not enough superlatives to describe just how good these guys were and how incredible johnny wilder jr's vocals are!! every now and then i dig out my vinyl and play some of this, but hearing them live.. they sound tight, all so in sync and wilder's vocal range and control are somewhere out in space! all done without guide vocals or any backing tracks ( take a GOOD look just about ALL todays 'singers' and LEARN!) god bless heatwave, thank you for your wonderful music. RIP j wilder
"All the songs on our fist album were written and compoesed by our organ player."... (Rod Temperton- who went on to write "Rock With You", "Of the Wall", "Thriller" and many other hits you know and love. Shoutout to Rod
I love this song forever and ever and a day, its the saddest story soon after this he was paralysed from the neck down until his death.... Rod Temperton is a genius
Love 2 listen 2 this every once in awhile, decided to comment on it. Thank you so much for sharing this vid/song. Whenever i feel lonely i click on this and get sent back to a time when i was with the love of my life. Finds the smile i once had and reminds me of what it felt like to be happy. Always & Forever goes deep in different ways. It's can be celebration of a couple that is in love or once was. It can mean a person wishing happiness for the other even after losing the love of the other.
@DonegalRaymie201 Thats Johnny Wilder on lead vocals, and his brother Keith next to him. Johnny passed away a few yrs ago. R.I.P. to one of the great singers of the 70's!!
HOLY CRAP!! he nailed the high notes LIVE!!!! i never saw this video before, and this is one of my top five fave songs of ALL TIME!! I MISS THIS ERA SOO MUCH.
what an unbelievable voice. I heard this song on the radio and vaguely remembered it from the old days. this is a great song and i can't believe it didn't become a favorite of mine.
my girl and I will get married to this song... this is our song but she likes the Luther version more. I like the original more. Anyways, we are a perfect match
I love this song! it's a classic love song. Beautiful lyrics. Thanks for sharing this with us. I would hear this song at Weddings a lot which is very befitting of the what the song is about. Awesome! Always and Forever still holds strong today... Thank you I for one appreciate the post, this was a very good quality video as well as, the sound. Take care
This song, in my opinion, is perfection...the melody, lyrics and the singer. Personally, I would never change the station when this song is on-no way!
i know i have wrote this before, but it says video removed so very sorry if it was already on this one! Anyway i had this song as our first dance at our wedding in 2008. Brings back such happy times and it shocked everyone that we choose this as i was 27 and hubby 32...think everyone thought we would have a cheesy one such as take that lol. couldn't think of a better song than this to start our lives together x
Rod Temperton wrote for many of the famous singers and bands in the 70's and 80's....just ""google" him and you can see exactly what songs he wrote or helped produce.
Regarding rod Temperton keyboard player ,,,Rod ended up writing 'Rock With You', 'Baby Be Mine', 'The Lady In My Life' and the title track of Michael's 'Off The Wall' album in 1979, together with the title song 'Thriller' of his follow-up...A genius lyricist from good old england.
My wedding song. NOT in the cheesy way though. I first heard this song at like 5 years old and I loved it every since. That guy Rod is amazing. The work he did with heatwave and MJ is timeless. Always and Forever will always and forever be my favorite song of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mantese was stabbed leaving a gala in London by an unknown person. The knife hit him in the heart and for several minutes, he was clinically dead. When, after several months, he awoke from coma, he was blind, mute and paralyzed in his entire body. Mantese was replaced by bassist Derek Bramble. Adding keyboardist Calvin Duke to the group.
@BigLyfe09 This is 1977, so I'm assuming Johnny Wilder, Jr. was 27 years old (he was born in 1950). They were just hitting they're stride. Definitely before the Central Heating album. Classic all the way.
@Harrisfc He was injured in that auto accident in February of 1979. A lesser person would have become a recluse, but not Johnny. That was not his style. He continued to work (and teach) until the day he died.
@Harrisfc I think Johnny was born in 1949. Rod Temperton, on keyboards, wrote most of their songs (and all of their hits). He would later write songs for MJ, Chaka Khan, Lionel, etc. . . .
part 4_ Yeah, I must admit dam good memories!!! Im sure you all can recall a few too! Stop lying, you know Im right ! What was yours? Keep it clean now. Although many have tried to rerecord this song no one will have sung it like Heatware has. "Always and Forever" has and always will stand the test of time. Thank you Heatwave for your immense talent and musical contribution to the music world. Simply put YOU ARE AWESOME !
part 3_ I remember being asked by my crush to dance to this song with the lights dim and the disco ball spinning above us. Being nervous and trying not to show it. Then when he gets to the part of the song where he hold that note forever, thats when your crush makes his move and hugs to bring you closer until the end of the song and you swear you feel like your heart will jump out your chest.
Part 2_This is what or should I say, You will have contributed your talent to a song that lasts thru many generations. Just in my family alone I can think of at least three generations that love this song.
Too all the young wannabe singer out there, who shall remain nameless (like the Britneys and Miley"s out there) If you dedicate yourself to your craft, like Heatwave dedicate themselves see pt 2
Rod Temperton is a musical genius. If you dont believe me, just ask Quincy Jones or Michael Jackson (well, maybe its a bit too late to ask Michael now) or any other prominent figure from the Soul /R&B fraternity of the 70s & 80s. And who would have thought that a white boy from Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire, England would have so much soul..?
@cockalingo That threw me for a loop when I found out he was from England. But it really threw me for a loop when I found he was in Heatwave for their first 2 albums.
