  • Now i know why i am born '83 :)

  • i was there...awesome day of music. The scorps were the highlight of the US festival.

  • Spandex is a privialage, not a right!

  • That solo is bad ass!

  • 80's Defined = spandex and an overload of make-up

  • i was there that day...best band ever!!!!! they blew van halen off the stage that night......what ever happen to the orignal bass player for scorpions

  • and I still say the Scorps blow ac/dc away....

  • @nautracer12 agree 100%

  • @nautracer12 ac/dc songs are very similar to me. i still like them but scorpions songs are a little more diverse

  • Best Euro metal band ever...other than Europe :-)

  • I Was There! They Rocked

  • first time I heard them...that 1983 fest was incredible: u2, ALL THE La scene (Berlin, etc.) and soooo many classics

  • Vid has poor sound , but gotta give it to 'em. One of the best live bands ever.

  • @perru4ever61 this performance is on the world wide live album

  • Comment removed

  • @bigblockelectra This was recorded about six months before Rock You Like a Hurricane and was before the World Wide Live tour. Nonetheless it is a great performance. The recording of The Zoo was done in Paris France.

  • @filbertflange the zoo on the world wide live cd was in CA i'm pretty sure, klaus even talks to the crowd something about "we like to play in california--you people really know how to party"

  • @bigblockelectra This video was taken from a telecast of the US Festival, which took place in San Bernadino CA on the Memorial Day weekend in May 1983, The Scorpions played on that Sunday night May 25 1983. After digging out my World Wide Live cd, and reading the liner notes, I found that The Zoo was recorded at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa Ca on April 28, 1984. Klaus says "Costa Mesa, you really know how to party!!!" right before they start playing.

  • in that time i was in my father balls :)

  • @03coi m2:)

  • Powerful song.

  • best scorpions song best scorpions album was there

  • really bad sound quality but I do love the scorpions.

  • why cant bands play in front of big crowds anymore?

  • @bigblockelectra The talent pales in comparison to the bands that came out of the late 60s and 70s.

  • @magick1969 there are also many more genres of music now to suit every taste

  • These guys are older than I am (if that's possible!)-and they're STILL rocking!! Go Scorps!

  • Awesome 5:31

  • how come they did'nt get the big crowd?

  • @sargentD808 They still do ,but not in the states all that much anymore. Europe has a lot of these big festivals , like Download(Donington) or Wacken Open Air.

  • a to skubancy ;p nie dowiary ze koncza kariere :(

  • 15 Justin Bieber's fans couldn't catch the thrill on streets we call the zoo.

  • scorpions, they rolled the fest. . . though they didn't do anything from Lovedrive, I pouted at the time, No One Like You was awesome... it was all good. Ozzy was a trip. VH played 4ever it seemed, of course by then I was near passing out from dehydration. sure they had the water cannons earlier, but by night no water to be had, & they said only 90 degrees that day, it was more like 115!

  • I love this song.

  • We need more cowbell!!

  • Yet another awsome video! WTG Scorps!

  • Such a great band!

  • This is Rock In Rio (1985)

  • omg my brother went to that i was only 13 t the time...lol

  • que regrecen estos festivaleeeeeeeeesss, un lujo, cuando en Chile.....

  • Scorpions stole the show on this evening. all you heard out of anybody's mouth that was at Day 2 of the US Festival was Scorpions this, Scorpions that, Scorpions, Scorpions, Scorpions, Scorpions. It was their coming out party, the night they announced to everybody in the U.S.A. that they were a rock n roll heavyweight.

  • TRIUMPH was Baddass

  • I WAS THERE !!! 16yrs old. drove down from VEGAS w/ my 18 yr old sister. TEENAGE ROADTRIP. Scorps are on thier LAST tour, now

  • scorpions were probably the best overall. played really awesome and still had that party attitude,

  • Love these guys! My husband was fortunate enough to get to see them in England where he grew up. Says they r the best he has ever heard and seen!! We were teens in the '80's , best years ever!!

  • @rdzplace is right, I was there too, and the Scorps were the best! David Lee Roth was too stoned.

  • the best arena rock band ever and still rockin!!!

