4:40 admits that Arminianism is based not on scripture, but human logic. "The strength of Arminianism lies - not in the direct evidence that can be produced to disprove calvinsim foreordination and election...but mainly in the proof that....and that....and in the inference" Really, inference. Arminians infer that Calvinism is incorrect, they do not prove it from Scripture...at least they're honest.
BTW, that whole fun with twisting definitions thing was to assanine for me to comment on.
You should not go to dictionary (.) com to find a definition for a theological word. You need to consult a theological dictionary. That aside, here's a history lesson for you. Reformed theology is the theology that was developed during . . .THE REFORMATION!!! Hence, Reformed Theology. Read Luther's book, The Bondage of the Will. He agrees with Calvin. Also, the NIV is of no consequence. RT'ers use the KJV, the ESV and the Geneva Bible. Learn before you speak, please.
I just see people making comments without quoting the bible. I understand about the problems, but really have you considered some of the verses that suport God's soveriegnty?
Proverbs 16:4
4 The LORD works out everything for his own ends-- even the wicked for a day of disaster.
(NIV)
Really...is it so hard to accept that God has a purpose?
Reformed Theology is nothing than REFORMATION Theology in contrast to Roman Catholic Theology. I do not like the NIV either. I study from three english translations which are the KJV NASB & ESV.
You may not know it but in Reformed theology, all creation groans, awaiting the day when, with God's children, it will be renewed in glorious freedom from death and decay (see Ro 8:21-22 for details).
So I wonder -- do YOU believe that creation itself will be renewed? If not, whose theology is restricted -- yours or ours?
sinning christians will go to hell? and your solution is to love jesus? that is the most absurd thing i have ever heard. you have it completely backwards. first of all because your first statement sounds like it came straight from a jew, but your second statement came from a christian. we can't stop sinning. it's impossible. that's why we love jesus.
The creator of this video obviously doesn't understand what reformed theology is. Keep reading your bible buddy. As for your definition... no one is trying to "Change" the Bible. The word "reform" refers to the changing of practices that the Roman Church had taken on. in that aspect all protestants are reformed.. and then Armenians tried to reform even more than the Bible allowed (remonstrants). Read Grudem's book "Systematic Theology" he does an excellent job handling all issues.
Most of the people who use these kinds of arguments (straw man arguments that say Calvinists take away from Scripture), do it because many of them do not understand Church history. I am reading J.A.Wylie's "The History of Protestantism" 4-vol. Excellent work! I'll check out your reference as well...the study of History is a very important aspect of the Christian walk, and one that should not be neglected. Thanks for your comment.
I agree with your comment 110%. I haven't had a chance to check your reference, but perhaps I will. Right now I'm reading "Always Reforming" which takes a look at the interesting questions that almost every theologian is now looking into.
Maybe explaining the circumstances prompting this video would be helpful. It's hard to grasp its purpose completely. I may have misinterpreted its intent. I apologize.

It's obvious that you know nothing about what you're talking about.

Great video! I know it's your first one, but I have a feeling that you will be a great asset to Christianity.
