NOW THIS IS THE EXPLANATION to the public, like a regular tv commercial, that should have been presented everywhere--tea parties, sunday morning talking head shows, etc.--from the beginning. CENK AND THIS EXPLANATION would have flattened arguments against even the single payer option. these plain and simple truths were needed long ago even if we had to present it as dogmatically as the untruths were.
How high are medical costs going to go before they get brought down in The United States of America. Around 1/4 of your income every month goes to health care company's that don't cover everything, and the fact that this money is going to the top executives in these company's is worse that the rhetoric about how Socialism is taking over America !!!
Rather; everyone pay the 20-30 some bucks a month tax and have everyone insured. It is a model that works every day in better country's.
the government shouldnt have to provide health insurance to ANYONE cept civil workers health care is not a right. if u say health care is a right u are saying ur intitled to the LABOR of someone else which no is is.
insurance is a risk in itself the company is laying down capitial hoping u will cost less than what u pay which for the most part is true... preexisting condidtions make since u can force a company to loose money
a lil more oversight and a lil more capitialism is all we need
GodAthie: That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
The issue is not completely whether or not you're entitled to healthcare, but to how it is delivered and how much to pay.
"A little more capitalism"? Are you NUTS?
I'm in favour of a public option because at least the poor can be taken care of, and thus maybe have a way to become active members of society, rather than be crushed by medical bills.
If you leave to those who'll make money from you, they'll raise the prices and you'll be FUCKED.
GodAthie Why should I pay taxes to provide health-care for "civil workers" when I cannot even afford health-care for myself? If you really believe in more capitalism then surely you would agree that those profiting from destroying our resources and polluting our water, air and soil, leading to most illnesses, should pay for our health-care cost and quit outsourcing their production costs (social and environmental health) onto the public.
Minimum wage in Australia is double that in America, adjusted for currency, and Australia does not have the unemployment problem the US has.
Why? because the poorest have money to spend, and when the poorest have money to spend, and they spend it not on dirivitives, but on things like food and rent, stuff that goes back INTO the economy directly. THIS is why supply side economics does not work.
the minimum wage is nothing to raise a family no meant for a person to work off of the rest of their life just a steping stone that they work up on when u raise the price of minium wage you will notice that prices just go up while noones but the poors wages go up
the poor of this country had plenty of oportunity they had free schooling they had many scholarship programs they could of worked towards, but they made teh descion of not doing anything and becoming trash
Decision? Nobody makes that deliberate decision. A lot of people out there get STUCK, because the minimum wage is too low, and they get further into debt.
In practise, raising the minimum wage lifts prices only slightly, it cuts into profit margins, yes, but profit margins have been rising massively since the early 80s.
@ Godathie Obviously you don't really understand what I am writing. When you say "we are becoming too damn lazy to work for a little bit," the "we" must be you because it sure as hell don't define me. When I say they are "outsourcing production costs," you indicate you thought I meant outsourcing jobs. You need to study English more so you can keep up. I'm not your teacher; although you do need one. When you refer to people going to college and getting degrees; I suggest you do that.
In the "freakenomic" world, those who are fooled by all these gov't / media bullshits such as Health Care Reform, Global Warming, Swine Flu & vaccination, 2008 global financial tsunami, Wall Street bank bailout plan, Obama's "change" promises, CPI & unemployment numbers, gold price, etc..... are the same stupid people who have lost BIG money in their 401k retirement investment during 2008 financial tsunami and who will suffer the most during the Great Depression 2. ☆☆☆☆☆
Jesus help us. I mean that. Literally. We need a miracle on this issue. Right Now, as it goes into conference committee with the House bill, to create one that the President can actually sign & we can all be at least somewhat proud of. Mandate=Alex Jones may have been right about some things. No public option=COMPLETE INSANITY. I really believed in this President. Please let this all be because they know the bill that'll come out of committee will be fixed, & can be signed, a good beginning!
I don't completely trust Alex Jones - he is a bit of a psycho sometimes, but he is correct about this - and so, were it not for TYT vs. Alex Jones, they might almost make good allies.
The CBO CANNOT give accurate cost projections. In the 1960s the CBO projected that Medicare would cost $12 billion by 1990. Instead it cost $110 billion! Medicaid's Disproportionate Share Hospital program, created in 1987, was supposed to cost $1 billion by 1992. Instead it cost $17 billion in 1992! The dollar has lost over 98% of it's value since 1900 (thanks to the Fed inflating it to death) and the U.S. government does a terrible job at cost estimation. This healthcare bill is bad news.
