  • Guys all respect intended, but every time I see u guys u r wearing bench shirts. where is the raw benching? bench shirts do too much work FOR u . The shirt does have merit with limited use. But u guys seem to rely on it. Even my raw bench is 755lbs. Sure i could put a shirt on and do 900lbs, but then its not ME doing the bench, its the SHIRT. Ill never understand shirt guys.

  • I honestly like powerlifting, but i just hate the form, i understand that this isnt easy at all, but y dont they do the bench the traditional way, touch ur damn chest

  • In competition they do, because they HAVE to. Partial reps are used to overcome sticking points wherever you might be weak in the range of motion. Or, partial reps at the strongest point in the range (shy of lockout) to build up tendon strength. Graned, some people avoid a full rep out of laziness, but they know who they are inside so I don't worry about them.

  • do you mean why dont they touch their chest as in bring the bar all the way down or why dont they touch their chest instead of their pelvis? thats the way powerlifters bench it helps them to get more weight. why stress yourself to use better form while sacraficing weight when thats what the whole sport is about? this isnt bodybuilding...this is POWER LIFTING

  • why are they using a wide grip like this? closer grip most people are stronger (look at ryan kennelly)

  • close grip works your triceps more then just your chest... it is nearly impossible for close grip to be easier because your triceps are smaller muscles then your pecs

  • ah, I see... its still the same thing, I tryed it this far apart yesterday during my chest and tri workout and like this it is mainly chest they are working, very little (more then normal) tricep

  • yeah, but when you grip to wide you lose strenght, and when you use a little closer grip you activate all muscles stronger

  • depends, some people work only with there arms farther apart to get build up that stregth, and other like to work all at the same time... everyones muscles are different, everyones workouts are different. me personally, like a medium grip, so that I work my chest allot, and only use a little bit of tricep, and then consentraite on them later in my workout

  • me normally too, but i use a bit closer grip for poerlifting workouts, so i use my chest, tri's and delts, not primary the chest

  • nice, I think I may do a close grip bench on monday when I do my chest and tri... after I do my normal benching...

  • because they want to shorten the distance between the touch and locked arms

    when they are doing non shirt workout hey are using a little closer grip

    ryan does the same thing :)
