I recommend not piercing your own lip with a safety pin. Use HOT WATER it nums and moistens the tissues so it easier to Stick the needle in and Go from the inside to out not out to inside or it will end up UN straighten. I recommend that for everyone whos going to pierce there lip thats the safest way :)

i pierced my own lip..it didnt get infected..BUT i had an earring in it..and the earring diamond was cutting into my skin..and the back was too tight so it wasnt breathing..so it started to puss up and hurt..but as soon as i got the actual lip piericing...the swelling went away and so did the puss...although im left with scar tissue...around it on the inside

I pierced my own lip...twice I have spider bites and I pierced my nose...all of it came out fine, you just have to know what you're doing. :) People ask me where I got them pierced and I just show them my room hahahaha. I've pierced myself dozens of times, no infections. I'm just fine and my piercingz came out okay, yea it may be "stupid" but oh well, so...there ya have it, get it done the right way if you have the money though. I didn't have it but go to a professional. ;)

my best friend pierced my lip with a safety pin. course we sterilized the pin and jewerly before we did it but my best friend did an amazing job. no problems with it. he did have a hell of a time puttin the jewerly in after piercing it but after a few tries we got it and now its my favorite piercing outta my 5 piercings.

when they pierce you at any Piercing/Tattoo shop, the needles they use are hollow, and punch a hole out of the area.

And piercing guns hold bacteria, so even though your using a new earing, the gun still spreads infection to the area thats been pierced. Most hair salons now use, One Use Guns thats come loaded with an earing, and once its been used you can not force another stud into it.

If your going to pierce it, i recommend getting it done professionally. If you do decide to do it, make sure to do it right and make sure everything is clean. Really REALLY make sure everything is clean. And once you put it in, don't take it out for at least a month. And wash your mouth daily with mouth wash with no alcohol or salt water. If your not careful it can get infected and turn out pretty bad ;D

@ThatcomputerFreek If you put ice on it before you pierce it, it hurts more. The ice tightens the muscles and causes it to be harder to put the needle through, and its more painful. Putting a hot cloth on it loosens the muscles and it goes in a lot easier.

got 2 lip piercings and you should def get them done by a professional. not only is it quicker, cleaner and alot more comfortable, you always know you are going to get a good result they give you aftercare, free rings and studs, my piercing even asked me to come back a week later to check it over... doing it at home is just shit never do it.
