This song came out (or at least I discovered it) just as I was embarking on the disintegration of a long-term relationship that I really thought would last. This song was very painful to listen to because it was so relevant to my situation (as most sad songs are).
he has a way of touching upon very raw emotion that is so very personal and unique to each owns situation, yet at the very same time so global and similar and relatable by a wide group of people (if not EVERYONE)
I was blown away by his talent as a song writer the very first time I heard him and still even years later I find myself coming back to him regularly.
I love this song. The part where he talks about meeting her again and pretend that they never knew "I'll say you remind me of a girl I knew so long ago but now she's gone gone gone" shew that's church right there!
this song fit into the movie-the other side of the tracks-so great, was like it was wrote for the movie, also john ralston must of had some really bad break up's with girl's,most of his songs are about failed love's
talked to him after a concert in portland oregon, he stood out talked to me and a buddy for about an hour in the freezing ass cold one of the nicest guys ever
its been a little over a month since we have talked. about a year since we met. i saw you yesterday. we were like strangers just like the day we met. but there was still so much tension between us. i wanted to kiss you so badly and never let you go. but you have moved on to someone worth a chance... good luck on finding your dreams. maybe we will cross again someday...
my balls couldve directed this video better, such a good song ruined by a shitty ass video. and no one said this was easy is a much better song some plz post a studio version of that song.
@WKolodzieski he has a new record called shadows of the summertime, and he's trying to figure out how to distribute it/find a new home so to speak since he's no longer with vagrant. he also has a new band called invisible music.
This song is incredible. Every verse is as moving as the last. I'm pretty sure it will forever be a favorite of mine. John Ralston is such a talented song writer.
Hey Guys check out my band!! Were called Notte Bella!! Look up Notte Bella Don't Look Away. give us your comments and thoughts!!! If your interested we are playing with Story of the Year on saturday!
this song is defenitely perfection, at least from a songwriting perspective. The emotions Joh nRalston captures through his words are.. indescribable by any except himself.
i can't get enough of this song, it's so realistic....it just hurts emotionally bc it just makes you think about all the crap that you've been through and how you want to change it but dont at the same time
I love this song. So true. Memories can be so bittersweet, you long and yearn for them to 'be' again, but at the same time all you can do is wish they would disapear. He really captures this element of love well.
I've written songs for years but only recently have I started really working on the lyrics. Sometimes competing with major stuff makes me never want anyone to hear my songs, but I've uploaded one so listen if you want and see what you think.
saw ralston open for dashbaord on the 2nd in Columbus, he was amazing! augustana also opened, but they weren't as good. Anyway, John Ralston is amazing!
i don't understand why this song is tagged dashboard and bright eyes etc...bright eyes is cool (besides the point but o well) but dashboard is just gross
it sucks that John Ralston is SO UNDERRATED. He is much better than other "successful" artists and even better than other Vagrant artists that receive more support and marketing. I hope Vagrant realize what they are losing.
I have had the opportunity to see him in concert three times now and also have had the opportunity to talk to him a couple of times. John is an amazing artist and an incredibly humble man.
i saw him play this song with dashboard like 3 months ago.. i saw this video on fuse and it sounded so familir to me, then it all came together. i love this song!

The promise never harvested in fallow fields shall lie.
In a shallow grave of stubble field and half-remembered lies.
A burning heart deceived me and you really put me on,
But now you’re gone, gone, gone
That is just such fucking killer wordplay. so very sick
Used to pride myself on living a life without any regrets,
But now that’s -------->------>------>

wow! this track is beautiful. i like the way how it was written, very poetic. this is my favorite line:
