  • You know I think this is the first song I've heard, that references death in such a joyous way, with a happy melody. Usually death is sung about in such a sad way.

  • if you actually care and read all of this, then thank you.

i work my butt off 2 make it in the youtube biz, but its impossible 2 make it if noone

ever hears you, and its hard to get people to hear you when you have no

exposure....i dont have the money for amazing music videos or big youtube

advertisements....so all im left with is spam.

if you could take two seconds to give me a thumbs up just so people know i

exist.... you dont have to like me, just gimme a chance to be liked

  • This is one of the most horrifying and beautiful things that I've ever heard. Honestly, I do believe that he's religious, simply because he mentions it in most of his music, and apparently he's said that he is. But just because someone believes in God doesn't mean their some some stuck up ass hole. I believe in God, but that doesn't mean I shove it down people's throats. And he isn't singing anything to get laid. His lyrics are actually quite amazing if you listen to his stuff and pay attention.

  • Holy shit this singer will say anything to get laid

  • Religious bullshit, BUT nice song. Like it.

  • @jalle71002 Actually, this song really isn't religious at all. You may think so from that line "death will give us back to God," but that simply is part of the story he is telling in the song, not part of his beliefs, or beliefs that are being preached in the song. Dun worry :D

  • @jalle71002 Seriously? Your perspective was lost somewhere in the suburbs.

  • @toscathe Oh you, all I'm saying is that is dislike the religious background of the band and their music, BUT that I think they make really nice music, in which they are telling a nice story. Its just the religious part thats bothering me..

  • @jalle71002 I actually don't think that it is religious... What makes you think so? Because I'm an atheist, and I find "I'm happy just because I found out I am really no one" to be a really comforting thought... But I never linked any of this to god or whatnot...

  • @toscathe From some of their other songs,

"if you swear that there’s no truth and who cares

How come you say it like you’re right?

Why are you scared to dream of god

When it’s salvation that you want?"

  • @jalle71002 BUT I might be taking it out of context. I'm inclined to believe you, @toscathe

  • What a great song. One of my favorites

  • Looks like a huge magazine article. Fucking love this song

  • one of the best songs ive heard in a very long time

  • Reminds me of how Peter Gabriel use to make up introductory stories leading up to the song, (that first moment reminded me of Woody Allen actually).

Great lyrics. The song itself starts at 1:37

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • this is actually beautiful.

  • This song helps me get over my fear of flying.

  • This song is more interesting than half of Hollywood's bullshit movies these days.

  • Comment removed

  • well... nice animation after all

  • I SHALL ENSURE I HAVE A GUITAR WITH ME ON EVERY FLIGHT HENCEFORTH SO I CAN PLAY THIS SONG IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT OF A CRASH.

  • @IscPvy Hahaha honestly I would die a happy man if you played this during a plane crash!

  • Actually so happy :')

  • If my plane ever crashes, I'll know what to do.

  • its okay...

  • Hey guys lets just continue to over examine a music video, blow things out of proportion, and claim that people are racist when we have no proof for our claims. Yes, you have a point that there is still prejudice in this world, but you're pointing the finger with nothing to back your claims. For doing this you hurt your cause because it makes you seem childish, and irresponsible.

  • @UnfortunateDylan action and inaction both affect the world we live in. no one caleld the video racist, but prejudice exists and continues to affect people so why not talk about it? sociology examines the media, media studies is kindof dedicated to analysis of media... it affects our lives so imo it's cool and it's interesting to consider social impact of media and how the imagery, casting choices, etc coincide with the political realm.

  • v everyone. stfu and listen to the song.

  • Why are there so many dumb comments about a song that should just put a smile on your face? We're all going to a party!

  • This is a great song, utterly ruined by his crappy story at the start. Regardless of what he ends up saying, the way that he pauses every 2 seconds, makes a show of drinking his wankacchino and leans away to put it down is just unbearable. I had heard that he writes as well. If his writing is as cliched, girlish and unbelievably shallow as this little skit then he really ought to make sure not to try to put it out into the world. Good song though, shame I have to skip the first 1:35

  • What movie is that from?

  • This is Perfect

  • So avant garde....I think imma put on my Tom's and go play in the rain.

