Laughing Hyenas on DCTV 1990

I was lucky to have grown up in Ann Arbor. Got to see them once a week for six years. House shows, basements, hardcore gigs, indie rock "concerts" & bar nights. Every setting you can think of from a giant outdoor gig with FUGAZI to a punk house show with hardcore & Oi! bands! Only 3/4 of the HYENAS were present so they played as the "John Brannon Blues Experience" (homage to John Spencer perhaps?) Awesome night with NO REASON WHY & STANDOWN, circa '91. @ Fig & Ted's house, E. University....

I still love this band. Easy Action deserves more credit than I give them, but the Hyenas just cast too long a shadow.

A lot of noise rock bands were stuffin' the blues in their sound back then - The Laughing Hyenas were the only ones who made it their own.

I saw them years ago in Lexington, Ky. They were AWESOME, sad to find out about Larissa..nobody can "scream" like John...such a unique band, I Loved Them! They are part of my music loving life !
