I think it's safe to say that we were all behind Bush on going into Afghanistan - where our attackers actually live. Iraq had a dictator, but if we are to invade countries (diverting resources from finding Bin Laden and risking instability) based on that premise, there are about 8 other countries we should be invading first (Zimbabwe, Sudan, Myanmar) - they just don't have oil. This was not some kind of error, there were a lot of smart people who foresaw this mess, including Cheney himself.