This healthcare bill is going to blow a hole in the budget for our already bankrupt country, thanks to banker bailouts an war mongering. Congress is allowing the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to scam Americans with their flawed cost projections. Healthcare reform is really a bailout for the insurance companies. Insurance company stocks are at 52 year highs.
I work for Caterpillar and our corporate office just released a memo to employees about the senate healthcare bill. After reading the bill it was determined that our healthcare costs will go up 20% the first year alone, due to this proposed reform bill. My senator, Claire McCaskill has shut her constituants out. Her office has not been accepting phone calls for a week now. When do we stop this insanity?
jjmnky: Senator McCaskill's behavior is unacceptable. I think we may need to just kick just about all incumbents out of Congress. They're working for special interests, not for the American people.
Millions more die because there is a disconnect between patients and doctors -- thousands die from adverse drug reactions, medical errors, misinterpreted orders, and pharmaceutical companies that give us drugs to make us sicker. The government is paying over 60% of the cost of care already, and that has made our healthcare accountable to the government, not the patients.
America is governed by corporate thugs, no matter what u try to reform its always ends up in their favor. Because most of the congress is owned by these corporate thugs. Especially those who been in congress for more than six years, they all corporate hoes who will never vote for something that is in favor of the ppl who elected them.
Boston Town Meeting 1768- If taxes are to be raised from us by the parliament of Great Britian without our consent, and the men on whose opinions and decisions our properties, liberties, and lives in a great measure depend receive their support from the revenues arising from these taxes, we cannot, when we think of the depravity of mankind, avoid looking with horror on the danger to which we are exposed! *Now replace Great Britian with our own government and re-read.
The host here is wrong; it is not their fiduciary responsibility to make as much money as possible. They also have a fiduciary responsiblity, not to mention contractual obligations, to their customers. His slant here quite obviously reveals how the whole shebang is just the first step towards eliminating the private in favour of complete government takeover. Also, in the fable, sword of Damocles was a good thing, as it is the symbolism of keeping certain things out of the hands of government.
Howard Dean is Sarah Palin's DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCH and PUSSY! Palin is a SUPERIOR politician and statesman than Dean could ever be. She is also MORE MAN than he is for Dean wears the skirt in his family while his wife wears the pants!
Just reading your first sentence above convinced me that whatever you say is completely wrong and that I should think the opposite. You made it easy for me thanks! By the way, that's not really a sentence. When I said sentence above, I meant that sarcastically. But you probably can't understand what I just wrote can you? Your wpm typing must put your I.Q. to shame. wasting good comment space you are.... *Do that in your best yoda voice. In his language, that is a sentence. :)
It looks like Insurance Companies got everything in their favor which means that the public got screwed as usual and it also means Obama stab the public in the back, that is the same public who voted him into the office.
Looking all this from a distance I have to say that Cenk is right. American Citizens... you're being fucked in the ass by the corporations. Good Luck.
Some of us have known this for a long, long time. It's hard to do anything about when Americans have forgotten that democracy requires participation. You can't let democracy run itself. That's like hopping in a '57 chevy and expecting it to drive you to your house all by itself. It doesn't work. Finally though, economic troubles are waking a slumbering giant. Watch out world when she realizes what's going on.
WILL YOU GO TO HEAVEN? Here is a quick test, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Jesus said if you look at a person with lust(sexual thought), you commit adultery in the heart. If you have done these things, you are heading for Hell. That is not Gods will. God sent Jesus to take the punishment on the cross for our sins, so that if you repent(turn away from sin) and trust in Jesus as your lord and savior, God will forgive every sin you ever committed and grant you Heaven.
Well, we do have the best trauma care in the world. So if you plan on getting in a car accident (jk), this is a great place to be. I put myself in the drier as a child and had massive burns and major head trauma. I was given world class treatment. We have a lot of good here too. But a lot to rectify as well....
SEN. BARBARA BOXER (D), CALIFORNIA: I went back to the debates. I went back to read the Congressional Record from 1935, when the debate on Social Security occurred. It was pretty rough then. And this is a milestone moment. Since Teddy Roosevelt, the Congresses and presidents, Republican—he was a Republican—and Democratic had been trying to get Americans affordable health care. We are on the precipice. It is not the perfect bill. We all know that. But we need to pass this bill.
Teddy Roosevelt? He was at least honest. This bill is just more christmas for Corporations, just like it's been ever year for us. Obama says, "let them eat cake", and through half-tailed obvious "reforms" so the minions think they count. I said Bush was going to be the worst american president before he took office. He was. Obama is going to exceed him, in many ways, mostly bad. Obama is going to claim worst president ever by end of this term.
