The first time the ball strikes his arm it is unintentional. However, then you can clearly see he moves his hand to the ball and deliberately brings it down to his feet.

France had a weak team and Ireland too in 2010. Irish should forget this unlucky event. They would not have done anything remarkable in the competition.