  • Love the scorps but Triumph was the best band. They killed. Everyone else underachieved. VH were horrible.....

  • notice mathias jabs is the only one whos sound stand out the lead guitarist he was reallly underrated

  • fuck yeah!

  • WOW,So fuckin cool 2 see that,Scorps were the band and Klaus voice was wicked,I believe he was havn node probs jst prior to this and Don Dokken did some studio work 4 him on Blackout,You wouldnt know it.Brilliant stuff

  • I was at this concert the Scorpions owned the night

  • @rdzplace You lucky fucking prick! JK!.........wait....... no i'm not, you lucky fucking prick!

  • I was at this cocert the Scorpions owned the night

  • I was here with all 500,00 of you....

  • I'm glad I got to see these guys last year. One of the best arena bands in the world. Part of a dying breed. :-(

  • those guys r pretty cool Beavis - Yeah, huh huh ! Right !

  • I WENT TO THIS I WAS 17TEEN, LIVEING IN HESPERIA !!! A LOT OF HOOOT GUYS THAT NIGHT, HAHA!

  • @hazor777 They are on their last tour. Not yet finished. They have not set a last concert date yet, but rumor is it will be sometime in 2012.

  • @gspinkwrld1 : yea, I know, but the "end", is the "end"....so.....no more Scorpions after this. :( I guess it figures, practically ALL things fun & good are coming to an end. I hate the Millenium, the 80's were some of the best times of my life!

  • 2:51, it taste good mathias?

  • I GOT A FEVA...AND THE ONLY PRESCRIPTION...IS MORE COWBELL

  • In this time period, I heard it announced, the US Festival would be put on by Steve WOZ Wozniak of Apple Computers in Cupertino Ca. I wanted so bad to attend, but I was still in school then, living at home. DAMN great to see it finally, 80 years later! It was Memorial Day 1983

  • rudy +flying v guitar= 5 stars

  • Great Song, why can't music these days have some Awesome Guitars, and even a Rythym Guitar, atleast, they will just never beat the sound of a good Lead Guitar/ist,Never,Keep Rockin',Music Like this, even Some of the kids these days,do like it,and if a couple likes it,it just needs broke into some People just right,Rock On,and,Never Never Stop.

  • @Pain2Give I won't stop the ROCK EVER!!!!!!!

  • Herman Rarebell - ever the professional. Despite an ostensibly on-fire performance in this clip, discontent was lurking just beneath the surface. Herman, or, Ze German as he was also known, was contemplating leaving the Scorps for the greener pastures of Dokken. He felt he had not been given his due for writing many of the Scorps' true classics such as "Another Piece of Meat" and "Falling in Love". Dokken was also in want of a drummer at this time and made overtures to Herman.

  • @RenaissanceChampion Herman Rarebell still is the classic Scorps lineup, the era I became FULLY aware of them, before Love at First Sting, but to also get into UFO. He will always be Herman Ze German, it evokes the humor they all had

  • The talk box is one hell of a machine

  • @RetardWar And funny enough, before Frampton and Walsh, there was Mr. Neal Moser!! The guitar builder and designer himself, claims he used it first, I'd believe him

  • i was at the us festival... what a blast from the past.... scorpions rule... rock on brother

  • To say that i was at this concert( i'm french)

  • 14 people don't eat the night and drink the time...

  • I was there for all three days. Saw a bunch of great bands and alot of awsome sights. These guys totally kicked ass that day. I miss Cali and the laid-back attitudes!

  • Wicked hard core!

  • the 14 people doesn't like this are justin beerber fan

  • who is the guy in the yellow and black striped pants?

  • @iKenzieify , Matthias Jabbs!!! The best!

  • @Ladylouwolf thanks! he's a hottttttie! :D

  • 14 people are deft dumb and blind and dont deserve to live! SCORPS forever!

  • my dad went to like a motley crue concert and these guys opened for them and he said that the scorps were better then motley crue xD

  • @JESUSJUNTSON youre father is right

  • @JESUSJUNTSON

not sure when this occurred. This show is in 1983, Scorpions were HUUUUUUGE, while Motley Crue is just getting started. Maybe the Crue opened for Scorpions

  • @p5sky Memorial Day in 1983, Steve Wozniak put on the whole show and lost money in the venture, but he loved it, and it lasted in people's minds as it drew more people then Woodstock 69 I think!

