Brilliant, does a DSL really sound that good? or you are the kind of guy who can plug into a parsnip and sound great. Top drawer, love the neck pup solo.
This pretty much sums all of the emotions I've been feeling the past week up. You have so much feel in your playing and compositions, I wish I could someday reach your level of musicianship :)
Brother, I am Brazilian, I was a fan to hear the sound that plays, I'm guitarist and I congratulate the video, I wish that most guitarists put videos like this, with this quality ... worth it.
@mikkiosantoro1 Thanks. In the Squier i had a Seymour Duncan Lil Sreamin demon in the bridge and a Dimarzio YJM in the neck. In this Strat i have a set of Fender Hot Noiseless.
@TheDonKomninos clean channel: gain/volume:6 treble:2 middle:7 bass:10 and the Gain channel: Gain:10 treble:1 middle:8 bass:10 master volume on about 3. Thanks.
Very cool. Great playing and cool tone, man! I love the DSL 401 It's got such a grunged out tone, yet still sweet. Nice track, check out my stuff if you like...
@ArielAltaratz Thanks. Its a nice amp. Yeah, your description of guitars is spot on. You still might need an overdrive pedal to do brutal metal though. If you can, try to get one made from 2004 on as run a little cooler i believe. the earlier ones have some overheating issues.
@steven5555cool Thanks! I think its a fine pedal especially for the money. It does have a lot of high end though. It works good with the jcm2000 but i'm sure it would be even better with an older plexi or another darker sounding type of amp.
Hey, I have this amp and similar guitar. Could you let me in on some tone setting secrets? Are you still using the DOD on the clean channel? Do you ever get much use out of the middle crunch channel?
@simonjbeaumont Yes, the treble i keep real low at about 1 or 2 with the Strat. If its a darker humbucker guitar i will put it a little higher. The mids are about halfway and the bass is on 10. I'm using a BYOC DOD 250 grey box clone now but i only use it on the red od channel for a boost and some extra gain. I use the yellow od sometimes for a light crunch but not as much as the clean and red od. Thanks for checking out the video.
Cole, I love your style. Great technique without overkill on the solo's... whew!
I found you from that other video on your e-bay listing... "Resurrection" is killer! I have an Epi LP Custom Plus and can't make it sound like that! You're an inspiration !
@Kropas1 Thanks. I will try to do a video with just a guitar and amp in the future, but there are moments when the pedal is not on in my videos.. Its a good, light and affordable tube Marshall.
great sound, saving for a fender highway one strat with gotoh hardware and fender hot noiseless pups, i have v's and explorer's and want a traditional style strat for the family now
@mefmef21 Hi! Thanks. My DSL is from 99' so it runs hot. I've had it for 6 months with no problem. I keep a little desk fan behind it so it keeps cool. It's 11 years old and still here so... I had a TSL122 for 10 years that i did the same thing with and had no problems. That amp was a little too heavy to carry though.. You can plug the 401 into a 4-12 cab if you want a bigger sound. Best of both worlds. I like it for an affordable Marshall combo.
@mtaygoldin Thanks a lot man! yeah the DOD i always kick on for solos for extra gain and sustain. For heavy rhythm parts as well. Not bad for a $29 pedal! The high end can be a little brutal though..
@fredericiscool Hi Thanks. Yes i wrote this. My ADD prevents me from learning others peoples stuff anymore so i write my own! I really like the Hot Noiseless pups for crunchy and high gain stuff especially. The sound is tight and beefy. For clean and chimey stuff they are pretty good, but i think there are better pickups for pure clean playing.
What song is this? I must know O.o

LJOHNS123 2 months ago
@LJOHNS123 Thanks. The house i was playing in had a plastic (i hope) skull there, so i put it on the amp. No real devil worshipping was happening.
