wow nasa astronauts get to see so much more of the earth than most human beings will see in there entire life. There not many people who get to see the earth in the ways they do. IT must be fantastic the views you get and the coming back to earth. I think in the future we will discover other planets with life on but they will be by unmanned vehicles.

Now can someone please tell me and tell me if I am hearig this correctly. It is my understanding that our space shuttle program ended or was suppose to end in September 2010. So has it already ended and we(the united states) are no longer launching anything into space from U.S. soil and instead launching from Russian or Kazakstani soil? Can someone please update me. And if it has not ended then why has it now ended?

Japan sent a surveying sattalite to the moon and scanned every inch. They even went over the Apollo landing sites..all of them..and the bottom of all the LEMs are clearly visible as are the foot prints and travel paths left from the men walking there. They can be found on Nasa's website. So yes, Im certain we went to the moon.

oh there are alot of them research it and research the van allen belt too then you know that its impossible to go threw it. The is a shield around the earth a reason. but they are doing tests with H.A.R.R.P to try and make holes in it. This is for everyone on this page! men going into deep space will never happen. out side the van alan belt which surrounds this planet keeps earth from burning up. You need 6 feet of lead shielding to travel outside of this. Why do you think we dont go more then 400 miles up. The only thing that can travel out side this shield is robots and probes.

@pacloro well you have to se it from another perspectiv, if the cold war never existed it would probably had taken lpnger time to land on the moon as the competition between usa and the soviet union increased the pressure and funding of their respectiv space programs :)

I would scrap the whole ares project. For moon missions I would launch a Falcon9 "Heavy" for Earth Departure stage. Use a Falcon9 for the LSAM and Falcon9 for the Crew Vehicle. We are probably looking at about 1 billion in savings per lunar mission.