  • yim yames makes this song with his backup harmonies

  • 1:06

  • see that kid at 1:29? That's me.

  • who is that girl

  • @DeeVeePr0ducti0ns Evan Rachel Wood.

  • why are there no black people on this plane?

  • @dimransee you want to see black people die in a plane crash?

  • @rangers94ism i want people of colour get more roles and be rep'd...

  • @dimransee 'Colour' you must be British. There are plenty of movies/ TV Shows/ commercials with blacks in them. You just got to look in the right direction. I know that here in the States we have the BET channel and other channels that are almost exclusively black.

  • @rangers94ism i am british and i know there are. i'm not judging all of america. and the british have issues with representation, too. but just because you have BET, doesn't mean other things can't or shouldn't have full representation of everyone. the reason BET came about was because there was little/no rep of black people... and little has changed.

  • @dimransee Can't kill black people in media no more. We're immortal now.

  • @dimransee Because there's no need for there to be black people on the plane. You don't see any Indians or Chinese, arabs, latinos or southern European people either, and that's because the entire world doesn't have to be represented as the rancid 'melting pot' which in most cases it's not, since most people are big enough to not require every form of media to bow to them in servile, simpering and often unrealistic representations to stop them from mouthing off/reacting violently.

  • @SickOfBlogRot are you white? cos that sounds like what some privileged dumbass who already gets tons and tons of representation would say. stupid bigot.

  • @dimransee It doesn't matter what I am, my point is a valid one which you've done nothing to argue against, all you've done is imply that my colour makes me wrong on this issue. Not every plane full of people has to have a member of every race aboard to appease bleating little liberal cunts like you, and the same is true with a music video from a folk singer/band. Get over yourself you miserable, ignorant little arsehole.

  • @SickOfBlogRot it's not a valid point - you're saying that minorities don't have a right to complain about a lack of media representation, basically. and that's a common argument made by the person who has... well, TONS of representation. because they don't really get what it feels like.

    (cont in part 2)

  • @SickOfBlogRot and uh, okay, so all planes are just full of white people or a minority group, NEVER A MIX - yeah too far-fetched. the audience can't be expected to suspend their disbeliefe THAT much :O a plane full of a mix of races??? :O :O wtf??! :O

you're the ignorant one, YOU'RE ARGUING AGAINST REPRESENTATION OF ALL RACES. you're arguing in favour of fewer roles available to people of colour. my god... look at your life. look at your choices. you bigot.

  • @dimransee You are an outrage, despite your obvious stupidity there's no forgiveness for such tyrannical hypocrisy as you're showing. I'll tell you what, I was shocked to see below that you're from Britain, since the media here seems to represent the 3% black population as being nearly every other person in adverts and other media, it's blatant.

You accusing me of arguing against rights, no, I'm arguining against the sort of tyranical liberalism that forces people's hand in creative decisions.

  • @SickOfBlogRot first of all i'm not a fucking liberal, cunt.

second of all, creativity is not in jeapardy if it's forced to represent people of colour. being qhite shouldn't be integral to a a character's functioning. the issue of politics comes in because of the lack of opportunities in the real world for POC in media.

thirdly - if media wanted to represent the minority ratios of society, in the UK and in the US, both would have a HELL of a lot more POC on screen.

  • @dimransee Well, you act like a liberal and a cunt so what can I say?

I didn't say creativity was in jeapardy, that seems to be what you would like me to be saying, I'm saying that creative freedoms are compromised.

And as for that third point, get real, or actually take a look at modern life, rather than base your claims on your favourite little spectres from the past where white people were so mean and excluding, it isn't like that anymore and POC are overrepresented by far in media today.

  • @SickOfBlogRot okay it's obvious you're a bigot and really fucking dense. your pigheaded ignorance is actually upsetting.

  • @dimransee @dimransee So says you, but you would, so thanks for the review, but it means less than nothing to me or to anyone, since what I've been doing is trying to present an argument based on facts, while you'd rather hoot the typical 'power' insults (bigot, pigheaded etc) which somehow make you right, because what I say is 'wrong' according to the prevailing ignorance. So congrats to you in your magic fucking castle in the sky, well done.

