  • do you absolutely have to do this?

  • @bottledemotionz no, not at all! you can retwist your locs as your main maintenance method without ever having to interlock. interlocking helps me because i go to the gym and if i sweat the roots will unravel. Other people do it if they swim during the week and they don't want their hair to unravel as well. Interlocking just helps to keep the roots in place.

  • @MsIslandSpice ohhhh ok .. maybe ill try it then .. it just look so tedious lol

  • hey, i love your hair, looks fab!! i just got my hair interlocked yesterday and i now have baby locs but i'm not happy cause mu hair is short so i want to take them out and start again with extensions. is it possible to take my interlocked locks out without cutting my hair?

  • @XavierKillJoy yea. use alot of conditioner, get a rat tailed comb and slowly try to unravel the knots. but you can start loc extensions with the baby locs. cause they make a small braid and wrap the loc extensions around it so you can leave them in as well..

  • i actually had the opposite experience with my last set of locs. I combed them out. the interlocked parts were easier to comb out than the parts that were palm-rolled and dense... the interlocked bits didn't appear to be as well loc'ed...

  • you need to interlock my shit where u from

  • @Davian34 im from barbados.

  • your cute

  • @Davian34 thanx :)

  • wow I interlock one time one of my locks and the texture was a litle strange, im sceared about kip doing it xD

  • @sprwriter yea it does change the texture a bit so if you want smooth uniform locks then dont do it. i do it occasionally to strengthen my roots. every few months.

  • Smart Girl...Your locs are simply BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing your method of locking!

  • @TheNaturalSelf thank you so much!

  • HOW OFTEN DO U INTERLOCK??

  • @1naptown1 every 2-3 months. its not a set time. i just do it when my roots are starting to get out of hand

  • @MsIslandSpice DO U USE THE HAND ROLL OR TWIST METHOD? AND IF SO HOW OFTEN DO U DO THT?

  • @1naptown1 i twist the roots with some gel and then braid it up most days. keep a look out for a tutorial in the next few days.

  • @MsIslandSpice U SAYIN U DO IT ON A DAILY BASIS?? OR LIKE ONCE A WEEK?

  • @1naptown1 i wash & retwist every 2 weeks. i dont retwist between those times

  • @1naptown1 you can see me retwisting in my bantu knots tutorial.

  • I have really been thinking about interlocking...great info :-)

  • Hi I was trying to is it ok to cut fish tales

  • @latorryboston what is a fish tale?

  • I recently started my loc journey ab 3 weeks ago with 2 strand twist. I interlocked my roots 3 days ago cuz they were coming lose at the roots. Is it possible to comb out a lock that has been interlocked? I think I want to make my locs a bit smaller but idk if I can comb them out :-(

  • @NapturalBeauty721 you can try but it may be difficult because interlocking is basically making little knots everytume you pull the hair through the loop. let me know how it goes!

  • @MsIslandSpice Im soo scared to try! lol the other day I attempted to undo one because I accidentaly "married" it to its neaighbor and I ended up wth a knot and cutting my hair :-( maybe with sum patience itll work!

  • hey im a upcoming rapper from the south, an i got dreads too..i got my dread journey on utube an some really good music, if u get a min search "jjdownz" u wont b disapointed, preciate it!(:

  • Love your locs..

  • Thank you for sharing. I am interlocking now I am on day 4. I have about 180 & something. Will my locks fatten up? does interlocking make the locs skinny? I want them to be a nice size.

  • @trivie70 your locks will fatten up over time, probably about 2-3 times the size they are now. if you interlock too much it can make the roots quite thin so try not to over do it. dont interlock every week. now i only do it every few months.

  • Can Interlocking thin out your locs?

  • @stymie662 some people say it does but i have not noticed any thinning. if you do it too often it may thin the roots because you are constantly tugging at them. i interlock every 6-8 weeks so mine are OK

  • @MsIslandSpice Thanks..!

