A good actress can have multiple facial expressions instead of only "the baby smile" and "the blank confused look". A good actress is believable in what she says instead of talking in the same flat tone throughout a film. Mariah was not a good actress in this film. At least she redeemed herself in Precious, wish I could say same 4the dude playing Julian.

I don't think this movie is bad. I thought that Mariah's acting was better than most professional actresses. I thought the beginning was touching but the part where it was suppose to be the 1980's it didn't feel like the 80's.I think that if she had actually did a movie on her real life that would have been more interesting, her real life had more depth with the racism, her dad leaving, and her having to struggle right before she got famous.I love Mariah though, greatest singer of my generation.

I mean, god bless the late Luther Vandross for giving her that tip but she does have to use it when she isn't so she won't lose it as fast. Notice how before she started "resting" her voice was superb? it's because she didn't rest, she practiced and trained more than she does now. I absolutely love her but I don't think she doing right by resting her voice.
