@BlueViper9 It wasn't a dream because if you remember, Okazaki had done something to make people happy (like his dad) and Ushio saw the green light float to his Okazaki's chest and without him knowing, he caught it, so the time when Ushio dies, he starts having his regrets of meeting Nagisa, but he changes his mind, and again, he unknowingly wished for them back. It's a beautiful anime, and yes I agree that Nagisa and Ushio are alive. :)

@DaesungSuki It was character development. Tomoya started out as a highschool bum who hated life and ended up a happy father and husband. Nagisa was a lonely highschool girl with one dream, and in the end she accomplished it. It's not how horrible life was, but it was how close you got to the characters, understood every emotion and thought, and cried everytime they did. It was how it affected you and how it caused you to feel after every turn and every line. Plus, the music was fantastic

While the anime itself takes on a fairly fantastical setting near the very end, it is by far the most realistic and straightforward shows out there.

Does that mean it doesn't have plot. No.

Does that degrade the characters? Far from it.

Does it take away drom it's beauty? It enhances it.

Sometimes it's good to pull back from the senseless violence and ecchi anime and watch something that envokes pure emotion and thought. Clannad as a whole delivers in spades.

I'm one of the few people who cried like a baby reading Clannad but didn't shed so much as a tear watching it. I watched before reading, so I cried even though I knew what was going to happen with each of the routes.
