Steve the harmony is flawless, the Roomates are a great addition to American Doo-Wop. I just love the magnificent blending of your voices. I had two brothers who sang Doo-Wop back in the late fifties and early sixties, and I went to many concerts, you guys would have been a huge hit here in the States. God Bless.
There was a group from Jersey, Sonny & The Tempos back in the early to mid 60's, they started klike so many others on street corners when they were about 12 years old in Paterson, they were the best I ever heard
very good!!! also try WALKING ALONG-THE DEL VIKINGS,AT THE HOP DANNY AND THE JUNIORS,THE BRISTOL STOMP, I WONDER WHY-DION AND THE BELMONTS,BOOK OF LOVE- THE MONOTNES, to name a few. keep it up. i know your style and i could give some more that would be your style.
I stumble on alot on you tube but these subway videos are the ultimate best. So many times I wish I could have seen great groups like the Roomates in their prime and these videos have made a dream come true. Thank you for saving them because they are priceless
These guys are AWESOME. If you don't look at them, you'd swear it WAS the Passions, or Dion and the Belmonts. It makes me cry almost to listen to them.
Very Nice! I'm glad to see the UK keeping Doo Wop alive. I think Jimmy Gallagher and the Passions would be happy, too. They're getting up in age. Someone has to keep the music alive. There was an American Doo Wop group called The Roomates, too. Their "Glory of Love" is up here on Youtube. They also had a hit with "Band of Gold" and backed Cathy Jean on "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" - also up on Youtube.
Anyone remember The Roomates who sang "Band of Gold" and covers of "Glory of Love", fast version of "Sunday Kind of Love" and "Glory of Love" These guys sound a lot like them. I would love to hear more from them.
I remember them!! "Glory of Love" is up on Youtube, but not "Band of Gold". And their recording with Cathy Jean, "Please Don't Stop Loving Me" is up on Youtube, too.

I know how difficult acappella is compared to musical backup, and you guys did a great job with this song! Better than my group did in 1960.

Since they do such a good job on 'This is my love' by
the Passions, I'd love to hear them sing 'I only want
you'.
