  • aw i this band hypnotizes my mind must buy cibo matto viva la women

  • Oh my god, I remember this show...man, bring back the 90s. What WAS it about this time...everything was just so fun, kids today don't understand...lol.

  • lmao "and of course, 2pac and Dr. Dre"

  • wow i thought that guy looked like john lennon, then realized its his son! COOL!

  • Wow, the girls knew what they were doing.

  • @sketcha09 Yuka Honda is a real pro. I recommend her work.

  • im in love wth these girls. u reckon there into threesomes?

  • Boy could play bass!!!

  • Classic. Sean Lennon shredding on bass. Experimental/Alternative just like his folks. Is there a better quality version of this vid somewhere.

  • @Tank611 Just posted a slightly better version as a response. Found it on youtube as part of the of the whole episode.

  • I wish the audio was better.

  • Who voted this down?

Who votes down cute Japanese girls jumping around and screaming their hearts out?

    You will be flogged!

  • Great.

  • I knew it! I saw this when it aired (even though I never had cable), so it was really rare for me to see MTV. I just remember hating this entirely. I thought it was the worst crap that I've ever seen. I was saying, "what the hell is this crap, can't sing, screaming endlessly"

Then years later, I got in to Cibo Matto, but when I heard the chicken song, I swore it was from this video I saw year ago. I tried to find reference to this and didn't get anywhere...

  • I remembered that they performed in some kids room that supposedly won the show.

You posting this confirms that my memory was right, I saw and hated Cibo Matto.

I still this this is terrible. And I never warmed up to that damn chicken song, but I love the rest of the album, LOVE.

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • STEPHEN CARL MURPHY CO.

  • jake fogelnest and cibo matto

  • I want to hear their Black Hole Sun cover damnit!

  • Shawn Lennon rocks the bass!

  • this is the greatest thing I have ever seen!

  • its amazing how much audiences' attention spans have deteriorated.. 10-15 years ago, they could put a band on a small, low-budget set with 2-3 different camera shots and put it on mtv. now all they air is tacky, in your face dating shows... eeuuggchchhhhchushidhasiu807896p76rt7fgjxc

  • Miho was a lot thinner in those days. She got a little chubby a few years later, but I wonder what she looks like today.

  • sean looks sooo much like john... thats sweet/trippy

  • Wow Mtv use to be fucking awesome

  • @CloudMeetsSky

Yes there was a tiime when MTV used to play actual music...

  • it`s just ridiculous...

    but it rocks!!! XD

  • What's Sean Lennon doing here?

  • he was dating with yuka honda....

    great bass riff!!!

  • this is the psycho zep version

    really good

  • This had to be filmed in a studio, not his room.

  • That was great then, and it still rocks today, they were having so much fun doing that, only thing missing was a pillow fight.

  • Love the album, but it's pretty embarrassing live. Oy.

  • yeah they're kinda like a parody of themselves. I mean that in a good way

  • I know what you mean, Frank but let Tits see her kid, huh?

  • Don'tyoufuckinlookatme!!!!

  • i remember watching this when i was in high school, this shit fuckin rocks!!!!

  • i would love to smoke with them

  • And enjoying every second of it.

  • I think the audio on mine is a bit better. I could try to upload it if you're still interested.

  • @chemtrails78 Yes! There needs to be a higher quality version on YouTube.

  • I don't recall seeing anything that was that musically interesting be so flippin funny.

    Wow.

  • holy shit that's russel simmons from JSBX on the drums!!

  • that was fucking awesome. especially where they scream that was way before their time!

  • not reallllyyyyyy, yoko ono did that screaming stuff in the 70s >_>

  • Squirt TV. Oh my god the memories!

  • THis was awesome! I saw this show the night it first aired! I never forgot about it but never found it again! thanks for posting this! I love this i love squirt tv! I love jake fogelnest! I love cibo matto!

  • know your chicken

  • In case you don't know the difference... Sean Lennon is playing the Bass, not guitar

but, great vid, Cibo Matto rock!!

  • Just... wow.

  • i recorded every episode of this when it was on. i probably still have it somewhere. i remember the fugees, beck & mike d, janeane garafalo, 2 of the kids in the hall, jenny mccarthey, wesley willis, etc.

mtv was so much better then. after that was cancelled buzzkill took its timeslot, which was even better.

  • el mejor grito de la historia!!!!!