  • Needs more cowbell!

  • Such a shame the US doesnt get good festivals like this anymore. Seems Europe and the UK get the good stuff now. We get stuck with Monster Energy Mayhem Festival with nothing worth mentioning.

  • q buena cancion para mi la mejor de los scorpions

  • saw the Tokoyo But this is the shit Guitar sounds way better They are totally in "The Zone Best Freaking Song EVER! My stepdad played a cover at a wild animal park and the theme was things relating to animals. They played this song and got a bunch of 80 year olds to clap their hands to the beat! patchwork orange ftw!

  • Like everybody else...I`m going to post because I was was there with two friends. We slept in the parking lot & woke up real dirty from all of the cars driving by.By the time the Scorpions came out,we were cold from the water cannons.Have to agree about Van Halen...we left from being cold /tired & Van Halen playing like shit after taking what seemed 1 to 2 hours just to come out & play.

  • awesome

  • Seen them at Capital Center with Fastway so close I could touch them awesome concert!

  • Matthias Jabs AKA bumblebee

  • @1:04 my dad. LOL

  • saw them at the cow palace in 83 , bon jovi opend for them

  • I left right after these guys played. Van Halen was all fucked up!!

    US Festival 83

  • lord, incredible wah solo

  • se....poia 14 zwa dn...aresei auto to kommati..????

  • @wordogne I agree... and I was/am a big VH fan, but they were more than an hour late and drunk as f**k (at least DLR was)... when a band can't remember the words to their own songs, well. OTOH, that day was most of our introduction to "Quiet Riot" (last minute replacement for someone... Motley Crue?) which may or may not have led us to discover Slade... :-)

  • I remember the concert in 84 (love at fisrt sting tour) in Clermont Ferrand HA !!! NOSTALGIE...

  • 3:14 - More Cowbells!!!!

  • More Cowbells!!!!

  • scorpions were by far the best band to play at the us festival. van halen sounded like shit and were never a good live band. scorps kicked some serious ass that night

  • @wordogne this is some seriously boring stuff whats with the singing clapping fairie??? , VH at least rocked and what a show!! drunk as they still rocked

  • @downincognito76. Well you could watch Dynamite from this same festival. That is one performance full of energy.

  • @downincognito76

VH was TERRIBLE that day. DLR was a pathetic, drunken fool and ruined the show. It was truly a shame for them to follow the Scorpions who totally rocked the place. So many of the bands were great that day, Judas Priest, triumph and the Scorpions were all 100x better than Van Halen.

  • @truedog1 YEah man the Scorpions killed everyone at Monsters of Rock stadium tour too...it was Scorpions, Metallica, Van Halen, Dokken and Kingdom Cum or something. Went to the one in Memphis. Sammy was with VH. I'm guessing 1987.

  • I can't believe things got to that level of stupidity back then - total cheese.

  • @tothatextent You haven't heard much Scorps have you?

  • @kingofthedeep I have heard it all. I grew up in the 70's and 80's.

  • @tothatextent If you were at that concert. Your shit would have got rocked.

  • @kingofthedeep Hardly.

  • @kingofthedeep Was there, and will never forget it.

  • 98 KZEW Dallas Ft Worth...... The ZEW !!!!!!!!!

  • fucken awesome

  • 4:45 the best moment!

  • I WAS THERE !

  • @bambamh20 good for you men, i wish i was there too, but i was born in the wrong time!

  • What instrument is he playing with his mouth?

  • Gratuitous CowBell at 3:47!!!

  • just shut up everybody!!! his voice is still amazing! scorps forever!!!!!!

  • Hot rock Chix at 2:11 lol

  • WONDERFULL!!!

  • Finally got to see the Scorps back in 2003. 18,000 people that night and the band sounded great. An older friend of mine who saw them a few times back in the late 70s and 80s told me I would hear one of the best hard rock bands live....he was not lying. One of my fave bands of all time!