We help people who cant afford it. We make sure people dont lose their coverage if they get sick. All these are huge problems. Theyve been huge priorities for literally—literally decades.
@malibuhur12 This Bill cuts the national debt by a $ trillion. This bill cover 30 million more poeple. This bill gets rid of pre-existing contions. This is a good bill supported by everyone who matters Krugman,Clinton,Obama,Sanders,Boxer,Rockefeller,AMA,AARP,Weiner, and countless others.
@lmcdowall oh because all the powerful rich people want it should be great for us. No thanks, this will be a disaster. Look at Lasik eye surgery, no govt intervention into that market, costs have gone down and quality has gone up. No insurance involved. Why cant we make that work, where its peoples responsibility and choice?
@lmcdowall servants?! Are you kidding me, I volunteer, but they are not servants. They make over 150K a year thats not a servant. They tell you how you can live your life. Thats not a servant. Wake up, you are the servant!
Yeah, you're right. Let's just give up then. Geez. Good thing madison and jefferson were a little more tolerant. Otherwise, they might have just sold us to the highest bidder. All us whiners. *this is meant to be said sarcastically. Sorry, but come on... You can do better than this comment.
Touche', nevertheless, So did everyone from everywhere on the planet at the time. Likely Including their own neighbors. It's a shameful part of human history. They were imperfect, but shone in their time. Their words did end slavery as an above board business in the world. Of coarse, we may never set every slave free, but they made the world a better place. For all people and races. Regardless of the mistakes they made along the way.
The Emancipation Proclamation did not go nearly far enough to grant rights to us but we still took it...it was alot better than nothing...Over time civil rights improved in this country...Imagine if we told Abraham Lincoln : sorry this bill does not go far enough, kill this bill.... I can tell you one thing cotton would be a whole hell of alot cheaper today had that happened...Point being real change is a long fight take any wins you can get, the future will be brighter.
Yeah, but unlike this bill, that gave hope not smashed it, and that bill was at least moving in the right direction. I don't know if this bill even points the right way. I don't think it could be worse without the senate wearing their robber masks holding their bags of money from lobbyists. The only thing I see in this bill is "let them eat cake". I like cake. But prices for everything keep going up. The dollars about to collapse, and all they can do is shove money in their pants. *sad*
@nomadinexile This bill provides insurance to 30 million people and does so in a fiscally responsible way. It provides about $150 billion, $200 billion a year in subsidies to poor and sick people. I mean, its basically very good liberal policy classic, help people who are disadvantaged. I think you have to really kind of overthink this one to not consider this a major kind of progressive victory. We can make this bill better in the future if we pass it.
I'm sorry, I don't think I said that strongly enough. What obama is doing in office resembles treason more than leadership. This bill proves he is putting americans interest last. This is thievery and corruption at its very worst. The sooner we fix it the better. I just hope it can be done peacefully. The problem is of coarse, that the entire Legislative and executive branches are for sale. Like a girl in a window in Amsterdam. Or a T-shirt for that matter. You just have to pay for it.
@nomadinexile "I just hope it can be done peacefully." Are you threatening civil war ? Cause if you are then -clearly I'm talking to a extremist and wasting my breath. I live in a democracy not a banana republic.
I don't even own a bb gun. Seriously? You think a progressive in Texas is going to fire the second shot heard round the world? LOL. That's the funniest thing I have read all night. Thanks. Now as far as talking to an extremist.... If following the law of the land, and defending the constitution makes me an extremist, then sure. You can call me that. But Hamilton would call me a patriot, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I am taking their words first and foremost to heart.
Banana republic huh? So when we had a tea party (i'm not a tea party guy), in boston, were they going bananas? When they shot their fellow Europeans in the Skulls, was that banana republic? We are required by the Law of the Land, and its framework, to maintain a ready militia. The militia's are to defend us from the government, not mexico. The fathers were explicit. There is no room for error. Our country is diseased, the constitution and declaration of Independence is the only cure.
of the nation be diregarded and trrampled under foot; if all offers be bought and sold at a high and extravagant price...; and if, to support these shocking enormities and corruptions, the subjects in all quarters must be hard squeezed with the iron arms of oppression.
*For arguments sake, replace England and British both, with American Alexander Hamilton 1774-
A deep laid and desperate plan of imperial despotism has been laid, and partly executed, for the extinction of all civil liberty, The august and once revered fortress of *English freedom-the admirable work of ages-The *British constitution seems fast tottering into fatal and inevitable ruin.