  • @SickOfBlogRot you keep making arguments that i can easily turn around at throw back at you. dense.

  • @dimransee Can you really? Then I can't understand why you don't. Perhaps you chose to rise above all this...by slinging random insults at me. That, for me, would be the actions of the dunce, but I shouldn't make any assumptions about your intelligence, and regret doing so earlier, because afterall you might not be stupid, maybe just ignorant of facts and preferring to believe whatever you want in life. There's no harm in that.

  • @SickOfBlogRot you, too. you want to believe what you want to believe and you're willfully ignorant of the truth. you refuse to look at society with a critical eye.

  • @dimransee Alright, sure, I'm obviously pure evil, and I bet you have a good reason for not elaborating and preferring to just say this stuff without substantiating any of it.

What I'm not sure of, is why you chose to provoke all this with your snarky comment about a video which has cast only white folks, insisting that one of these people ought to lose this job based on their colour. what type of person does that? Maybe I'll try it on a rap video, ask why there are no white men to be seen.

  • @SickOfBlogRot they casting director already made sure that plenty of POC lost out on the job in favour of a white person. representation of POC is not discrimination against white people, it's evening out the playing field. you're mistaking the loss of PRIVILEGE with DISCRIMINATION. and trying to deflect and derail focus by focusing on another 'issue - rap videos. yes such discrimination against white people. weeping4u.... oh actually, no i'm just embarrassed4u :(

  • @dimransee You're confusing a numerical superiority with 'privilege' again. There's a very simple fact here: in the UK, only one in every 33 or so people 'ought' to be black in media, reflection population numbers, yielding further jobs and roles makes them far more likely, as individuals, to get jobs than their white peers. In the US, it would be more around one in 10. Here, someone has just decided that none of the black actors they auditioned (if indeed any showed) were right for the part.

  • @SickOfBlogRot SOURCES, PLEASE. :) i wanna know where you got these numbers.

first of all, send out casting calls for actors of all ethnicities and they'll come - so few roles for POC that they will come for anything they can get! so indeed, plenty would show if the casting calls don't have a nice big fat 'CAUCASIAN' slapped on them - next,

  • @SickOfBlogRot and my not elaborating (just stating 'you wanna believe what you wanna believe') ----> i was copying the style of your stupid, stupid comments which, as i said, i can just turn around and throw right back at you.

jfc you are intense. like really... i've never had a 'debate' (if you can even call it that LOL) with such a thicko. there's a real intensity in your idiocy and tbh it's actually impressive.

  • @dimransee And finally, I'm done with this shit. You are not worth bothering with.

  • @SickOfBlogRot it's ridic and dismissive to say out of all the poc wannabe actors, the white people just happen to be better! hm, prejudice couldn't possibly come into play, right?? :)

and lastly - i'm not confused. white people, here and in the US have majority, political and social power which means they are the ones with the

  • @SickOfBlogRot ...(cont) power to oppress. doesn't mean they have to but oh do they ever.

anyway, you're done with me, cool - i can't stand seeing the bullshit pop up in my inbox... every login anticipating more and more bullshit... living in fear of your bullshit is ruining my life, dude.

  • @dimransee The numbers are just the available government statistics and I accept them to be true, if your Zionist website says that the number is 50% or 90% or whatever, and tells you that all the white people in England are really just evil spirits then believe that if you want. As for the rest of it, I didn't say that they were 'better' because they're white, just better on the day, for whatever reason. You're showing yourself up to be quite paranoid with talk of oppression in modern times.

  • @SickOfBlogRot please pm me the source link. i'd be very interested in seeing the stats :)

i don't think all white people are evil spirits, i think that power corrupts and it's difficult for someone who has privilege to see the privilege because they live in a bubble but some do see it - for example, i'm pretty well off and i used to not empathise at all with people from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and now i recognize my privilege was blinding me. (Cont in part 2)

  • @SickOfBlogRot part 2 - and i never said that you said they were better for being white. i said that since the majority of casting directors seem to employ this excuse too often for it to be the case every time. in the end, prejudice plays a major role, whether they even realise it or not. obviously racism is a widespread phenomenon, which affects POC getting jobs - particularly in the media. if there's little/no POC rep then there's a problem. people need to adjust their views.

