! Second, why would a person from Ontario want to voluntarily go to Quebec to go see a doctor when we have ones here? If you want bilingual doctors in Ontario and live in Ontario then perhaps she should move back to Quebec or even N.B.

Its not really bilingualism, its frenchification. Our own Prime Minister, Steven Harper, has even said that Canada is NOT a bilingual country.
You want equal status in french? Here's an idea, move to France, because most Canadians do not want you here. You are destroying this country with your language barriers.
Why so much hate language is all made up. None is better than the other. We are love our families,want help the underdog,be fair,be polite win the gold in hockey,curling, heck any sport
It's kind of hard to feel bad for a bunch of ignorant square heads who are too lazy to learn another language! I hope you all realize that you had been doing the same thing to french people for a couple hundred years only it was much much worse! We only have receive equal status a few decades ago. It's so funny that when you assholes where fully in charge and abusing your power, we patiently waited and refused to be assimilated, because we knew eventually our day would come.
That's how it should be! You have now 2 provinces (Quebec and now NB) to live and work in! Are not satisfied that you have those?! You need more than language and culture to form a country so Quebec will never be a country. Why stress out the rest of Canada and all anglophones just so a few francophones can have their way?
Do you actually listen to yourself you dumb cowpoke? You have everything except Quebec and New-Brunswick, can't YOU be happy with those! French people actually founded Canada first before it was stolen by the British, do some fucking research before you make yourself look like an idiot with posts like that! I actually feel bad for how you make English people look like retards.
Aren't you french happy with Quebec and New Brunswick? Some of you want to turn the entirety of Canada bilingual which is basically french. Actually maybe YOU should do some research. My ancestors (the vikings) founded Canada so the only idiot here is you, I am afraid. Actually, all I am doing is reinforcing Anglophones position in Canada so in essence I am making Quebec supporters look like retards, which, trust me, is not all that difficult since they are arguably that already.
If You call making a small settlement a l'anse aux méduses, and getting massacred by the Indians, founding Canada then you are a retard! The French where the first to permanently settle large areas and trade and live peacefully with Indians. The British did as they usually did, they came to conquer and they deported the peaceful Acadians and stole all the Indians land. I don't understand why I can learn English but you can't learn French. You are ignorant plain and simple!
Since the indians didn't write anything down, it wasn't discovered yet, moron. The viking were the ones here first. It doesn't matter if anything was here or not. Who cares if the french permanently settled large areas? That doesn't mean they owned the country. They already had a country (France) and if they didn't like it, too bad. The Indians have their own land and even in this day and age they are still fighting for it. Government pays them 50-60k each year tax-free.
The point is I have spent 75k on my education. I am working on my 3rd degree now. I tried to find a job in Ottawa and I couldn't even though my education is far above anything most french/bilingual people have. I cannot find a job in this city because I don't know french. How am I supposed to take french courses without money? How am I to make money without having a job? How can I get a job in this city without french? YOU are the ignorant french lover here. You are the idiot.
French (the language) is in no way equal to the English language. The language of business, finance, economy etc is English. French is being thrust down our throats. Its NOT bilingualism because if it was, English would be protected and promoted like French is. THIS IS frenchification. Promotion of french throughout Canada and to hell with the English language.
Whoever made this video is clearly a narrow minded bigot who only speaks English! In case he doesn't know his history, the french where here first, and most where forcibly deported in 1755. We have every right to have services available in both languages, we fought for our rights and we pay our taxes and contribute to society just as much as any! You can't ignore a minority who is over 1/3 of the population! And also, no one is stopping any of you from educating yourselves and learning French!
The real plan is to put something in poutine that will make all English speaking men infertile so we can mate with your women and turn this whole country French.