  • @Rockywaves73 Greatest live band of all time, " Dynamite " live at Madison Square Garden 1984, nuff said.

  • 0:32

    Hell Yeh

  • Is the guy who deep throats the mike a sodomite?

  • @MrHurricaneIKE Why does it matter to you is sexual orientation? Unless that is you want to fuck his ass,or maybe have him fuck your ass.Either way i hope you find what you are looking for.

  • Is the singer a sodimite?

  • Great live band, good musicians, what else ? I believe people who were at the show when they say Scorpions were better than Van Halen, specially when you realize that Lee Roth was er... let's say very tired !!!

  • @danstrikeeagle Yes !! I was there & your RIGHT

  • @hizzzxxx How lucky you are !!! Good for you, mate !

  • Yep! I was there! Dave M from La Mirada. The Scorpions were loudest and ROCKED NON-STOP their whole set! I had to leave when Van Halen came on because they sounded like shit after the Scorpions!!!!

  • @TOF666 I was there too and these guys were kick ass awesome that night. I agree with you about Van Halen. They were bad!! Yet, the hardcore Van Halen fans to this day still deny it.

  • Comment removed

  • @govrom12 Van Halen isn't bad, the scorps are just Much better, an unfair comparisation, The Scorpions R the best band in the world! ( maybe an unfair personal add-) But I guess any band that plays with the Scorpions sounds bad-) Nothing compares to them,) One of the few bands I can say I like ALL of their songs!

  • @TOF666 The Scorps brought the crowd to a frenzy particularly after their finish with Six String Sting. Your right, DLR was wasted skipping lyrics, etc.

  • @chroniclerofthe70s Scorpions ended with a great live version of can't get enouph.

  • I'm lovin' it!

  • This live recording of the zoo is the best, probably because I was one of the 300,000 screaming metal heads in the audience :-) Oh, man. They hacked a couple minutes out of it.

  • This live recording of the zoo is the best, probably because I was one of the 300,000 screaming metal heads in the audience :-)

  • I'm guessing 14 people got seriously intoxicated listening to this song and accidentally pressed the dislike button

  • zoooooo łeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Comment removed

  • Was one year old when this concert took place, but still love it, Scorpions Rock....best Rock Band ever..<3

  • I still remember this day , it was fucking Great! 105 degree heat , 300,000 people , plenty party material along with Kick Ass Bands. That how you throw a Cali. Fest.

  • You couldn't ask for a better live band

  • @DHRC18 um VAN HALEN???? DLR era my friend

  • @DHRC18 deep purple ! scorpions are awesome...but purple ....i mean OLD purple with blackmore was the best live band :)

  • This shit is absolutely intoxicating. I am so glad I grew up in the 80's

  • mathias eyes is like an angel!

  • What a day if I remember can on at sunset to a fly over left after dark. Best show of the whole day. Yes Diamond Dave and the rest of VH were drunk, and were more woried about how much the other bands got paid.

  • I was there!

  • Now people know where Bon Jovi stole the 'Living on a Prayer' voicebox from. Scorpions rock!

  • saw them 4 times, first time in 79 in offenbach germany, i was at the concert in this video in 83 and twice more here in the US...they were awesome every time

  • Is Matthias using a talkbox or something?

  • @Dustehue928 Yes an old original Electro Harmonix "Golden Throat" worth about a grand if you can find one. You had to run it between two amplifiers and use a mic input along with controlling the air coming through a tube. Your mouth would make the vowel sounds as if your guitar was talking...Also see Peter Frampton, Ritchie Sambora for great talk box applications in modern music.

  • @Dustehue928 type in Electro Harmonix Golden Throat Voice Box in youtube search for some great videos. Mick Mars from Motley Crue also said "kick Start my heart" through one of these. There are better more reliable vox boxes out there but the "Golden Throat" started it ALL...

  • I was there and this was the best song from the best band of the entire weekend. VH was my favorite band going in, Scorps were my favorite going out...

  • I've seen the Scorpions several times in a festival concert atmosphere. They may not be the sexy choice but they are always the tightest band on the line-up.Tighter than Van Halen, Metallica, you name it.