  • @SickOfBlogRot part 3 - you can be done with me if you want, but i'd reeeeaaaallllllyyyyy love to see your source link for those stats! gov website, you said --- hmm i'm interested to see it :) please be a dear and pm me :) :) :) :)

    :) :) :) :) :)

  • @dimransee You're just out of your fucking mind. But seriously, good luck in 'adjusting' people's views, not that you'll find many who are actually guilty of what you're accusing anymore, but I'm sure that the hardcore racist minority will welcome your wagging finger and pissy whining.

No, I won't pm you, you're either some sort of troll or a nutcase. Go away.

  • @SickOfBlogRot lmao you pulled those stats out your ass. embarrassed4u.

and pissy whining... yeah okay. not allowed to discuss inequality in society. us oppressed people should just sit down and shutup for fear of sounding whiney. it's just a matter of rights and equality but why should we care about that??

  • @dimransee Go be a crazy bastard somewhere else why don't you?

  • @SickOfBlogRot okay. still embarrassed4u but cool.

  • @dimransee Your arguements are adolescent and you arm yourself with the word 'bigot', and wild accusations, as though they make you right. There is a simple reason that 'I' get 'tons' of representation, and it's because in western culture white people far outnumber others. I've been on a plane where I only saw other white people before, does that offend you too? You're an absolute waste of time and you make me sick to know you exist, so please don't bark your childish nonsense at me again.

  • @SickOfBlogRot when people look back at 2012, you'll be lumped into the 'wtf was wrong with people in the olden days??' category and i'll be in the 'oh phew atleast they had some decent human beings who supported the oppressed (women, POC, gays lesbians transgendered, disabled, etc)'.

  • @dimransee I don't doubt that, but that's testament to the cataclysmic drop in intelligence that has become manifest in modern times (the quality of television, film, the standard and substance of modern music and so on). I'm sure they'll all look at the important work you've done today and thank you for freeing them from the terrible 'oppression' of my hideous observational facts which so upset you, but in this idilic future vision of yours, what will facts matter anyway, when bullshit reigns?

  • @dimransee not a diss to all white people --- some cool, intelligent and empathic white people actually get it. but plenty... do not. as evidenced in life.

  • @dimransee I never noticed that before. But now that I do, I enjoy this video so much more.

  • @dimransee It was probably a whites only plane...duh.

  • @dimransee Because they belong on the boats.

  • @dimransee TSA.

  • @dimransee they can't afford plane tickets, duh

  • @dimransee im confused, what does your comment means really ??????????

  • @Tompettylady601 why were no black ppl cast.

  • @dimransee thanks for answering.

  • @dimransee because they escaped before the crash.

  • @dimransee Killing off non-whites in the music video is racist, obviously ;)

  • @dimransee you can't see em cause they're in the very back

  • @dimransee Because there aren't any snakes...?

  • This song is actually...kind of depressing. lol

  • hey where we going? we are going to die. ok thets snuggle. ok. hey every body thets dance and say goodbye

  • His voice when he speaks reminds me of a male Kristen Stewart

  • @linds72591 That is fucking disgusting.

  • luv it :)

  • first heard this song five minutes before getting on a plan to Europe. My friends are the best.

  • I would totally put this song on if I ever find myself in a crashing airline. Given, my life doesn't end before the song. Not sure how long it takes a plane to fall to the ground x.x

  • I love this video, but right at the end at about 4:28 the woman can't find someone to hug!

  • JAM

  • i watch this video and i get so happy, and then i remember they all died...

  • that arduous magazine article looks very much like a picture!

  • i'm happy just because...i found i'm really no one

  • I've alwats wondered why the 'suddenly' sounds more distant

    in his intro-speech.

  • @RoyPortel because he is putting down a drink. :)

  • @RoyPortel My theory is that he turned away from the mic when he said it :P I'm not sure of the significance of that gesture though.

  • i'm happy just because

  • this is such a cool idea. fuck i love the concept behind this video. great great everything. i dont like bright eys too much personally but this is such a cool video

  • When I was on a plane recently I thought about this song and turned to the person next to me and asked, "We're not flying over an ocean, are we?"

