Is english his first language? I started his book and on the first pages it says "Unfortunately, there were no eyewitnesses; none of us WAS around". This sounds like a mistake a non-english native speaker would make and I am curious as to whether my hypothesis is correct.

I had to read this book for AP biology and it makes total sense.

There is much more evidence for the life, death, and ressurection of Jesus than there is fossil evidence for evolution, yet many scientists prefer to ignore recent history (2000 years ago) to focus on fossils. I think people hide behind science so they can justify a non belief in God. If you can convince yourself that we are random chances, then we owe nothing to God, and can do whatever we want.

I watched this originally on the UCTV channel... so glad I found it on YouTube. Shubin's passion for science is deeply inspiring, as much as the discovery itself. I must say this one of my favorite scientist interviews. Will definitely buy the book.
