They are the "Keepers of the Ground" who mark out the positioning of the guards and the turning points on the parade ground. They are always first on parade and last off parade.
Hello there this is retreoFan1 here I have played this nearly twice a day Erin My home can someone tell me who wrote it
I agree about the Marching its the first of many rehersals done before the Queen takes the Salute on the 13th of June and all will be shown by the BBc to their Credit have shown this Parade since I was about 7 years old I have also been to two Troopings one in 1975 and one in 1983
Hi there Its retrofan1 here can you tell me all the music being used for this years trooping as when I video it I will know what to listen out for.
What is the quick troop this year last year it was freedom of the City It looks like every year a new march has to be found for the Troop and that is nice to see
Dear me! Well the bands sounded pretty good and nice to see them 10 deep again, but, some of the troops wil be going up and down the square a few times before the real thing!! Bit of a mess at the back!
Indeed, " 'eft, right, 'eft, right" isn't that difficult! If it were me I would march those particular Guardsmen all the way back, and make them do it all again. And again if needed. Until they bloody got it right! ;-)
is the tune not "the Holy Ground"?

REALLY!! Didn't see that coming! Is there still a full component of street liners then?

Since the Irish Guards are trooping their colour, I'd imagine there will be quite the selection of musical pieces. :D
Poor guys at the back trying so hard to get and stay in step.
Also didn't know that the standard bearers that are all colour sergeants! Must be boring standing there the entire time in the blistering heat.