You don't want public offices to be bilingual? Fine, hire 1/4 French speakers in public services and see how you react when you call/go somewhere and cannot get English service!
As for censorship: it comes from the fact that your conspiracy theories don't hold ground, not a secret French plan.
Sorry, Quebecois here, I can't stop laughing of you. Glad there's a land just below Quebec where people got respect for everyone. No matters why we sell our raw material to them. It's because Canada is wrong since the first day that loyalists have set foot here. Oh and BTW, I've learned my english because I want to trade with the United-States, not because Canada is "bilingual".
@Corporocracy how do u figure that just because u aren't bilingual the person is uneducated so u r saying if a doctor or a person that has a phd or has a high degree in schooling but is not bilingual is uneducated. U may be educated but u r ignorant to think that way cause i bet u that their is alot of educated people out there and they aren't bilingaul that know as or more then u
@life2short100 I once met a man with Down's syndrome in Barcelona who spoke three languages. If a man who can perform brain surgery has failed to pick up a language spoken by 35% of the people in the city he's lived in all his life, well he might be a fine doctor but as far as language goes, he might be a little thick.
I do believe that the Parti Quebecois and the Bloc Quebecois should be banned. Any Political Party that support seperation and the distruction of a country should be declared illegal. All of it's main leaders should be jailed for life because they are ENEMIES OF THE STATE. I also support the deportation of all supporters of Quebec independence from Canada (This is the softest punishment I support). If the Quebecois seperatist resist this then only as a very last resort we should use deadly means
The Canadian Government should declare the Parti Quebecois and the Bloc Quebecois illegal and ban it. The Canadian Government should then jail all the leaders of the Parti Quebecois and the Bloc Quebecois and then deport their members and supporters from the Dominion of Canada (Province of Quebec belongs to Canada) back to either the Republic of France or to the State of Louisiana in the United States. The Government shold then flood the Province of Quebec with English Speakers to Anglicise it.
I fucking hate you so much! You are a ignorant bigot who needs to stop trying to wrap your feeble little mind around things you can't possibly hope to comprehend! If you don't like the way things are being run here in Canada, go to England or shut the fuck up! If you weren't so ignorant you could learn the language, so to not be at a disadvantage! I have been pulled over by square head cops and I ask them to serve me in french, fucking assholes! But at least they learned!
The problem with the Province of Quebec is it's small Anglophone populaiton. The Province's Anglophone popualiton of 7.8%, Montreal's Anglophone populaiton of 13.2% and Quebec City's Anglophone populaiton at 1.5% are pathetic and in my oppion needs changing. The Province's Anglophone Populaiton must be at least 24.3%, Montreal's Anglophone Populaiton must be atleast 41.2% and Quebec City's Anglophone Populaiton must be at least 31.5%. A bigger stronger population will not get BULLIED in Quebec.
To show British tollerance to the French Language. The British established French as an Official Language along with English on these former British Colonies,, Province of Quebec (1763-1791), Province of Lower Canada (1791-1841), Province of Canada (1841-1867), Dominion of Canada (1867-1831) and the Islands of St Lucia, Dominica, the Seychelles and the even the Channel Islands. No French Colony had EVER had English as an Official Language becuase French are very intollerant people. THIS IS TRUTH
You know what is funny about the French Language. Every major country that has French as a second language it is made an Official Language. Switzerland (German, French and Italian) and Belgium (Dutch and French) but when it comes to English being a second language in Quebec, there are no such luck because French speakers when they are in a majority are 100 times less tollerant of other languages and dont give their languages the same rights that they deserve when they are in the sam posisition.
The Official Language(s) of the State of Hawaii are English and Hawaiian. The populaiton of Hawaii is 1.228.198 people and of this populaiton about 27.160 are Hawaiian speakers. Proportionaly their are less Hawaiian speakers in Hawaii then there are English Speakers in Quebec, but yet Hawiian is an Official Language of Hawaii and English is not an Official Language of Quebec. This is pure selfishness and disgusting behavior at the hands of the Quebecois Language Fascists.
The French Language MUST not be protected at the expense of the English Language in the Province of Quebec, I dont care how dominate we are. The BNA ACT of 1867 decalred English and French as Official Languages of Canada and yes even Quebec. English and French co-exist as equals in the Channel Islands which is part of the United Kingdom where English is the dominent language. If French cant survive on it's own with out Bill 101 and the OLF then it should NOT surivie at all and decline in Quebec.
We are NOT Nazis. Nazis believe in exterminating their enemies by murdering them by Gas Chambers in Extermination Camps, Working to Death in Concentration Camps, Sending Death Squards to shoot them, etc. We are not like that and is disgrace that you would think so badly of us. On the other assimiliation or the Lord Durham variaty is more like us. Assimiliation is not about killing the Quebecois but absorbing them into Anglo Canadian Society, Culture and Anglicising them into the English Language
Their is NO way that the Dominion of Canada would turn complety French, however it is possible to turn it completly English. You see the Canadians would never give up the English Language because it's an Internaiton Language and the most powerfull language in North America, on the other hand it would be easier for the Quebecois to give up French because lets fact it the French Language is not very usefull in the World and in North America particulary. English is RISING, French is DECLINING.
The British were the ones who created the equality between both English and French Languages. The Constitution Act of 1867 declared English and French as Official Languages of the Dominion of Canada and it's Province of Quebec. Canada has kept both Languages (English and French) at the same time Quebec has removed one (English) and kept One (French). The Province of Quebec is in the WRONG and the Dominion of Canada is in tthe RIGHT. English MUST be restored as an Official Language of Quebec ASAP
I am French and I am gonna teach my children that in Canada we are not a bilingual society, we are a multi cultural society with areas that are bilingual in language. So cause we in Canada are multi cultural society are you gonna try to become Indian and teach your kids that in Canada we have a diverse cultural? Another thing, the only reason why you think you should have learned to speak French is cause of the fact that it is forced down your throat all the time! DO NOT CHANGE WHO YOU ARE!!!
The Dominion of Canada is NOT a Multi-Cultural Society. Canada NEVER said it was "A Land Of Immigrants" and never had the policy of "Give Us Your Tired, Your Poor and Huddled Masses Yearning To Be Free". These are United States Slogans and not Canadian ones. The Dominion of Canada was founded to be a homeland for British American Loyalists who fought for King and Empire in the Revolutionary War against the American Rebels. Canada is an "English Country with a Bilingual Province (Quebec)".
You obviously have never walked down Young ST Toronto during the afternoon. Say what you want to. I know what I am saying is true cause I see it with my own eyes. Canada IS a Multi cultural society. Yes Quebec is bilingual your right! Thats what I meant when I said areas that are bilingual, nut i was including New Brunswick! You forgot New Brunswick. You don't need to give me a history lesson either, I'm talking in the present, not the past....and another thing I was not replying to you
It;s a shame that the Dominion of Canada is becoming more Muliti-Cultural. The Dominion of Canada should in way maintain it's English and French Charachter. Multi-Culturalism should be stopped and should be reversed. Multi-Culturalism brings bad things as Islam, the Mob, foreign street gangs that cause mayhem in the streets and transforming certain parts of our cities into no go areas for the native populaiton. Enouch Powel (UK Pollitican) warned us in his Blood Speach about Multi-Culturalism.
I DONT believe that the Province of Quebec should seperate from the Dominion of Canada. Canada should STOP funding to keep the French Languave alive in Quebec. With out funding the French Language will eventualy die out and that English will become the Sole Official Language of both Canada and Quebec. We should encourage the assimiliation of Quebecois into Anglo Canadians and the Anglicisation of Quebec. Quebec must be flooded with English Speaking immigrants to destroy the Frenchness of itself.
The best way to stopping this forced bilingualism on the Rest of Canada is through the Province of Quebec. The Province of Quebec should be swamped with English Speakers to slowly or quickly Anglicising it. The French speaking Quebecois should be assimiliated into English speaking Quebecers and Canadians. You can't stop French being forced down our throats unless the Province of Quebec is Anglicised and the Quebecois are assimiliated, there is no other way. It's time to listen to Lord Durham.