  • @wickedsister101 lol ur taking a plane to somewhere and you have no clue whether you're flying over an ocean?! ~facepalm

  • one of my fav songs! Check out my cover if your a fan of bright eyes!

  • I don't want to sound gay or anything seeing as society assumes anyone who share their emotions out loud is automatically subject to the opinions of anyone who hears them which makes posting this intimidating, but this song made me laugh and cry at the same time. We all are terrified of death, weather you find comfort in religion or ignore it, its in you, but I take comfort in that we are all in this together. No matter who you are you are in the same situation as me and every one around you.

  • @ATOMICspewg I'm not terrified of death. It took me a while but through rigorous martial arts, exercise and study, I realized that I am a very specific aspect of the greater composition. No matter how strong my will, if my arms can't lift it, I can't lift it. If I can't live forever, I can't live forever. Some things you can't stop, or alter, and stressing about it just kills you faster. Everything has it's place; and death has a place in life. Death is just like a sleep, anyway.

  • your mom sent me hear!

  • Don't listen to the Yes Man!!!

  • ...I liked the song.. It made me happy but.. the ending.. I feel depressed now.

  • Is that the guy from get smart?

  • It's a birthday party!

  • who the heck is Jory Caron?

  • he didn't even play this when i saw him...

i'm too mad now to listen to him and his stupid accent

  • @noteshade I saw him at Coachella - only song he does from this album is Road to Joy - but it's an abbreviated set.

  • Evan Rachel Wood?

  • @asimaniac93 yep! *boing*

  • i sent myself here!

  • One time my friend asked me where we're going and I said, "We're going to a party. It's a birthday party. It's your birthday party. Happy birthday darling!" Needless to say, she didn't get it -.-

  • she is really reading sky mall, haha

  • Hm. I've seen this video many, many times, and I think I just figured out what it's about. If you don't like metaphorical analyses of music, then don't read this.

The plane represents life, and the destination heaven. However, I think the writer is atheist, or perhaps aggnostic, and believes that the destination is an illusion, and we are all doomed to crash. The song represents a hypothetical situation in which the people on the plane realize altogether what the "truth" is. (continued above)

  • @6ThreeSided9 The pilot apologizes for misleading them for so long, perhaps representing some sort of religious figure. Then the song as a whole focuses on the people deciding to enjoy their lives while it lasts, rather than wait for something that they have "realized" will never come. Many lines suggest actions of spontaneous, immediate gratification, which suggests this interpretation. Other lines refer to the influence of others who believe otherwise or the same but react differently. (cont.)

  • @6ThreeSided9 The line "Set fire to the preacher that is promising us hell / and in the ear of every anarchist who sleeps but doesn't dream, we must sing, we must sing, we must sing". The former suggests religion, and that the ideas of it should be done away with or perhaps just ignored, lest it induce fear in the lives of people who should just be living happily with their time left. The latter suggests that other atheists, who take a more militant approach, need to relax and enjoy life.

  • Great song, but picking Kermit the Frog for backing vocals is a strange choice.

  • Favorite song in the universe

"And then we splashed into the deep blue sea! Oh, it was a wonderful splash!"

  • He had me at "So there was this woman..."

  • @rickpaperscissors You made my day +1.

  • I keep replaying the beginning over and over.

  • man this is the best thing i've seen today, and i've seen a lot today

  • Crazy shit cause i too listened to this song on a plane, and it had a mechanical failure, thought i was dead :X

  • Is it weird that this song actually want me to on a plane ride?

  • Listened to this by accident on a plane while flying over the ocean today. Not recommended.

  • And then the show LOST started...

  • @Flingtheduck With the old guy she's sitting next to in the Lost cast.

  • great. im travelling at the end of next month. just great.

  • @beleevethelie shut the fuck up

  • so i am ur girl toy

  • @beleevethelie shut the fuck up

  • @beleevethelie ur a lost soul...

  • That chick is in my favorite movie- Across the Universe(:

  • This song should play every time there's an engine failure in planes.

They should show this video instead of the terrible movies they show in airplanes.

And they all died happily ever after.

    (:
