Please Relpy: Shoild I get the quad core i7 imac? I use logic 9 with alot of virtual instruments and alot of effects especially space designer. Please Reply
Great Video! Can i ask tthe question. I'm planning to get a new Imac. i was planning to get the 27 with i5 because i do loads of photo/video editing gaming and more. so i really going for the i5. But i recently went to a local store and saw the 21.5 and thought its big enough. But my problem is that i get discount at my local Currys store so i can get the 27 for roughly the same price as what i would get from apple with the 21.5 upgraded to the i5 but still lower specs. what would you reccomend?
hey man awesomee review. helped me alot. just wondering. Apple Will release a new line of iMacs June/July 2011 right?. well if they do. which im sure. what do u think the new ones will have? like the cheapest model. Retina Display? better processor?
can anyone tell me whats the difference between imac(27inch) i3 core and i5 core cuz im thinking of getting a 27 inch mac but i dont know if getting the i5 core is worth the extra 300 plus taxes so if anybody could help thx
Thumbs up bud still waiting on that effin delivery ordered it on Mon. =oP oh BTW @peterpetersnbg; Trolling a vlog a guy makes with his time and effort to attack those commenting ... tisk tisk What are you doing about the flood? About the world's problems? Seems to me you are viewing a Mac vlog and trolling ... Put that high-n-mighty criticism to good use and join the peace corp. =) otherwise shh. MORE VIDS MORE VIDS!!!
shit pakistan is drowning .. a flooded area the equivalent size of italy... and people would rather discuss the difference bewtween the dual core and the new i3,i5,i7..the truth is we are losing our marbles.. what a shame people place the the difference of a processor to its older version as more of a prioritiy to the lives of women and children who have never seen a computer in there life let alone an IMAC...blind and oblivious we humans are and uncaring to boot
@OhFookinELL ..words oh words the power of words...that was done ( written sponataneously ) in effect when you think about it ( you means anyone willing to listen ) ime totally right...there is a thing called priorities.. its a serious word.. but very sadly .. very sadly indeed... its hidden in the smoke screen of modern day life....ime not trying to annoy or upset anyone just trying to let people know what they really are and that is oblivious uncaring and selfcentered...
@peterpetersnbg Don't take me wrong, i'm not against you in anyway. You are right and i agree with you, but....this channel is about Apple computers. People will talk about apple computers here! But also...does'nt mean they don't care about whats going on in the world.
It comes upto over £2000, was the previous model cheaper? What is actually new about this one? Or should I just wait till next year until the next model comes out? Thanks.
The average update time for the iMac is around 226 days, so if you don't mind waiting.... you could teoretically wait forever ;-) There will always be an updated version just around the corner.
If you need it, buy now and be happy with what you get. It's really a nice and powerfull all-in-one desktop. It will serve you well for atleast 3-4 years.
The new iMac has higher memoryspeed: 1333MHz vs. 1066MHz.
1Gb VRAM vs. 512Mb in the old i5/i7 model. (great for highres textures in various 3D apps. and games), Upgraded SD-card reader.
And the option to upgrade or add an internal SSD drive, is really great. SSD drives is the future in terms of speed. Right now they are to expensive (and to small), compared to old mechanical Harddrives, to become standard in your everyday consumer PC/Mac. But that's just a matter of time.
You are rignt. I was thinking about the optional i3 to i5 upgrade, which is a dual i5 with HT. The baseline i5-quadcore now comes with a higher pricetag than the previous model.
Where i'm from, the added cost of the new i5-Quadcore over the previous generation it replaces, is around 442 USD (For a few minor upgrades).Still no Bluray and USB3.0.
The 5750 is actually not that much faster than the previous HD 4850 (in some cases it's actually slower) . The 5670 is quite a bit slower, than the 4850.
The old 27" i5 iMac (with 4850), is/was a real quadcore CPU. The new basemodel 27" i5 is "only" dualcore (with HT support). A real quadcore imac will now cost you even more, than the previous generation. The only advantages I see is 1Gb of VRAM (great for big and highdetailed textures), DX11 support (for games).
@MegaColeSprouse Only the i5 and i7 processors support turbo boost, the i3s do however support hyperthreading so even though it's a dual core CPU, the OS sees it as a "quad core"
@tldtoday Hey, I've been hearing a lot of rumors about a 22' touch screen iMac, so do you guys know if this is true? and if i should wait till the 2011 model?
I have been waiting for this update im gonna buy the 27 inch core i5 max it out with the new faster ram in august im just a little puzzled why the core i7 imac is still build to order though its still gonna be a huge upgrade for me,I also found 12 reasons why I should upgrade from the 2008 imac 24 inch.
@Themilitarykid1 these iMacs are not prone to overheating. The core i5/i7 are 32nm chips, unlike last years 45nm.That mean lower power consumption so less heat dissipation. The 32nm were specifically designed for laptops in mind, but can be used on desktops as well. However, in the MacBook pro apple only offers these 32nm core i5/i7 as dual core, instead of quad core.Likely cause MacBook pro's will overheat with quad core chips.
@tldtoday the 3.6 core i5 is available on the 27 inch and yes that clock is really fast.I personally would go for the 2.93 core i7 cause of the bigger cache at 8mb.It's nice to know that even the base model in the 21 inch has a pretty fast clock speed at 3.06 ghz using the core i3.That's quite an improvement from last year's 2.4 core2duo base model and yet apple still was able to keep the price the same.
@mannypeligroso you could but you could probably buy the i5 21.5 in imac and the i7 imac for all the custom work you would need to do and it would be prone to over heating...
They only made MacBook Pros 16:10 to allow a slightly bigger battery. Also, the 27" i7 won't be very good for gaming, at least you won't be able to run a very high resolution, or am I incorrect?
Where can I find a picture or guide to MacBook Pro keyboards? I'm having trouble remembering the ALT SHIFT keys :S
The core i5 in the iMac does hyperthread depending which model you choose. There are now two versions of the core i5 in the iMac.The 3.6 core i5 which supports hyperthreading, whereas the 2.8 core i5 doesn't.The core i5 in last years iMac didn't hyperthread and at the time it was only wise to spend $200 more and get the core i7 with hyperthreading. However, these are newer core i5/i7 intel chips from last year and they just made it in time for this years iMac refresh. They are 32 mm chips instead
the i5 is the 760 and that one does NOT have hyper threading and a turbo of 3.33 and the i7 is the 870 or the 875k and dose have 8 threads and a turbo of 3.6 and if it is the 875k its faster than half of the i7 900"s
wtf is "ATI 5750 SSDs" or did you forget commas nd you mean it has ssds as well instead of hdd?

2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 SDRAM