Quebec borders Ontario/Ottawa so I guess it is logical that many offices are here
St-Lawrence Seeway Comission based in Qc? THE ST-LAWRENCE IS IN QC!!!
ROYAL CANADIAN MINT 100% FRENCH?? go to "mint. c a" and crosscheck your info.
And about 100 more answers to your posts but I'm tired and:
1)Canada is officialy bilingual.
2)Don't like it? Tell Harper!
3)'til then: want a government job? Learn BOTH official languages
4)Like you said: "Not happy? Move"

@1curieux
Our own PM said that!
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
Even in Alberta you need french to get a government job
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Thanks for the insults; I actualy teach English in Quebec and had many experiences where English Canadians started bashing French people while I was there because they thought I was English (so my accent probably isn't that bad)
Why do you need French for a non public job? Because a French co-worker, paying taxes, should be allowed to speak French at meetings to better express some opinions that are sometimes hard to translate. If everybody is bilingual, no-one will mind
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux

Bet you don't even HAVE a government job so exactly why I am even talking to you is beyond me.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 I worked for National Defense for a while so I do have some experience and know (from experience) that it is not bilingual. I never complained though, understanding that Canada is 80% English. Rather than whining like some people do, I did my job. After my second degree I moved on.
No, I will not take time to answer all your posts in 500 character posts. Sorry but I have real work as well.
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
I worked for DND too, as did my father and his office was inundated with french competing with english all the time. He grew tired of the tirade because it was always the French who won jobs, not because of their education but by what language they spoke.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
Quebec people don't work. They get everything handed to them on a silver platter because they have a french name. They get hired automatically within the government not for education skills but for language skills, even though they are probably as poor in english as I am in french.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Don't say too much, you have a tendency towards exageration (Qc people paying less taxes = BS... and being unemployed: 7.2% exactly the Canadian average in July 2011 (ww w.statcan. gc. ca/subjects-sujets/labour-travail/lfs-epa/lfs-epa-eng.ht m) ) Enough please...
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
I didn't say Quebec people pay less. You seem to have a tendency of putting words in my mouth. I said Quebec people pay less taxes than ME. Nor did I say that Quebec people are unemployed. I said that they don't work. That may be a semantic difference in your opinion but let me explain. Most government workers are french, and the majority of all government workers said that they finish work in 3 hours or less and spend the rest of the time on social networking sites.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Ok so Quebecers work less? Why was it EASY for me to get a job in Alberta BECAUSE I was a Quebecer since ALL the employers I have had overthere (4) said the same thing: "We like employing Quebecers, they are hardworkers!" (I have construction, tourism and teaching work experience in Alberta).
Once again: your prejudice and reality are different things.
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
These Alberta employers were extremely naive then to think that Quebecers are hard workers. In fact, I would so far as to say you are lying.
My prejudice is reality. My previous 50 posts prove it.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Ask a couple of contractors, hotel managers, principals... you'll see what the reputation is (and don't just ask one if you do... go for a reliable amount and they will tell you: harworkers.)
Tourism: Lots of money and free time in the airline business, enough to study at university full time while living in 2 different cities/provinces and traveling around the world. Great job, just didn't challenge me enough at the time. (had to be bilingual; English + another language)
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
There is no money in tourism so I caught you in another lie since you said you made a lot of money. Airline stewards don't make great amounts of money. Travelling around the world? Probably to the same two cities every flight.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
Not my business if you think $ 13 an hour is a lot of money but it really isn't.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 LAST proof you don't know much about the world: try 48$/hour for an airline (between Hong Kong, London, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv, all of North America etc.) and in case you didn't know: in some restaurants in Alberta (outside your usual fast food hangouts) some people spend 1000$ or more per meal just on wine (yes, some people are richer than you!) and tip accordingly.
Get your facts right (i.e. better sources), get a life, get out of your basement, travel and live a little.
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux

LOL! Stupid french liberal..

albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 This is as bad as some people here who believe in bad English and good French. You do the same, just reversing roles. I treat those French people the same way by telling them a different language is not a disease, it just opens your mind to different cultures.
I would suggest you go live in Quebec for a while and experience it for yourself. I believe I can guess your answer but if you ever do, I'll buy you a drink and introduce you to evil separatists who all speak English