I think having a public option or not is fairly trivial as compared to the magnitude of good the bill would do. Its about a $20 billion savings, which is a lot of money in the abstract, but relative to a $900 billion bill, it might make it 2 percent or 3 percent better. It might lower premiums by 1 percent or so, the CBO thinks. Its not worth quite the attention its gotten from the left, I dont think.
This bill provides insurance to 30 million people and does so in a fiscally responsible way. It provides about $150 billion, $200 billion a year in subsidies to poor and sick people. I mean, its basically very good liberal policy classic, help people who are disadvantaged. I think you have to really kind of overthink this one to not consider this a major kind of progressive, Victory.
Fiscally responsible? What bill are you reading? The only providing this does is for insurance companies. The surplus comes from the fact the taxes start right away. Most of the benefits that would come would take years to kick in. So what. It's an accounting trick. Just another lie. Like the promise of a later repaired bill. What hasn't he lied about besides getting high? (and that still didn't do squat, he gave a half tailed option to da's not to prosecute mmj farms.) whatever
My dad always not me not to bet. It's a suckers game. I know more than the average american, and I know more than obama if he isn't a flat out liar. CDO=care delivery organization. Look. My knowledge of acronyms of current debate has little to do, with my knowledge of it.
I don't claim to be an expert. But a lot of experts, do think, this load of a bill stinks. Don't act like that's not a valid opinion unless you aren't interested in honest discussion. Obama stinks, and I pushed people to vote for him. I though he could save our country. But no anchor here, just some crazy guy cutting holes in the hull. Dang shame.
@nomadinexile People are unrealistic..It took 400 years for my people to get their civil rights, bill after bill that was not strong enough but now we have our rights...Rome was not built in a day this is a good step in the right direction. Obama has to work with people who do not want all the same things WE want thats life. If this bill gets killed then fuck we will not get shit for at least 15 years for some reason progressives just do not understand that.....
Cenk is a tool. Cenk voted for G.H. Bush and Bob Dole. Cenk was against Bill Clinton, Cenk OPPOSSED health care reform in the 90's Cenk was a Republican untill after 2000. He is a turn coat fake. Johnny come lately. I've been a Democrat since I was 18 . Cenk needs to get with the program and support this bill or go back to the Republicans.
this bill is horrible. but by the time I reached 18 I realized they are both about the same and all pretty much worthless criminals hiding behind the veil of the military industrial complex and americas apathy. Ron paul and fiscal responsibility next election or the dollars gonna free fall so fast that L.A. is going to look like Harare sooner than later.
This bill is a gift to the insurance companies with a few token "reforms" so they don't have to wear masks while they rob us...
LOL ..you Americans are retarded ,all this fear over heath care. With my health problems I would be dead if I lived in the US. You would rather spend your tax money on proxy wars ,wars bulit on lies ....But take care of your people ..OH MY GOD THATS BAD....LAMO
Your ignorance shines through in your open use of derogatory terms of the weakest of our society. Have smart and brave of you. Do you feel good now? GOOD. Do you know how many americans supported the wars from the start? Too many yes, but by no mean a large marjority for Iraq at very least. I didn't support either personally. But no one listened to me. Now over half of america want the troops home. I don't understand the smaller half, but It wouldn't matter if I did. But you r a fool
Senators and the white house will be on TV this week and next to sell & defend themselves. They'll push their spin and lies, claim theyre saints, the bill is salvation, and anyone who disagrees is stupid and evil.
They'll repeat their promotion for expanded government. And they'll claim that expanded gov will have indirect consequences such as job recovery, a strong economy, the end to poverty, sickness and death, and the beginning of world peace.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
absolutely, if obama and his nazi administration keep up this campaign against god and freedom, patriots all across this nation will rise up just like our founding fathers did. howard dean and cenk should just move to north korea, or nazi germany, you know those wonderful places where the government runs concentration...i mean health camps
I was in the Army and there is no way in hell civilians can match the military technology of the US government.
Kinda hard to fight a meaningful resistance when you got helicopters with heat sensors that can detect you no matter where you hide and can fire missiles that will blow up your house.
I see your government still has you living in fear , fear gets the government the support they want to do whatever they want . Has anyone invaded The US yet mabe if you got out of their countrys they wouldnt bother you.
Yeah, the army is going to come shoot everyone? If one in 300 americans got a rifle, that's a million guerillas right there.
Your bad to the bone US Army can't defeat 100 Barefoot Al Queda troops left in afganistan living in the mountains off goats milk and kalashnikovs. What are you talking about?
