I couldn't agree more. I was in the Corps during the early to middle 80s, and today's ponchos are junk. They're not even waterproof. In the past five years, I've noticed a huge trend, but especially in the past year or two, this zombie shit, economic collapse, and 2012 stuff has military surplus items flying off the shelves, so the industry's responding with cheap imitation knockoffs labeled mil spec or surplus, so there's a lot of junk out there, and new ponchos are one of them.
I have a Fostex woodland poncho. On the compress bag where it's came in, stands a number :325238. The surplus where i bought this said it was a American poncho, but i dont know for sure. It is very thick and good quality. twice as heavy and thick as a dutch poncho.
Just picked up a US.GI.Poncho and when my supplier gets more in I'll get one for my son as well as a liner
