  • I just watched this on TV tonight. I forgot about this guy! Happy 2012 to all!

  • its two papers ! just look at his left hand during the trick , its never left the paper , he is holding the other one , it could be a copy from the one he shattered , i think , also the great trick is where he put the shattered one

  • parang bading!

  • I liked his advice on the timing of the illusion.

    It gets the audience involved.....

    ....nice touch.

  • I don't want to know how he did it. it's just brilliant and I want it to stay that way.

  • if everyone can do it then where does the torn paper go.? explain?

  • That's fine. Then you can pick up a book and find out or buy the trick. My statement still stands that people should not reveal a method to anyone that happens to read their comment.

  • why do idiots feel the need to reveal secrets? when someone performs a great piece of magic everyone is amazed and for a while are taken back to their childhood when they believe magic is real. when they learn the secret, that piece of magic is taken away and it's always a disapointment because the methods are always mundane. if people really want to find out how tricks are performed they can put in some effort and buy books. don't be an arse and reveale the secrets just for the hell of it.

  • @ethelwine7 If i don't know how it is done, i have no pleasure in the act.

  • I figured it out. He folds one of the papers and glues it to the other one then he rips one up then he unfolds the good one and the ripped one is rapidly hidden inside the pages of the good paper.

  • "Pause" ....it's in the little things :-) I love "News Flash" from Axel also..

  • How come I can't hear the newspaper ripping?

  • Thats beast

  • It is a good trick, I have learnt it at Exposedmagic..net

  • WoW

  • Ok I get that there's 2 papers but where are all the pieces of the 1st 1 going?

  • Class, regardless.

  • AwEsOmE

  • WTF this makes no sense. If there is truly 2 papers then where are all the torn up pieces going??? I MUST KNOW, all these magic tricks are driving me crazy

  • @mh1402 I think they're going in between the pages. Maybe he's not showing all the pages at the end and he skips one to conceal the torn pieces?

  • @mh1402 maybe up his sleeve

  • and not two newspapers. just one never torn and no sound of it being torn and I have definetively not done this trick before. Which I haven't so what I said was true.

  • I know how this is done too!

  • @RMimz how is it done

  • @aaronthomson1

a douple paper, he keeps the extra folded up behind the one he is folding

  • dude is crazy

  • Even when you figure it out it's still pulled off with real elegance. Great showmanship.

  • omfg!!!! its magic!

  • how do u do that lol,..geez thats awesome

  • Lmao.... fun good ole trick..... just fun to do and watch......

  • i aklready figured it out look at the new paper foldings, its just about making people look at you

  • i lyk that trcik

  • I can do this one!

  • I can remember this trick being played in my elementry when i was in grade 5... ahhh the old days

  • good trick!!

  • you know though that he ripped one paper up, well when he throws that out, how come it dont go everywhere?

  • still a great trick fun to watch

  • You are so close, but the real illusion is far more simple and requires very little sleight of hand, just preparation. Many beginning magic books contain this trick.

  • oh I appologize to much! I didn't realize you HAD to read my comment and comment on it. And by the way. I like knowing the tricks, because I would love to do it. Though I can't. I wish I could do. I don't have the correct "funger control" as you put it xD

  • You mean he really uses 2 papers? Really?

Want to expose any other tricks so you can pretend to be "cooler" than the rest of us who are just trying to enjoy the trick? I hear it is also fun to pull chairs out from behind senior citizens, kick little puppies and run with scissors... Do you want to do any of these bad behaviors too so that you might try to earn our respect and have us all marvel at how "great" you are?

Maybe you should use your "funger control" and create your own tricks.

  • @Knot4Profit if you're annoyed, just don't read the comments

  • you're a douchebag

  • still better than u =D

  • i know a trick is a trick but man... that was awsome! <3

  • That was really great. The showmanship was original and brilliant! Very entertaining and intriguing. =)

  • ok, great but how do i do it!?

  • I saw him fucking rip it. Wtf?

  • how is it done =[

  • hahaha!! very entertaining , . . .i love it

  • This is the Gene Anderson version of the trick. It is brilliant when done well. I really loved it when Doug Henning did it. That is the version they should have shown.

  • are you sure this is Gene Adersons version?

  • It looks like Gene's version... the words are almost exactly the same as in Gene's book.

This guy added a goofy persona and a stupid laugh and a pause before the reveal, but it is the same version. I would swear to it in a court of law.

  • Great trick! I remember seeing it on Crackerjack where it was performed by The Great Soprendo

almost every other week.....or so it seemed.

  • i knew how to do that with 2 identicle paper and you never show the back but this is better

  • sweet

  • LOL his perfomance is BRILLIANT its so good, love it

  • its a simple trick but he presented it well

  • I Know How It's Done

  • NO U DONT!

  • Yes, it is a simple trick, like most. But his presentation of it, his showmanship, and the comedy is the true magic.

Anyone can know the "secret", but not everyone can do it.

  • how is it done then hey?

  • Stop arguing on the internets.

    shaaaw

  • Internets? How many 'internets' have you exactly?

  • the wrong guy got credit for this one.

    It's Gene Anderson's routine.

  • Geoffrey Durham is the magician peforming here . His character is "The Great Soprendo" . I think when he says in the clip : "I invented the whole thing ... " he's referring to how he came up with the character "The Great Soprendo" . Unfortunately the way that line is juxtaposed with the performance it does make it appear as if he is taking credit for inventing The Torn & Restored Newspaper, which he did not . The version shown here is the Gene Anderson version of the trick.

  • shut up...