How many lives, bombs, and billions of dollars did it take to keep those 100 al queda "under control" which would really be a cruel joke if you said that to afgans. What would they had done if we hadn't gone there? Squat as well! And we wouldn't have had to bomb them into the stone age and bankrupt our nation. And don't give me that 9-11 b.s. Our Cia did that to us
. So we'd have a reason to go get afgan heroin. We become a nation of pimps and dealers, how sad. Looks like al queda will, if you call 100 goat herders a guerilla army. Have you heard of the art of war? Do you read? Do you really think we "spared" afganistan? Do you really think the generals would just loose it and wipe out new york and houston, while leaving kabul standing? again, go read something please. At least make it a challenge.
Shadowit001 You have no idea what a war of attrition is . It costs nothing for an Afagani to agitate the US for years to come. 4 or 5 Afgani's shoot a couple morters take a few pot shots and run away end result A platoon of men are sent out , aerial surveilance , air strike. These few guys just cost you millions. Your Government est. it costs 1 million dollars to keep 1 soldier in Afaganistan for a year. Do the math!
You can come up with as many equations as you want but the fact remains, the civilians can not defeat the US government no matter what type of war it becomes. There will be no revolution, just a few dumb rednecks being a minor annoyance.
LOL ..Just like Vietnam your super power did great there. Russia 9 years in Afganistan ,The USA 9years in Afganistan .....Nothing has changed there in almost 20 years . So keep spending on wars, China Loves buying up your debt ....Soon to be United States of China .
I never knew Americans had a life time CAP for medical care. In Canada we have no such thing. If you have cancer you never have to keep an eye on some sort of tab. Last summer a Canadian gave birth in the USA - 7 days in ICU. The American hospital accidentally sent her the bill rather than to our govt. The bill she saw? $170,000. I mean WTF!??? You guys will eat half that limit if you had a stroke. No bloody wonder Canadians live longer than Americans. Cap?? INSANE!!
Well I'm not quite that negative. I see people as generally good and education as a bane to poverty and key to our future.
I just think the climate created by politics in the U.S. is FUBAR. The system is completely corroupt and money run and basically irreparable at this point.
I find this to be true. Even when proof is blatant, people still choose to believe a different way. When nothing else can be said, the response is long the lines of "oh well, you can't convince me otherwise."
All you need is to under educate and keep them too busy or make too expensive to learn. Without adequate education that develops logical reasoning to explore new ideas and think for themselves, people tend to listen to someone who they can identify with, someone who shares viewpoints and knowledge that the masses already can relate to, and who's ideas are in their own realm of understanding.
All you need is a good authority figure and stupid people. Don't believe me? Google Milgram Experiment
But, then again, what are you going to do about it? Just pay into the system. If the insurance denies you the claim, crawl to ben casey like you crawled to barrack obama for "change."
The important question: is Obama genuinely interested in helping the less fortunate people of America to get health-care? The answer appears to be no, he is not.
I'm starting to think nothing is going to change with this until people start wheeling guillotines and stocks up and down wall street and washington. The just keep saying "let them eat cake" This robbery of america can only go on so long. We are already broke for generations. How much more will we take? Too much, I fear most of all.
My thought is 90% or more of the 30 million without health insurance will just pay the 75 dollar penalty instead of the cost of the plans that would be available to them. If not in the first year or two, as soon as insurance companies start using their monopoly to ratchet the annual fees. Watch for annual sign up windows with confusing language that gets the poor to sign up and then hold them liable via contract. It will take trickery and falsehood to get them to not just pay the $75 penalty.
This is what is going to happen. We are all going to be forced to buy insurance or go to jail.... Meanwhile they are going to change over to legalize hemp medicine that they can overcharge and tax the sale, Since it can actually help you from getting sick, the insurance companies will not have the payouts, and it will essentially make a huge tax on the GNP while bypassing the most of the medical system.
You cannot really fix convolution with a convolution solution. This is essentially class slavery verging on class warfare. Where are we going to go from there. What we got is a system that is nudging further and further toward total class slavery. We are just about at the point where the storm troopers come in put us in prisons and give us profitable work for the owners. i don't think i am over stating the case here. We are slave soldiers, slave workers, and slave prisoners. Screw this.
Holly shit, I feel like a thief came into my house to rob me,I'm piss, First Big Pharma gets their bill, then banks, wall street and now Insurances , I think they are going to have American pen raised sheep for Christmas dinner , The Democrats and Obama tied our hoofs and put us in the butcher block, while this happens,Obama is spying on the citizenry and make them bleed in two wars. Crazy shit I miss Bushe's "good old days",
What is needed is a grass roots movement or more realistically a hemp roots movement. Anyone with a chronic condition should grow their own hemp, in spite of the possibility the storm trooper will break in and burn down your house and lock you up. Upper class consider lower class people in the same way cruel slavers consider slaves. Take back you lives and minds folks.
