  • Agree... But it is the biggest diesel-powered in the world. That´s for sure!

  • Just to confirm, this is not the biggest HSC Catamaran in the world by size or weight.. The HSS 1500 series are, and have been since 1996.

  • Sad it will be pulled

  • Norman arrow fails compared to Norman spirt and Norman leader I've been on all 3 ships also are going from Portsmouth to Le havre? If yes go on the Norman Spirt it has cabins for free.

  • That is nowhere near full power...

I was on the sea trials of this vessel and was watching the GPS speed readout well over 50 knots...

Each water jet is powered by a MAN B&W 20 cylinder turbo diesel (each turbo is nearly a tonne in weight!) putting out 9,000 kW or roughly 12,000hp.

Each engine is approx 50 tonnes and operate at 1,000 rpm at full speed.

There are 4 engines so nearly 48,000hp all up.

This vessel is the third in its class and there is a fourth in drydock almost completed.

  • Super critical wake heaven. incats are a pleasure to drive.

  • lovely video showing the full potential of this amazing Incat 112m catermaran at 40 knts! so proud to it is actually a british registerd vessel but operated by french company LD! nice replacement to the 96 meter incat

  • An even larger diesel powered HSC catamaran is on the way: Austal is building it for Nordic Ferry Services. And, of course, if you include those with gas turbines the HSS 1500 sets the standard

  • @fastshipfan What hp will each of the turbines have?
