Oliver looks more likely to have a genetic disorder of some sort, his face looks deformed and he can't keep his tongue in his mouth and the size and shape of his head looks like someone with some sort of special needs.

It's interesting how the discovery of a "strange chimp" was immediately assumed to be part human and not a mutant or different breed of chimp. There is an unnatural fixation with discovering the missing link, so much so, that farses like this are the result. If it were'nt for that poor chimp being exploited, this would be almost as funny as Geraldo opening the empty vault.

Oliver's MITOCHONDRIAL DNA is not human. We already knew that. Mitochondrial DNA comes from the mother. His mother was a chimp. His father was the human and this would not show from these tests. What are these scientists trying to hide, or are they just that stupid?

Is it not obvious that Oliver is a "test" by nature to continue the evolution of chimpanzees? I think that he is the first step in their evolution. As for the possibility of a real humanzee, anyone who ever tries such a thing should burn in hell. Only because it would be the cruelest thing to give life to such a creature. If science lacks any feeling, then there is no need for it anymore.

@sunnydale22 How about duh? No scientist argues that we evolved from chimpanzees. The evidence shows that both humans and chimpanzees evolved from common ancestors. The common ancestor is extinct today, but we have fossil records.
Humans are members of the great ape family, however, so to say that we're "completely" different species isn't accurate.
Also saying that evolution doesn't exist makes you seem like you were born in the 1300's.

mtDNA come from the mother...ithe mother is most definately a chimp because if Oliver came out out a human mother, we'd have heard about it back when he was born or his world fame would have compelled some woman to come forward as the mother...so being that it's obvious the mtDNA is from a mother chimp, of course it's going to have 48 chromosomes...they should have checked the nuclear DNA...perhaps it would have shown he had 47 chromosomes

Just read that in Apr 2008 Oliver was at a watermelon party for a Friends of Primary Primates. The sanctary had a court dispute about their board of directors. Squabbles aside Oliver is said to be doing well and has ape friends! He also is housed with a girlfriend named Raisin! He is said he is trying to impress her. Bless Primary Primates!

@Omfgwhtavid did you know that coloured eyes are a mutation? Albino people are a mutation, six fingered people,. Mutations don't all cause desease, and not all mutations are ugly and deformed. They are called mutations because they are changes in the DNA sequence, that's it.

@S3AANNN I do to :/ But in an earlier episode it said that the other Chimps didn't accept him. I know they say he is a Chimp and it seems that way but Chimps still accept other Chimps with mutations.....so to speak into their little groups. It's rare they would reject something like that. I know all the evidence points to him being a Chimp but their is something about him I can't explain. If you look at the whites of his eyes they're like a Humans......It's creepy :/ Poor thing
