I would argue that snowboarding is disappearing though, where I am from snowboarders usually outnumber skiers in the park on sometimes on the mountain.

Everybody, stop hating on skiers!!! Professional snowboarders even say that there is no way the could do some of the things that skiers do (moguls, chutes, etc.). As for parks, skiing looks a lot better for jumps and sometimes rails and it takes much more skill. I can't go through a terrain park without a snowboarder cutting my off because he's going literally less than 10mph.

If you want an example watch snowboarder Torstein Horgmo's game of In Your Face with skier Jossi Wells, you can see how well the two sports work together and the respect they have for the each others sport.

The skiers wanted to be cool like boarders and get out of spandex, so the leached on to the sport and style they'd been making fun of ever since boarding started.