As before, as now, i doubt that i will ever have insurance for healthcare in my life time. They don't even help with workman's comp if you get hurt on the job. This is a total confidence killer. It is like swearing off doing business with your worst enemy. It's easy and it's better for you over all. It's like swearing off addictive drugs. i'm not going to live forever so f**k the rich and their cut of the GNP. It's just class bolstering and taking slaves in the class war.
i know this sounds "conspiratorial", but you have to ask who is the "king pin" who is running this show. It has to be someone that is so wealthy that they push the entire government around, Just like with 911. It is apprarently an a plan to take a large cut of the GNP. So they can just take the military and run world wid raids on natural resources while creating stupid misplaced hate. Congress people are only front men. Materfully orchestrated yet thoroughly diabolical.
Obama = bush, the worst thing about obama is,he pretends to be an angel.atleast bush clearly showed that he was a criminal and ppl woke up.socialism = favouritism for elite corporates, capitalism = freedom to trade without force.
@sshapewa I agree apart from the socialism bit. I live in a socialist country (Sweden, social democratic), and I can't think of one single industry that Sweden benefits more politically than the US.
caiptalism is free trade.the ability to exchange goods freely without government elite controlling your trade.capitalism advocates private ownership of propert, socialism makes property government's which is controlled by corporations
well the fucking government made it possible for these huge ass failing corporations to get fat checks when they receicved SOCIALIST BAILOUTS.look at small businesses, they dont overpay the managers or they will fail
Wait, there is a contradiction there. The bailout where not socialist. This is not a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended. In fact, if it is one thing it is anti-socialistic because , they are confiscating money from productive members and giving it to the one less productive, the one who work the less.
In fact, it is the same form of capitalist that the hardcore socialist hate.
im just showing how big government fucks up.socialism, fascism, communism are all BIG FORMS OF GOVERNMENT.the bailouts were given out because the government had too much economic powers deciding who to get money.
In a pedantic way, I should point out Danmark with a somewhat socialist but small form government. Or New-Zealand, which put in place strong social programs in their small government.
I should point, also, that a too small government will fail because he does not have enough power to correct something, but a too big government will also fail because he will abuse.
Another problem: failure should be an option. Right now, it is not even a consideration.
But a real government needs a balance of the two. Fundamentalist communism is bad, as demonstrated by the USSR last century, but fundamentalist capitalism is just as bad, as demonstrated by the US in the past decade.

we already do that last bit its called a law sue?
and they outsource cause we are becoming too damn lazy to work for a little bit and the minimum wage is hurting our competivness in the world
GodAthie 2 years ago
The minimum wage is hurting nothing.
THIS is why supply side economics does not work.
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago
@dangerouslytalented
the minimum wage is nothing to raise a family no meant for a person to work off of the rest of their life just a steping stone that they work up on when u raise the price of minium wage you will notice that prices just go up while noones but the poors wages go up
the poor of this country had plenty of oportunity they had free schooling they had many scholarship programs they could of worked towards, but they made teh descion of not doing anything and becoming trash
GodAthie 2 years ago
Decision? Nobody makes that deliberate decision. A lot of people out there get STUCK, because the minimum wage is too low, and they get further into debt.
In practise, raising the minimum wage lifts prices only slightly, it cuts into profit margins, yes, but profit margins have been rising massively since the early 80s.
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago
@dangerouslytalented
and whos fault is it that their stuck? who didnt' work hard early to get a nice degree or any kind of training?
pregnacy, sickness, and starting out in povery all struggles and they have to deal with them or become STUCK
minimum wage is not anything to make a perminent living off of only something for students and mothers at home to work for
if raising the minimum wage is so awsome y not raise it to 50 dollar or 100?
GodAthie 2 years ago
@ Godathie Obviously you don't really understand what I am writing. When you say "we are becoming too damn lazy to work for a little bit," the "we" must be you because it sure as hell don't define me. When I say they are "outsourcing production costs," you indicate you thought I meant outsourcing jobs. You need to study English more so you can keep up. I'm not your teacher; although you do need one. When you refer to people going to college and getting degrees; I suggest you do that.

This healthcare bill is bad news.
tajlee1 2 years ago
Those dollars were 1960s dollars not 1990 dollars. Inflation hit hard during the 70s.
