He's just playing songo, which is a rhythmic pattern invented for the drumset by Changuito.

Usually, u don't start a piece with someone soloing. Probably playing a certain melody would be ok but not soloing. The sound of the bass, and the bassist are just awful.

the reason it sounds so bad is because the last 32 bars the same chord. that drummer is great and knowing when to stop during a solo though, the most intense moments were when he came back in after the pauses. also, that guitar player is horrible, he's really what's destroying the groove.

this whole thing is so wrong. the drummer is really bad. they should stop playing after 0:45. hmmmmm, they shouldn't play anyway. they should go home and listen to some music or maybe better to the pub get drunk. this people should be honest with themselves. they spend whole life practicing technique and got lots of expensive equipment but forgot to buy a metronome, and its so easy to get and make it work. just buy it, turn it on and play slowly. so shame.....

he's a really good drummer, but definetely songo is not his expertise and therefore, they shouldn't be teaching it. However, it's also our responsability to look for good drummers around here, like Horacio el Negro Hernandez or some others that you can really notice got more flavor than this guy.

Not sure I agree that only experts should teach.... good teachers should teach. I find people like Haratio Hernandez so far ahead that it is very difficult to pick up what they are doing if, like me, you are a novice at Latin. The best teachers are often people who are just a bit further ahead than you are and know what you're going through ;-)