So much of our debt is directly attributed to promoting bilingualism.
albertabeefcowboy84 7 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Concerned about money? How much would it cost to hire two groups of employees: some French, some English? More than hiring all bilingual ones. Nobody is forcing you to learn French, but for some jobs (i.e. jobs where you will serve French and English people) you have to be bilingual.
Go back to France? I'm 13th generation in Canada from Portugal, my neighbor (who doesn't speak English) is a Donovan... no link to France.
1curieux 7 months ago
@1curieux
Really? How much money on printing bilingual signs? BILLIONS of dollars!! If no one is forcing me to learn french then why can't I find a job where bilingualism isn't required? Why does working in the government require you to be bilingual when you are not in direct contact with people? My ancestors discovered North America, so its cool that both yours and my family go way back.
albertabeefcowboy84 7 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Bilingualism is mandatory because if you ever ask for a promotion/transfer and are denied for not speaking both official languages you'll complain to your union and cost a lot of money then for not being able to fully assume your new position.
Air Canada (for which I used to work) is a great example of that: they are short on French speakers in all departments because they accepted non bilingual employees for a long time. The government is trying to prevent that.
1curieux 7 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 (second comment) Costing billions? Come on! Signs are not bilingual all over the country (I've lived in 4 provinces and visited 9). Being forced to offer French classes to non-bilingual employees who want promotions is expensive though. Easy solution: hire only bilingual employees.
A friend of mine works on a comittee in Ottawa with 10 officialy bilingual economists yet she is not allowed to speak French because the "bilingual anglophones" don't understand French! Fair?
1curieux 7 months ago
@1curieux
If she cannot learn to speak english then she should be living AND working in Quebec.
albertabeefcowboy84 7 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Eastern and Northern Ontario has many French speakers. In many communities you walk into a store and are greeted in French and signs are not bilingual thoughout the province. And for that friend of mine: she lives and works in Gatineau so she is in Quebec.
It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government.
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
On a previous post you said she works in Ottawa then you now say she works in Gatineau.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
Not everyone can retain multiple languages at once. Its not an intelligence issue. Also, language training is not free and takes a lot of time to learn. People, especially older, more experienced people don't have the time to train in it.
"It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government." If that's the case, then francophones must be the stupidest people in Canada!
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
"It comes down to one simple thing: too dumb to learn French and English, too dumb to work for the federal government." As well, from the way I see and hear french people try to speak in english (badly) then I say that they are not bilingual at all since no one can understand what they are saying in english because their accent is atrocious. I would rather hire someone with actual job skills rather than hire someone who has no skills and can speak english and french, wouldn't you?
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Being able to speak both languages is an essential skill for those jobs. If you don't have it, you don't get the job. Not bilingual = not competent for those jobs.
As for the accent, would you say Irish, Indians and Australians shouldn't be allowed to get those jobs either?That would be ridiculous!
Qc made English mandatory from grade 1 elementary through college (cegep), It might be why we're at an advantage there (and it was proposed by the evil separatist PQ ;o) )
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
I was in french emersion (in ontario) for 4 years and I have taken french every yr in high school until OAC.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
However, since I haven't taken it or used it since then, my french has collapse into rudimentary knowledge now.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if the french had the job skills to go along with the language skills, but sadly they don't and still they get good government jobs. However, you can see how well the government functions (poorly\0 because of french workers/managers who really don't know what the hell they are doing.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 Your accusations are based on no facts, just on intolerance and your own personnal "victimization".
Rather than saying: "to get this job I will do this..." you say: "I'll never get the job because..." Do French people say "We'll never get the job because 75% of the time we'll have to speak English" ? No, they get off their a** and do what they need to do to get the job.
If you expect to have everything handed to you without making an effort, maybe you are to blame..
1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
However, on my interview the first question they asked is, "Do you speak french?"
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
If you truly think yes, then you are a moron.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84
Not that I would expect a person from Quebec to be smart anyway since they are famous for leeching of the government and other people.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@1curieux
Language skills should not count for job skills!
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84 I fail to see facts in your reference article. How does that prove anything, where are the numbers (e.g. French people working in government positions etc.)
Continuously depicting yourself as a victim of the system and insulting people are good enough reasons not to hire you, regardless of your training.
You want to learn French? TRAVEL! 6 years in English Canada and about 20 countries visited helped me learn a few things not taught in school.

1curieux 6 months ago
@1curieux
That's BS that people in NB are not getting service in french. Every service is in french there! Second, why would a person from Ontario want to voluntarily go to Quebec to go see a doctor when we have ones here? It would be best if we spoke French and drove on the other side of the road. I don,t speak French but the fault is my own.

