How to connect to xbox live with a router and modem

what if its a modem/router cuzz its a modem but also has wi fi on it so its a router can you help me and it has 4 ethernet ports in the back please reply back soon

@machero23 ok..A MODEM is what generates the internet with the phoneline chord..;...a router just lets u use the internet with more then 1 thing at a time...so...u plug 1 ethernet from the modem to the router in the 1st port...plug another from the router to the comp using the 2nd port...the last plug a 3rd ethernet from the router to the xbox using the 3rd port...all togethere ur using 3 ethernets...hope this helps...i not msg me and ill try to keep helping

@ChefMarty1984 there is a website that you can check your ip (forgot the name of it) if you can get your ip from there im pretty sure you can just enter that in and it should work...

hi i have a speedtouch asdl usb modem there are 2 wires but i dont dont know which one is the internet 1 and i think one of them connects to the computer help!

I got a ethernet chord and i unplugged my 360 and router  then pluged the ethernet cable into both then turned on my router and 360 and when i try and connect it says my connection is Disconnected any help?
