  • is the tune not "the Holy Ground"?

  • who are the guys at the end with the banners?

  • They are the "Keepers of the Ground" who mark out the positioning of the guards and the turning points on the parade ground. They are always first on parade and last off parade.

  • can also hear "The Holy Ground" being played

  • Hello which march play the band?

    Thanks.

  • It is called "Erin My Home" arranged by Major Philip Shannon, Director of Music, Irish Guards

  • The Massed bands Quick Troop is a march called "The Ulster Division"

  • REALLY!! Didn't see that coming! Is there still a full component of street liners then?

  • Since the Irish Guards are trooping their colour, I'd imagine there will be quite the selection of musical pieces. :D

Poor guys at the back trying so hard to get and stay in step.

Also didn't know that the standard bearers that are all colour sergeants! Must be boring standing there the entire time in the blistering heat.

  • Dear me! Well the bands sounded pretty good and nice to see them 10 deep again, but, some of the troops wil be going up and down the square a few times before the real thing!! Bit of a mess at the back!

  • Oh my. Some truly terrible marching indeed from the Coldstream Guards in No. 5 and 6. Guard.

  • Indeed, " 'eft, right, 'eft, right" isn't that difficult! If it were me I would march those particular Guardsmen all the way back, and make them do it all again. And again if needed. Until they bloody got it right! ;-)

  • well said!