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago
This healthcare bill is going to blow a hole in the budget for our already bankrupt country, thanks to banker bailouts an war mongering. Congress is allowing the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to scam Americans with their flawed cost projections. Healthcare reform is really a bailout for the insurance companies. Insurance company stocks are at 52 year highs.
tajlee1 2 years ago
I work for Caterpillar and our corporate office just released a memo to employees about the senate healthcare bill. After reading the bill it was determined that our healthcare costs will go up 20% the first year alone, due to this proposed reform bill. My senator, Claire McCaskill has shut her constituants out. Her office has not been accepting phone calls for a week now. When do we stop this insanity?
jjmnky 2 years ago
jjmnky: Senator McCaskill's behavior is unacceptable. I think we may need to just kick just about all incumbents out of Congress. They're working for special interests, not for the American people.

45,000 Americans die every year because they don't have Health Insurance coverage, google it.
KamikazeKoscki 2 years ago
Millions more die because there is a disconnect between patients and doctors -- thousands die from adverse drug reactions, medical errors, misinterpreted orders, and pharmaceutical companies that give us drugs to make us sicker. The government is paying over 60% of the cost of care already, and that has made our healthcare accountable to the government, not the patients.

SEN. BARBARA BOXER (D), CALIFORNIA: I went back to the debates. I went back to read the Congressional Record from 1935, when the debate on Social Security occurred. It was pretty rough then. We can make this bill better in the future if we pass it.
lmcdowall 2 years ago
I'm sorry, I don't think I said that strongly enough. What obama is doing in office resembles treason more than leadership. This bill proves he is putting americans interest last.

Why can't we just have a government that's looking out for us
LoryLandskipper 2 years ago 2
@LoryLandskipper
Because they'll get killed. The guys we have in charge are bunch of corrupt pigs.
Trickishismael360 2 years ago
Simply legislate their ass into submission.

Cenk and Dean makes so much sense.
This SHOULD be a no brainer.
Right Wing Radio brainwashes the masses .
guddaysunshine 2 years ago
Nobody brain washes the masses.
Its about what YOU want to believe.
Both personally(the small) and the populous(the large); its about what they want to believe.
cpufightclub 2 years ago
I find this to be true. Even when proof is blatant, people still choose to believe a different way. When nothing else can be said, the response is long the lines of "oh well, you can't convince me otherwise."
LoryLandskipper 2 years ago
All you need is to under educate and keep them too busy or make too expensive to learn. Without adequate education that develops logical reasoning to explore new ideas and think for themselves, people tend to listen to someone who they can identify with, someone who shares viewpoints and knowledge that the masses already can relate to, and who's ideas are in their own realm of understanding.
All you need is a good authority figure and stupid people. Don't believe me? Google Milgram Experiment
MLadyAzzera 2 years ago
Sure, it's wrong. Ok.
But, then again, what are you going to do about it? Just pay into the system. If the insurance denies you the claim, crawl to ben casey like you crawled to barrack obama for "change."
cpufightclub 2 years ago
Sword of damocles? Fancy relate Cenk. you musta taken mythology in College.
Chnamanjx 2 years ago
it's less mythology and more legend. There was no divine intervention or anything in the tale, just a king making a point.
LoryLandskipper 2 years ago
It apply well, but its too fancy to you, college drop-out, or is it that you went to christian 'university' ?
moestietabarnak 2 years ago
Insurance companies are a for profit business.
No reason to blame them for trying to make money.
cpufightclub 2 years ago
They're making money off of sanctioned monopolies and what will be a state mandated subsidy. That's why it's wrong.
Chnamanjx 2 years ago 3
The important question: is Obama genuinely interested in helping the less fortunate people of America to get health-care? The answer appears to be no, he is not.

I'm starting to think nothing is going to change with this until people start wheeling guillotines and stocks up and down wall street and washington. The just keep saying "let them eat cake" This robbery of america can only go on so long. We are already broke for generations. How much more will we take? Too much, I fear most of all.

Public option - another great plan for the govt to take a sh#t load of money and use it to pay the fat cats.
Turbo291 2 years ago
Again, Dean for president, 2012.
aaronsande 2 years ago 2
My thought is 90% or more of the 30 million without health insurance will just pay the 75 dollar penalty instead of the cost of the plans that would be available to them. If not in the first year or two, as soon as insurance companies start using their monopoly to ratchet the annual fees. Watch for annual sign up windows with confusing language that gets the poor to sign up and then hold them liable via contract. It will take trickery and falsehood to get them to not just pay the $75 penalty.

Can't wait to hear the new campaign promises from the runners for the 2012 elections..
Are we going to believe anything they tell us, or is it game over for their propaganga?
In other words.. Have we grown up yet?
