As a Professional Photographer I have used 'sensor swab' since 2003 . This product is the 'best on the market' - period!. I am using the sensor-clean-kit on all my D3's - I have 3 Nkon D3 bodies and all are immaculately-clean thanks to sensor- clean. The Giotto rocket blower which has a built in micro-filter. Compressed-air-in-cans' which will totally mess up your sensor with more dust . Always use a fully charged battery" before cleaning your senso Good Video - well presented and accurate !
My Nikon D80 takes very clean pictures, but i see some dust when i look to take pictures. I used a blower but the spot is in the camera, but not in the pictures. What can i do?
Thanks for the tutorial. I generally stay below f/11, so I never see how dirty my sensor really is. The other day I had to use f/29 for a shot and I cringed when I imported the photo. It literally looked like someone took my lens off and sneezed on the filter! As I only have one body, I can't afford the downtime to send it in. This video took the fear factor out of doing it myself. Thank you so much!
From my self-learning experience this video is spot on. Follow it and be confident. Cleaning a sensor takes time, perhaps more time and more effort than imagined. But it works!
Thanks! After watching this I feel a little more comfortable in cleaning my sensor instead of sending it in to Nikon for a clean.
By the way- I got some other brand air blower, and it got some of the dust off but not all. Should I try the Giottos Rocket air blower? The one I have is similar in design, but I'm wondering if the Giottos has something special about it. I see a lot of people choosing that particular brand... Thanks!
I've came back from some landscape shots and I've seen some big, ugly, blah smudge and I was like... lenses, I've changed it and still there was that smudge :@ My 20D had dirty sensor!! Noo :| I'm almost have wet pants when I thought about cleaning it but I've bring my self up, went to some shop and bought some blower and I blew, and blew and made a picture and smudge has gone :D Stupid have always luck xD Don't need to wet cleaning! And thanks for that vid coz I'll never do it without it! :)
Very good video. I was about to use a can of dust remover untill I watched this. It cost me $150.00 for the equipment to do the service but it's worth evey cent.
hi there, how bout a tutorial on cleaning the focusing screen. i've got my focusing screen filled with dust, plus, fingerprints all around it. it would be nice if there's a solution for that. thanks!
Thanks for this tutorial. Have been rather reluctant to try cleaning my sensor but now feel much more comfortable about doing it. Will have a go tomorrow.
Thanks a lot, I have seen other people clean there sensors with there camera upside down without even looking at them, but this video made it rely easy to understand.
im a newbie and i thought that paint brush is good to clean the sensor and resulted are smears and streaks on the ito coating, my question is, is this method will remove the smears cause by the paint brush?
very well explanied, what would you recommend for sensor cleaning? Paint brush, swab or other method? Thank you

This is a great tutorial on cleaning, i personally only have had to use the hama puffer, which is great!
Though i personally shoot lots of film, which is GREAT! because a new roll is always clean! And i wouldnt bother spotting for dust.

Best wet method video on youtube. You have a wonderful and easy-to-understand way of explaining things. Is this the method known as copperhill?

@cookiepwnsU
Your camera is a 1.6x crop factor so "Type 2" is the correct swab size for you.

FYI, they no longer make E2, and on their website they say that regular Eclipse is just as safe for all sensors as E2.

The preasure used to clean in this video was much more than shown as too hard on the pictures where preasure was illustrated :P
Other than that, a bit nervous, and breathing helps =) Good information though, I've always only used air.

michelin996 3 years ago
You should be able to remove the mess you made with your brush, but you will probably need more than one swab.
When I had a similar problem I needed 3 swabs to have a clean sensor.
Good luck with you cleaning