It's kind of hard to feel bad for a bunch of ignorant square heads who are too lazy to learn another language! I hope you all realize that you had been doing the same thing to french people for a couple hundred years only it was much much worse! We only have receive equal status a few decades ago. It's so funny that when you assholes where fully in charge and abusing your power, we patiently waited and refused to be assimilated, because we knew eventually our day would come.
jacobleb420 11 months ago 3
@jacobleb420
That's how it should be! You have now 2 provinces (Quebec and now NB) to live and work in! Are not satisfied that you have those?! You need more than language and culture to form a country so Quebec will never be a country. Why stress out the rest of Canada and all anglophones just so a few francophones can have their way?
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84
Do you actually listen to yourself you dumb cowpoke? You have everything except Quebec and New-Brunswick, can't YOU be happy with those! French people actually founded Canada first before it was stolen by the British, do some fucking research before you make yourself look like an idiot with posts like that! I actually feel bad for how you make English people look like retards.
jacobleb420 6 months ago
@jacobleb420
Aren't you french happy with Quebec and New Brunswick? Some of you want to turn the entirety of Canada bilingual which is basically french. Actually maybe YOU should do some research. My ancestors (the vikings) founded Canada so the only idiot here is you, I am afraid. Actually, all I am doing is reinforcing Anglophones position in Canada so in essence I am making Quebec supporters look like retards, which, trust me, is not all that difficult since they are arguably that already.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@albertabeefcowboy84
You are ignorant plain and simple!
jacobleb420 6 months ago
@jacobleb420

You are the idiot.
albertabeefcowboy84 6 months ago
@jacobleb420

And also, no one is stopping any of you from educating yourselves and learning French!
jacobleb420 11 months ago
Can we say PARANOIA?

MegaTroll101 1 year ago
Nobody's forcing you to become bilingual. You are all free to remain uneducated and, eventually, obsolete.

Corporocracy 8 months ago
@Corporocracy I agree. You just need to travel to Europe and the majority of the people there have learned to speak 2 or 3 languages.

UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago

UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago

SHAME ON QUEBEC.
UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago

UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago

DO NOT CHANGE WHO YOU ARE!!!
chrisleb411 2 years ago
The Dominion of Canada is NOT a Multi-Cultural Society. Canada NEVER said it was "A Land Of Immigrants" and never had the policy of "Give Us Your Tired, Your Poor and Huddled Masses Yearning To Be Free". These are United States Slogans and not Canadian ones. The Dominion of Canada was founded to be a homeland for British American Loyalists who fought for King and Empire in the Revolutionary War against the American Rebels. Canada is an "English Country with a Bilingual Province (Quebec)".
UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago
You obviously have never walked down Young ST Toronto during the afternoon. Say what you want to. I know what I am saying is true cause I see it with my own eyes. Canada IS a Multi cultural society. Yes Quebec is bilingual your right! Thats what I meant when I said areas that are bilingual, nut i was including New Brunswick! You forgot New Brunswick. You don't need to give me a history lesson either, I'm talking in the present, not the past....and another thing I was not replying to you
chrisleb411 2 years ago
It;s a shame that the Dominion of Canada is becoming more Muliti-Cultural. The Dominion of Canada should in way maintain it's English and French Charachter. Multi-Culturalism should be stopped and should be reversed. Multi-Culturalism brings bad things as Islam, the Mob, foreign street gangs that cause mayhem in the streets and transforming certain parts of our cities into no go areas for the native populaiton. Enouch Powel (UK Pollitican) warned us in his Blood Speach about Multi-Culturalism.
UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago
I DONT believe that the Province of Quebec should seperate from the Dominion of Canada. Canada should STOP funding to keep the French Languave alive in Quebec. With out funding the French Language will eventualy die out and that English will become the Sole Official Language of both Canada and Quebec. We should encourage the assimiliation of Quebecois into Anglo Canadians and the Anglicisation of Quebec. Quebec must be flooded with English Speaking immigrants to destroy the Frenchness of itself.
UnitedEmpireLoyalist 2 years ago
@UnitedEmpireLoyalist this is borderline racism
tcpipman71 8 months ago
The best way to stopping this forced bilingualism on the Rest of Canada is through the Province of Quebec. The Province of Quebec should be swamped with English Speakers to slowly or quickly Anglicising it. The French speaking Quebecois should be assimiliated into English speaking Quebecers and Canadians. You can't stop French being forced down our throats unless the Province of Quebec is Anglicised and the Quebecois are assimiliated, there is no other way. It's time to listen to Lord Durham.