In the words of M.J.... all I wanna say is they don't really care about us..
minteko 2 years ago
This is what is going to happen. We are all going to be forced to buy insurance or go to jail.... Meanwhile they are going to change over to legalize hemp medicine that they can overcharge and tax the sale, Since it can actually help you from getting sick, the insurance companies will not have the payouts, and it will essentially make a huge tax on the GNP while bypassing the most of the medical system.
hypnofan35 2 years ago
You cannot really fix convolution with a convolution solution. This is essentially class slavery verging on class warfare. Where are we going to go from there. What we got is a system that is nudging further and further toward total class slavery. We are just about at the point where the storm troopers come in put us in prisons and give us profitable work for the owners. i don't think i am over stating the case here. We are slave soldiers, slave workers, and slave prisoners. Screw this.

SLAVE REVOLT!!!
djzacmaniac 2 years ago
Holly shit, I feel like a thief came into my house to rob me,I'm piss, First Big Pharma gets their bill, then banks, wall street and now Insurances , I think they are going to have American pen raised sheep for Christmas dinner , The Democrats and Obama tied our hoofs and put us in the butcher block, while this happens,Obama is spying on the citizenry and make them bleed in two wars. Crazy shit I miss Bushe's "good old days",
Kioti077 2 years ago
What is needed is a grass roots movement or more realistically a hemp roots movement. Anyone with a chronic condition should grow their own hemp, in spite of the possibility the storm trooper will break in and burn down your house and lock you up. Upper class consider lower class people in the same way cruel slavers consider slaves. Take back you lives and minds folks.
hypnofan35 2 years ago
As before, as now, i doubt that i will ever have insurance for healthcare in my life time. They don't even help with workman's comp if you get hurt on the job. This is a total confidence killer. It is like swearing off doing business with your worst enemy. It's easy and it's better for you over all. It's like swearing off addictive drugs. i'm not going to live forever so f**k the rich and their cut of the GNP. It's just class bolstering and taking slaves in the class war.
hypnofan35 2 years ago
i know this sounds "conspiratorial", but you have to ask who is the "king pin" who is running this show.

Obama is half-white.
djzacmaniac 2 years ago
That changes nothing.

Obama = bush, the worst thing about obama is,he pretends to be an angel.atleast bush clearly showed that he was a criminal and ppl woke up.socialism = favouritism for elite corporates, capitalism = freedom to trade without force.
sshapewa 2 years ago
@sshapewa I agree apart from the socialism bit. I live in a socialist country (Sweden, social democratic), and I can't think of one single industry that Sweden benefits more politically than the US.
Myschly 2 years ago
Fascism would actually be favoritism for elite corporate executives. Socialism is government controlled industry.
djzacmaniac 2 years ago
fascism and socialism = government controlled by a group of oligarchs(corporation).only capitalism works
sshapewa 2 years ago
capitalism is socialism and goverment controll
TenRoc382k9 2 years ago
caiptalism is free trade.the ability to exchange goods freely without government elite controlling your trade.capitalism advocates private ownership of propert, socialism makes property government's which is controlled by corporations
sshapewa 2 years ago
wrong they get over paid for fucking everything up while the ppl pays...corporations made caiptalism so there for its the same thing
TenRoc382k9 2 years ago
well the fucking government made it possible for these huge ass failing corporations to get fat checks when they receicved SOCIALIST BAILOUTS.look at small businesses, they dont overpay the managers or they will fail
sshapewa 2 years ago
Wait, there is a contradiction there. The bailout where not socialist. This is not a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with a method of compensation based on the amount of labor expended. In fact, if it is one thing it is anti-socialistic because , they are confiscating money from productive members and giving it to the one less productive, the one who work the less.
In fact, it is the same form of capitalist that the hardcore socialist hate.
therrydicule 2 years ago
im just showing how big government fucks up.socialism, fascism, communism are all BIG FORMS OF GOVERNMENT.the bailouts were given out because the government had too much economic powers deciding who to get money.
sshapewa 2 years ago
In a pedantic way, I should point out Danmark with a somewhat socialist but small form government. Or New-Zealand, which put in place strong social programs in their small government.
I should point, also, that a too small government will fail because he does not have enough power to correct something, but a too big government will also fail because he will abuse.
Another problem: failure should be an option. Right now, it is not even a consideration.
therrydicule 2 years ago
the GOP got the fat checks for the socialist right wing wall street the only socialist party is the gop and fox news is there attack dogs
TenRoc382k9 2 years ago
But a real government needs a balance of the two. Fundamentalist communism is bad, as demonstrated by the USSR last century, but fundamentalist capitalism is just as bad, as demonstrated by the US in the past decade.
Even Alan Greenspan said as much.