  • Now that's what I call FUCKING RUBBISH..........

    but I quite like it.

  • Classic !

  • anyone know the guitar tabs?

  • whoa. Sean did not look good with long hair :\

  • the scream is perfect

  • Poor video quality, but still very hot. What years was this from?

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • i second that!....

    waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa LOl!...

  • is there a better audio version of this?

  • yep in the Cibo Matto EP 1995

  • i mean this vid with better audios. I have their albums.

  • I've asked about this version too and people think I'm talking about the one on the album.

  • it's the 90s VHS not gonna get better quality. maybe clicking HD improves audio

  • I think the audio on mine is a bit better. I could try to upload it if you're still interested.

  • would be greatly appreciated if you did upload.

  • Before I saw Cibo Matto at Lilith Fair '99, I'd never heard of them. I just really wanted to see Sean Lennon. The girls came out, and I was like, this is cute. Then Miho started spitting hot fire. Completely blew my mind.

  • Yuka and Miho........viva funky chicken!!!

  • And when put infront of a live audience, the Cibo Matto seems to turn into a completely different band that yells instead of sings...

  • Sometimes that can be good. I like this version of "Know Your Chicken" way better than the album's version. But as far as yelling instead of singing, I saw them live three times and they did plenty of singing. Check out changoelectrico's "Working for Vacation" video.

  • Okay, I stand corrected. I love them either way though. They're a great band.

  • i love cibo matto!

  • sean really rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • that's the stuff! Sean rocks

  • I only wished the audio was a bit louder cuz this is tits!

  • This is the perf that I discovered Cibo Matto!

Wow so long ago.... Which is what Miho said when I brought it up, lol.

  • OMG you talked to Miho about this? What did she say and when did you talk to her?

  • This clip is way better than the "Know Your Chicken" video directed by Evan Bernard. Evan did great work with JSBX, but his work with this band was totally unremarkable.

  • WOW! Sean is really young here.

  • is it me, or does Miho's shirt have ipod shuffles on them?

  • haha for some reason i so damn obsessed with this song ughh..

  • Sean is playing a bass.

  • jake was the man ! squirt tv brought soooo much good music to everyone!!!

  • fuckin' AWESOME!!!

  • HEY!!cibo matto is very original and doesn't like any other band in the world...you obviously didn't hear their other songs yet..they're geniuses

  • good band!

    YEaH!

and in italian cibo matto means crazy food!!

    CRAZY! ;)

  • REMIXXXXXXXX!

  • Is this version on a record? I like this version better than the other one I heard.

  • Yeah, this is more like the version that's on the "Chibo Matto" EP from 1995, as opposed to the version on "Viva La Woman!" from 1996 (which is the one they made the music video for). But I agree, I like this version better too. Way more rockin'. A great song either way, though.

  • I think mine is Chicken Fried Rice, anybody know their's?

Hope these foul sounding brats are not anyone's chicken...

Well close your eyes and only listen to them singing... they actuall sound like teen chickens in the playground, playing hopscotch or catching cook!!

I'd rather play some classical music with the volume high enough that it screaches than hear these yuukks as "pretending" professionals!!!!!!! I need to puke them out now.... :-S

  • cool

  • Holy Eff!!! I have been looking for this clip. I saw when it was first aired. Epic.

  • BIRTHDAY CAKE PEOPLE! I KNOW THEM! They were on the Jet Grind Radio Future soundtrack. This good to know.

  • When was it performed? I mean, how old can Sean be on this vid?

  • I want to say 1996 or 97.

  • thx.

  • Sean was 20 years old when this aired.

  • Russell Simins from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion on Drums.

  • RS was also in Butter 08 with them, along with Mike Mills and Rick Lee (of Skelton Key)

  • Hey, please put more of the end of the show, when Hiro is singing soundgarden black hole sun

  • lol, sorry Miho i mean...

  • Awesome, thanks for uploading this! This appearance on Squirt TV was my introduction to this wonderful band. I remember getting the album and then being disappointed that the album's version was a lot quiter/calmer than this version.

  • *the album's version of "Know Your Chicken"

  • OMG THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I ve been hunting this shit down for years!! You have the Ko-stars one as well?

  • I still have it on VHS I think. How do you transfer it to the internet??

  • dude please if u do let me know

  • Check out Sean on bass! It's hard to believe this was probably recorded nearly ten years ago.