  • thanks for the vid hun. I am growing my hair out now to get dreads and i have been watching vids on intter locking. Question. Will by dreads be bumpy if i start them with intter locking? Im going to subscribe to your page and please do the same for me.

    THANKS! o boi'

  • @countrychristianboi well they wont be super smooth if you interlock cause you are basically making little knots in your hair.

  • i found it easier to comb out my locs when i used the interlocking method

  • @monilove5 well thats good new too me :D thanx 4 that

  • @monilove5 I have been posting that question everywhere! You said you can comb out interloced locs? What about working out the knots or is that once it loc'd it doesn't matter? I'm asking bc I'm just starting my locs, they are small and my loctician is interlocing my hair, but in the future I want the option of combing them out versus cutting them off. please respond.

  • @TheSKYizFalling The knot is only and over under process. When I picked it out with a needle and tugged a little, more hair came unraveled at a time versus the twisted tangled part. Its kind of hard to explain until you actually do it.

  • @monilove5 okay thank-you.

  • inbox me your address, I can mail you a latch hook.

  • i like the full look interlocking gives your locks i might have to try that once my dreads get a lil longer

  • dont you get breakage doing this, why not use a latch hock?

  • @calmingspirit1 i have not experienced any breakage as yet. I havent seen any latch hooks in the UK and the method I use has not failed me so Im good for now

  • I been palm rolling my locs for 6years and when I heard of the interlocking method I decided to switch over to it and I love it. With Interlocking you can wash your locs, swim in it and it will not unravel. Again I love the interlocking method. By the way your locs on beautiful.

  • get a spray bottle to keep them damp while interlocking pls are you mite mess up ur hair.

  • my dreads are kinda shorter than yours, but my question is what do u do if u have 2 dreads forming together?

  • @MrCoolfriend22 not sure what you mean? are they kinda merging into one loc?

  • oooohhhhhhhhhhhh yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you sound just like my uncle now that i think of it

  • yo you from tobago?

  • @Zavier868 barbados

  • Hey Thanx!! U Really Helped Me Out!!X)

  • wen u interlock does it stay small or will it fatten up

  • @ladytightness92 your locks will still fatten up if you interlock but its keeps your roots tighter between washes.

  • @MsIslandSpice THNX HUN

  • Comment removed

  • u don't need to twist when u interlock

  • hi how many locs do u have?

  • @cqs09 i have 116

  • Nice locs sweetie...

  • locs looking really good! and i have one question like i wear a bandana at night righ cuz it hold all my loc in and it helps out a lot but the thang is the bottom row of my loc always get bent up for sum reason like everytime...so do u have any suggestion to fix that problem? lol

  • i loved this video, thank you for making it...it was so honest, down to earth...thanks

  • You say that you don't interlock often. But, is it safe to interlock everytime when it is time to tighten your locks when the new growth comes in?

  • I like your locks. Do you think interlocking holds better than twists when you swim or go into the steam room at the health club.

  • yes they definitely do!

  • locks are lookin amazing

  • Cool story about your thin loc that you saved. GOOooo interlock!

  • I interlock by using a paper clip. I like your fingerlocking mothod.

  • i tried that method but my hair got tangled! lol

  • Yea is happened to me, but luckily i can just untwist the paper clip to get it out. lol

  • Nice dreads . keep them coming my dreadhead...

  • great video! Good tips! Love your hair! :-)

  • Thanks so much for this! I was wondering how I keep my roots tight (I just went back to locs after an unsuccessful attempt years ago and this really helped. I tried it on one just now and it worked like a charm. I love you and your videos~!

  • I interlocked a few in the back in the past.

  • Good info..thanks for sharing

  • I realized that. Interlocking makes my ends strong.

  • how do you interlock your ends?

  • The same way you do it. North-south then I go east west with my fingers and I repeat.

  • That's exactly what I do.

  • You and your locs are beautiful . How often do you wash them?

  • every 2 weeks.
